Go into the studio and take up a residence. Work up the songs like in the VL sessions, but go with your gut on song selections/arrangements. Mick and Keith, collaborate, and let Ron Wood into the songwriting process. Support the album on tour. Cut the ticket prices, pyrotechnics, and backing musicians. You don't have to play the big venues without all that overhead. ...and bring Bill

Willie Nelson is a national treasure, at least in central Texas. He could rob a bank here, and he wouldn't get any time. If this thing generates enough publicity it could get interesting (especially for a certain current Texas governor with presidential aspirations). I'm veering awfully close to politics here (but not quite, BV!). Not taking sides, just an observation.

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 I want to say one thing: this kinds of threads could be the some of the very best to run on IORR. For me, these discussions are the one and true reason I come here. And it would be good if they were able to carry on w/o anger, arrogance. It's hard enough to have a lively discussion transatlantic, in different time zones, etc. - hard staying patient with other

Quotezumabitch So I don’t understand if your phrase means “They quit being the Rolling Stones because they began to be sloppy” or (more likely) “They quit being sloppy junkies and they began to play more professionally”? No pause or comma intended, so it's the latter, of course! I don't necessarily believe that what I stated above is the absolute truth, but it's an appropriate

QuoteDragonSky So...all the other times there was no demand? With some exceptions - and I guess it depends on how far back one wants to go - there hasn't been any "demand" for Mick to write anything good? Yet he thinks a C-side worthy Might As Well Get Juiced deserved a place on Bridges To Babylon. The dude has a bizarre idea of what might be considered 'relevant' to what

Brilliant set list except for Lady Jane; I hate that song. I like the "new song" slots, but it would be a miracle at this point if they could pull off an album strong enough to have 6 new songs in the setlist. Apparently people were pissed anyway when they played half of Some Girls in '78 (I'd kill for that), so might as well.

QuoteGazza It had been played at the CNIB shows in '79 and on the first month of the '81 tour before being dropped for 16 years until they brought it back at Giants Stadium on 17/10/97. Fort Worth was it's 4th performance of the tour. Oh, maybe I got that one mixed up with Jumpin' Jack Flash.

I was 20 years old and drove up from Austin with a bunch of friends. We had a blast. I thought the show was incredible, and I'll never forget watching the Stones behind me on the B-stage, facing that big cage-like screen where the stands started, playing Crazy Mama and (I think) Little Queenie. Openers were Matchbox 20, Dave Matthews Band, and Smashing Pumpkins. The guys in front of

I personally liked seeing Not Fade Away in '94-'95, but my memory of the one show I saw is colored by recordings I've heard from the tour. Everything sounds hushed/dead/compressed. I'd like to hear something with some atmosphere. I mean, it looked good, but the sound? Similarly, I remember the big buildup at a Babylon show (2/12/98?), and then Keith's guitar wasn

Drop three weak tracks on VL (critics will disagree as to which three), throw in Jump on Top of Me, The Storm, and I'm Gonna Drive, and you have a great Stones album (to which we all can agree).

It's the only Stones song I can think of with Ron clearly audible on vocals. I wonder why Ron sang instead of Keith.

Quotetumbled Case in point, I questioned the price of the vinyl Vintage Vinos Album being 6$ higher with a $10 shipping (Total $49.00) on KR website VS. the cheaper amazon.com $25.00) and I was removed from commenting on his facebook page any longer.. But think of it this way: there is a small chance you will get an autographed copy (kind of like paying for a lotto ticket). Had I known Amazon

I came to the game relatively late in the Stones career, around '94, when I was 17. What do they call the last third of the ball game? Shit, I've forgotten. Well, anyway, it was the top of the seventh, and I always thought they would push it to extra innings (some would say they did already). But they are behind, and Keith is showing bunt, and... ah screw the metaphor attempt... B

I avoided looking at this for fear of disappointment in Keith's condition, but curiosity finally got the best of me. I'm actually relieved--he looks and sounds fine! In fact, I think the biggest change may be that he appears completely sober, and I don't think I've ever seen Keith in that state. Weird...

Re: You got it made--11+ minutes of hilarity (recap): Keith: Too much echo in here. We don't ne-e-eed this much effect on the choruses. A weege bit drier. Don't go mad, though. Ron's got to do the Supremes and the Four Tops, and I've got to do the Temp-ta-tions. Ron: @#$%&' hell. That's a big gripe. Keith: It's a tall order for two queers. Keith:

Sorry. Keith can be heard mocking Jagger's lyrics to "Out of Tears" during a playback. This can be found on Voodoo Stew right before the infamous Ron/Keith "You Got it Made" vocal overdub session.

That's priceless (esp. part 2). I think it would be a great gag if they came back and did SNL next year with the same three songs. "Uh, sorry about last time! Let's give it another go."

Quotetreaclefingers I have the ABKCO Box arriving next week myself! You are in for a treat. They are nice, solid, and heavy. I listened to them in order over the past few weeks, and Let it Bleed was definitely worth the wait. I never fully appreciated that one until now.

I'm enjoying the ABKCO era stuff tremendously (got the boxed set vol. 1) , but I've been avoiding the Universal set because I've heard it's got the compression treatment style ala. Bigger Bang.

I know this is about six years too late, but I'm on a vinyl kick and I just got ABB and gave it another chance (yes, I know it's digital sourced and should sound similar). It would be a pretty good record with a few clunkers cut out, but above all, here is a prime example of something that was killed by its production (mastering?--I'm no sonic engineer). This one might be the pos

1.love is strong--gonna have to go with the VL single for 1st, although I'm not crazy about the song, I love the vibe of the song and the album 2. saint of me--Should have been the first single from BtB. A local radio station still plays this one occasionally. 3. mixed emotions--sounds great; liked it instantly. On the downside, it's real slick like the rest of Steel (greased) W

Wow, I thought

I think Keith has come to grips with his demons (cut out the coke and booze) and has realized that he needs to be on the ball, and I am cautiously optimistic that the Stones might surprise us all with an excellent album and tour. Certainly Ron has been showing some promise lately, and I don't think they want to go out with '07. Well, they just have to, don't they? It's my

Fantastic! That is the Keith Richards that got me hooked back around '93. I don't even think of him that way anymore. Is he in there still?
