I don't dispute this, hb, but Jeff has stated that, while he respects them both, he has moved on. His bassist for the past few years has been Rhonda Smith. If Jeff is playing with his own band, that would be a crowded lineup for a 90 minute show. I thought Jeff would play with the other bands. If you get any more details, please share (if you can). Thanks!

That would be strange if Tal and Vinnie are playing with Jeff.I think they are great musicians but what about his current line-up.I think we may see some surprises on SNL,but not a Rolling Stones reunion. eye rolling smiley

I am sure they are all very excited over at the Jeff Beck forum. I for one am glad to know I won't have to stay up late Saturday night.

I guess Beck didn't ask for too much money this time. Still totally lame that it's not the Stones. Ridiculous way for a band as great as the Stones and one of the very few who can celebrate a 50th annivesary to do so. Going out with a with a Bigger whimper than a Bang!

Doesn't sound like the Rolling Stones I know. Let's let the 50th anniversary year come and go before we throw in the towel.

Thanks very much for the response, hb! Hmmm...Vinny, Tal, Jeff and Mick? Formidable. I know others strongly disagree but for myself, that's a lot of talent Mick's got behind him. Let the old guy enjoy himself. Or just hang and wait and speculate and pray. All due respect, etc. Sorry the Stones aren't up for it for whatever reason but I know better than to write them off. Let's all drink to their health! Cheers!

Having just watched Beck and Jagger the White House again and the recent vids of Keith playing acoustic (again) it is starting to make sense why the Stones are not playing SNL.

If Jegger and Beck do Commit a Crime it will be worth watching.

You should still watch...I'm sure it will be excellent whatever they end up doing. MJ is all about quality control.

I watched the White House gig streamed live and it was fantastic.

I'm probably going to DVR it but as I'm on the west coast as well, I can watch the eastern feed so it won't be a late night regardless.

Tal mentioned something on her FB page about a big surprise coming up.But didn't say what it was. Yet more intrigue.

Based on those videos, you're right .But I believe Mick wants also to rock hard, fast and furious and Keith isn't going in that direction anymore. Keith is ready to pass the baton but Mick still wants to run with it.
Rock and roll,

Jagger looked fine in the above clips, but it's tough to get a feel for the quality of Keith's performance due to the poor audio/video quality and the fact that he was barely playing when he was singing, but that is normal for Keith.

Absolutely - and can anyone imagine Keith putting up with Becks tantrums? I'm thinking of the Yardbirds ill-fated '66 U.S. Tour, here.

As wonderful a guitarist as Beck is, he reminds me of Ritchie Blackmore: a miserable and difficult sod and possibly a bit of a loner on the quiet.

Exactly!

Those tantrums likely would have led to large gaps in new albums being recorded and new tours and...er, wait...
