"Sets for Blood on the Tracks and Blonde on Blonde will eventually come out. When fans hear the Blonde on Blonde set, they'll realize that the real hero of the sessions was pianist Paul Griffin. . . There will also be a Basement Tapes box one day. We're trying to get the best sources on all the Basement Tapes. That'll happen one day, absolutely." That's what i wa

I mentioned elsewhere that at the start of the tour the ticket prices generated a lot of bad will from what i could see. However, the high quality they delivered on this tour seemed to cancel that out. If they'd been crap they could have done some serious damage to their reputation but they didn't. Given their respective ages and physical condition they were frequently shit hot and that

QuoteHis Majesty No there's more to him than just No Expectations during Beggars Banquet sessions, we have 10 or so studio tracks featuring him. forward to the R&R Circus and Let It Bleed sessions and he seems to have withdrawn even further. That's true but of the tracks you list only No Expectations and the possibility of him contributing acoustic and harmonica to Parachute Woman

I have to agree with His Majesty on this. If we look at the whole year of 1968 and the 6 months of 1969 the only meaningful contribution is the No Expectations slide (which is nice but by no means exceptional), the Rock 'n' Roll Circus on which he is barely audible (that could be a political thing so we'll give him the benefit of the doubt but other musicians report him as being in

If this tour had been a disaster or so-so musically it could have been. The fact that it started with complaints about ticket prices (which i agree with) but ended up with the band quite rejuvenated gives us hope for more. A lot of my friends who don't like the Stones or think they're a bit of a joke have been commenting how good or even amazing they have been either on you tube clips o

Quotestonehearted And as for the Get Back sessions of The Beatles in January 1969 not sounding up to snuff, that was Paul's fault. The decision for scheduling was left to him, and he elected to have the film crew in on a day schedule, 9-to-5, when The Beatles were night owls. Plus they were recording in the chilly barn-like atmosphere of Twickenham film studios, and the band was made self

Without studio documentation or access to the original multitrack tapes it's gonna be hard to establish what Brian contributed 1968 to 69 beyond what we already know. Only contemporary reports are likely to be accurate to any degree. There must have been a long build up to BJ's departure - band members leaving an established band like that is not taken lightly. Bad PR for one thing. I

Quoteshakeydeal I can't imagine there's anyone on the 2013 BPD payroll that gives a rat's ass about covering up a 50 year old mistake, if there was one. They're just using the most modern science to try to resolve a murder. As they even stated during yesterday's press conference, this won't even prove DeSalvo was the Boston Strangler, just the likely murderer of Ma

Apparently Nassar is alive and still in custody. Should be easy to sort this one out if dna samples survive for the other murders. Problem is that high profile miscarriages of justice are a serious embarrassment to so many (police/legal system/newspapers etc.). Having studied the RFK case for some time (which has an interesting but unsubstantiated overlap with the DeSalvo case) it's clear t

The Beatles certainly benefitted from the staff and sound and consistency of abbey road as did cliff richard/the shadows/johnny kidd and the pirates/the hollies etc. Didn't Ray ask for the first version of YRGM to be re-recorded which he was only allowed to do at his own expense ? Is it true the band paid for their own sessions after this not coz they wanted too but because of their (rubbis

"Re: OT: Ray Davies slates "Revolver" Posted by: DandelionPowderman () Date: July 11, 2013 23:31 Each song?" sorry, meant to say no singer sings 2 songs in a row - the lead singers for each Revolver track as follows side 1 - george, paul, john, george, paul, ringo, john side 2 - paul, john, paul, john, george, paul, john. ok i'm stretching it by calling Ringo a singer

I like the fact that on Revolver each song is sung by a different band member. Name another LP where that happens. Tomorrow Never Knows is seriously trippy and inventive...shit those guys were so stoned they even let Ringo sing a number. They were progressive mainstream pop. Our kids sing their drug songs at school 50 years later..isn't that more subversive than some bands you could menti

Hi Blueranger - People would "complain and moan if noise reduction, edits and la-de-da" if such things were done stupidly. If you're a Hollies fan and you've heard how they've chopped some of the bbc tracks or the attempts at eq by Crapple you'd understand that sometimes the complaints are justified. It strikes me that much of this work is done by technicians and not

Well of course they should be but - As we already have everything thought to exist on bootleg, i would much rather see the release of the acetate Bill has from the band's 1964 radio luxembourg appearance - sound quality should be pretty good and a lot can be done these days to remove clicks and pops without harming the music.Plus Abcko wouldn't have to deal with the bbc. QuoteRockinJive U2 Matellica Fleetwood Mac Everyband from the 80's. I guess you must mean the Stevie Nicks/Lindsey Buckingham line up. Have you tried the 1967 to 1970 line up ? live at the boston tea party 1970 - rattlesnake shake, jumping at shadows are out of this world. better guitar work than anyone including the Stones. One of the UKs finest ever bands with Green/Kirwan/Spencer lead

Live with me coz it could have Taylor but would be great without him too, they've already played Sway and i have no interest in the other 3 songs especially a(nother) lame stones version of imagination. given a free vote i'd go for the rice krispies ad. it rocks and still leaves time for another tune such as have you seen your mother, baby or we love you with guest vocals by mccartney.

That's fantastic. I'm neither a Nirvana or Foo Fighters fan but i have a lot of time for Grohl. He's not an ace guitarist or singer but the energy and enthusiasm he brings to the table is something else. He cares passionately about music and by all accounts he's a very well rounded individual and nice guy. That alone marks him out as something special in the music industry.

was that you tube clip filmed from the bathroom or just really murky? Chuck now plays guitar worse than Brian Wilson sings . Yikes. But if Chuck wants to keep playing that's his business and good luck to him. His work was done many, many years ago and i assume we're all grateful as we should be. We got a couple of dozen great bands out of it and a string of rock 'n'roll classi

I'm not glad she's dead so to speak but... "there is no society" and "the market will provide" are two of the dumbest things i have heard from a politician. What's more infuriating is that it reminds me that if labour and the unions hadn't messed up this country so badly in the 70s then we probably wouldn't have suffered her reign. and here we are a

Shame it isn't included in a mono English album box set (stereo Beggars, bleed) with 4 cds of alternate/unreleased tracks, 2cd set of bbc sessions, 1 cd featuring Bill's radio luxembourg acetate and other surviving acetates, 2 dvds of uninterrupted promos and live clips tv etc. in a beautifully ma

Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac Live At The Boston Tea Party 1970- aka The Boston Box - totally live,no dubs and Green at the peak of his powers - leaves Keith and MT in the dust. Peter Green and Danny Kirwan were the best British double act on guitar. 25 minute Rattlesnake Shake is utterly incredible and tracks such as Danny's World In Harmony have the two playing in..perfect harmony. Check out the Boston Box set from the 1970 shows or you should be able to find and download a set called Underway which is a bbc live concert recorded a few weeks before Green left. Stunning stuff.
