Anyone who saw that show remembers Mick's coke ravaged voice and him giving Woody the tongue. Otherwise the band sounded okay, but I remember reading an article (or maybe "Wired") that supposedly the Stones totally blew the doors off in rehearsal, but after partying all week with Belushi by show time we got Mick the Froggy.

Is the rehearsal tapes and the soundcheck for SNL the same?

I don't have Summer Romance on my copy of the soundcheck.

I have a video of it in black and white. Bad quality. Somewhere in the basement

Interesting question and imho the answer is "no"!

I had a boot cd on Rabbit Records which had some SNL rehearsals and to me it is different from the "Bill’s Studio" tape released by VGP and later by DAC...

So my guess is "The following tracks [that] are circulating on private video" are on the RR cd (you could easily detect a video source for thses ones) while the (very bad) audio-only tape of the rehearsals are on the VGP/DAC titles...

My idea is they rehearsed/jammed/shot the sh!t in this discreet garage/rehearsal place outside of Manhattan (with Belushi in attendance?), then drove to the SNL studios, did some more rehearsals to check the sound and the "P.A." (at that time cameras were rolling) then they went on to an all-night binge with Belushi and came back the next day to give a very poor performance

Wired, The biopic of Belushi, has a whole chapter dedicated to the Stones appearance titled "Battle of the Gods" . That is where the Story of the Stones peaking too early in the week, before partying themselves hoarse. Along with the producer worried about cutting Keith from a couple skits, only to discover Keith didn't remember he was supposed to be in them anyway.

Oh yeah, and Ronnie and Charlie in the "Cheeburger Cheeburger" sketch -- and Belushi giving them the bums' rush.

Got one in the basement in color in pretty good quality, for the life of me I can't remember where I got it. I think it has Ft. Worth on it too.

That's priceless (esp. part 2). I think it would be a great gag if they came back and did SNL next year with the same three songs. "Uh, sorry about last time! Let's give it another go."

They did Summer Romance at the RCA studio's as well, late August, early September 1978. No audience, but live none the less.

Where was this picture taken? This isn't Westchester, I don't think. SNL rehearsals. NYC somewhere?

Didn't they have a rehearsal space at 30 Rock? They had musical performances every week.

That SNL episode was my intro to the Stones. I got Some Girls the very next day.
