The E Street Band is everything that should not happen to The Stones, I agree.Quote

Personally I think three electric guitars is almost always a bad idea. I hate the murkiness it's brought to the E Street Band for instance. Two guitars can sound bigger than the sum of their parts, but for whatever reason three don't do that. Skynyrd and the Eagles made it work, but only by working out parts with military precision and having absolutely no improvisation at all. That wouldn't suit the Stones.

They play musical chairs throughout the show:
Taylor plays on any the material ranging from the beginning - 1974 (as he did while still in the band).
Wood plays on everything from 1976-present.
It's fair, balanced, and musically fantastic.

Lott comes instantly to mind...maybe a Van Zant?

If they kept the stage show toned down like in the recent 5 shows then it would be a good idea, because it would take the pressure off of Keith and Ronnie to flesh out the sound while at the same time giving the guitar section extra bite and a bit of "jazz" which would elevate Charlie's playing as well.

Oh, I see. Well, I was trying to cut down on commas and such to save bandwidth. But, if you wish, I mean, for clarity, I'll splurge....

By my count 6 angels just got their wings...or was it six guitars just got some strings?
Either way you have punctuated your point

punctuation isn't the issue. i just don't get the whole jazz thing. and i really do get jazz, so it's disheartening....
The world does not need jazz roc from the RS.Quote

"Jazz" as in improvisation, which Mick Taylor excels at, and in that spirit, so would Charlie.

you all are forgetting - they would have to pay him, and it would cut into there take. ain't happenin. they are too greedy
Yes that's the general mood around here that our 3 lovelies could not make it anything but mess. Taylor as great as he is, is not a studio guy in any way. I imagine the amount of rehearsals would be unpractical. When someone mentioned the E Streeters a flag went up, Bruce's guitar assault is truly horrible. Still bringing Taylor on a big tour for one number or two seems very anti rock and roll. In my minds eye I can imagine it but can they?Quote

Three guitars would almost ruin the sound, especially since all three guitarists would be fighting to be heard. Keith, Ron and Taylor all on full volume? Yeeesssh. What a mess....a lot of egos, competition and very little sound space to pull it off without some intense rehearsals to divide up parts and sections.

Taylor could play the much maligned ukelele...that would be a fantastical journey through the sublime...and I bet he'd tear up Street Fighting Man like he used too.
