Unfortunately crime can often pay. Allen Dulles and LBJ knew all about that. Part of me still thinks it was amazing that Armstrong came back from cancer and won even with "assistance" but the rules are the rules and he shouldn't be allowed to get away with it. As we say in England - on your bike son.

QuoteChrisM Personally I'd love to see Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer play with them again, even though Peter is not the player he was.(Anyone heard Spencer lately) When I met and spoke with Mick Fleetwood a few years back, he was very keen to make it happen... I heard a bit of Jeremy's recent playing and he sounded pretty good.He could certainly participate and come out with great cred

Funnily enough i've just been listening to Fleetwood Mac - Peter Green and Danny Kirwan era. All credit to the band for carrying on,re-inventing themselves and succeeding but for my money the Green-era is among the finest of any band, anywhere at any time. What a shame that Peter and Danny got into such deep personal difficulty.

I love the epiphone guitars i have played. They upped their game in the 90's and for the most part their guitars are good value. I've been playing an epiphone les paul for over 15 years now. Love it . One time i hired a "proper" gibson les paul and recorded at a professional studio at volume with both. I didn't think the difference was £1500+. The gibson was just better m

Thanks for all the great uploads. I have a request. Anyone have the different source for Baltimore 1969 ? I know it appeared on Dime several years ago but it had a track deleted coz it was on an official release. I think it's referred to as source 1 low gen. Hope someone's able to help with that.thanks

QuoteJan Richards I have 19 copies of the first vinyl LP LK4605 pressed in UK, so I guess I qualify as a person that likes the early stuff Probably the best ever first album by any band... Well, The Doors was a pretty good one as well. i've got several copies but not 19. I was listening to this lp a few days ago and i think it doesn't stand up very well musically today. Some of it

Quote2000 LYFH They say that the late great Sid Barrett (Pink Floyd) had one too many trips and never came back! Can you think of anyone else who also did the same? according to folklore there's Syd,Brian Wilson,Roky Erickson,Skip Spence,Peter Green,Ace Kefford,Vince Taylor and Paul McCartney and 2 friends of mine.

Quotestrettonbull Really sad news. A great guitarist with his own unique style: Lots of Dr Feelgood stuff available on my downloads page. I wouldn't describe his style as unique as he is so heavily influenced by Mick Green of The Pirates in the same way that Beefheart is by Howlin' Wolf. Not a bad thing in either case to my mind. Wilko is a fantastic guitar player without bei

I remember years ago Eric Clapton gave the Stones an award (Hall of Fame ? ) and made the comment that they'd never sold out or words to that effect - apparently the Cream Falstaff beer commercial still annoys him. I often wonder if he's heard the Rice Krispies commercial and what his reaction would be. Personally i think it's a rocking track, one of their best early numbers and my

I'm not a fan of Stevie's voice (or Marriot for that matter). Can't stand that blue eyed soul thing. Think i've got all his work up to and including Blind Faith but it just doesn't do it for me. On the other hand he is an amazing musician - brilliant keyboards and a pretty mean guitar player too, well-loved and respected by everyone who played music in the sixties (with

Thanks that's really interesting especially as it's still fairly close to the events in question. Keith's very positive about Brian on the whole compared to his later interviews where he seems pretty dismissive other than for Brian's early contributions in getting the band together and playing ability. Much as the Jones-era is my favourite, i don't have a lot of sympathy

Even on the basis of the slightly messy first London show (Rambler-wise) i thought they should get MT back full time. If he was fully rehearsed i think he'd add enormously to the band who to be honest i thought would be a rubbish parody of themselves on those dates. How wrong i was. I would like to add that i will never diss Ronnie again - for the first time i was really impressed with what

I understand your points and it is said that they worked together more than say on the white album. As i said i've just really gone off it over the years. My fave tracks are I want you and the end. I've never been that blown away by Because. Prefer yes it is or this boy. I think Because suffers from being triple tracked vocally like the first CSN album. John doesn't contribute to G

Abbey Road is very much dominated by Macca. John and Georges songs somehow seem like guest appearances to me and there isn't a lot of interaction by John and Paul throughout the album. Partly this may have been due to John's car crash but didn't he say at one point he wanted his songs on one side and Paul's on the other. There's also a sort of slickness overall which i do

When Beggars was released wasn't the latest beatle album the white album rather than magical mystery tour (which wasn't a uk lp). They're both brilliant for different reasons - the stones find themselves a new sound and the beatles release a sprawling messy compendium of 20th century pop music. I think the Stones pull ahead in 1969 with the release of Let It Bleed compared to th

that's the Cream website. Some good info there with some really nicely illustrated sections. It might not have been updated recently but there hasn't been much action on the unreleased Cream front for a while to my knowledge.

Quotetatters John Lennon would have loved this. I think he would've. Any Nirvana fans here ? I'm interested what they think. If i didn't know what McCartney was capable of (but rarely shows) i'd have been worse than appalled at the idea but i think this Sound City track works well. Grohl is a great drummer - his playing at the hurricane benefit was monstrous. They should

Doom and Gloom is classic 68 to 71 Stones by numbers with a sharp production. I really like it. Jagger's vocal is really strong and i like the lyrics better than the usual desperate attempts by MJ. Even the slight fakeness of the sound (did they use Abbey Road vintage drummer Gretsch kit on a loop ?) doesn't bother me and i'm quite the purist normally. A far better self parody tha

No haven't found the SNL yet but his McVana/Sound City track was apparently played again. I had thought Paul was dead till i heard that at the Hurricane Sandy concert. I wish he'd dump his band and get Nirvana in full-time. For 6 mins and 30 secs it was a privilege to be a Paul McCartney fan. Admittedly that's a poor return on 42 years but if the Stones can manage something as go

Someone who actually likes Clapton may know better than me, but i think there is little left of Cream to surface outside of any concert tapes that were recorded surreptitiously but not yet circulated. I assume you have the boots that are already floating around "out there". I think much of any outtakes went up in the Atlantic Tape library fire. Not much of a loss when you think who el

Best thing i've heard from him in years...From the Muddy Banks Of The Mersey. He should dump his band and get Nirvana instead. They even made his knackered voice sound good. Grohl is fab on the drums and Macca on slide wow. I had a sneaking feeling they'd be good but that was a mean and nasty noise just like it's supposed to be.McVana should do a whole album like that in my opini
