Glad to see you still popping in here Paul. I was planning on re-reading the kindle version soon. Am i right in remembering that one of the guys at "the bust" was also present the night Brian died ?

they should've got Peter Green up for Albatross. That would've been ace. At least he can still play that one. If only he and Danny Kirwan were well.

Having given the matter some thought i reckon the Kinks should do it with Ray,Dave,Mick and John Dalton and the support act should be the original line-up of The Animals (except Chas obviously)...there'll be blood everywhere. It'll be hilarious. Fight fight fight. Who should be 3rd on the bill to ensure a total 60's bloodbath ?

Quotemichaelsavage I never said I HATE them. I said they were overrated (grossly) and they are good for elevator or department store background music. Safe, puffery, that's all. Wish they played Tomorrow Never Knows in my local elevator. They do play Wild Horses there after all.

Much as i'd love to see the Kinks that interview raises a lot of questions. Dave is pretty adamant he doesn't want Mick Avory involved. I should imagine every kinks fan does. Despite not appearing on the first few Kinks records he was a really good drummer as live footage from that era shows. Is Dave really up to it ? He's made amazing progress since his stroke but can he play we

I prefer The Beatles but the Stones are f****** brilliant too. In a fist fight i think Mick would say "Beatles, why are we fighting ?" then they'd all sit round and get wasted while George Martin and Bill Wyman discussed national service.

It's time to stop this now. So... 5 Stones - Mick,Keith,Brian,Charlie,Bill 4 Beatles - John,Paul,George,Ringo. Let's add George Martin as he's probably got more right to be called the 5th Beatle than most other contenders. It's a fist fight (no knives Keith ! ) Who wins ?

QuoteWroclaw The Shadows and the JImi Hendrix experience (*) * can all unite at the next world. Sadly you're right about the Experience. However, i'm afraid that if Jimi doesn't want to reform the Experience on the other side then he could use The Shadows original (and best) rhythm section - drummer Tony Meehan (who was about 15 on their first records) and bass player Jet Har

QuoteRoughJusticeOnYa Quoteash Britain's finest ever guitar double act (yes, better than Keef and Mick !!). Keef & Mick is not a guitar duo. It's a brilliant & iconic(!) songwriters & producers duo - a.k.a. 'the Glimmer Twins'. If you're refering to the Rolling Stones' guitar department '69-'74, then you mean Keef & Mick Taylor (or j

Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, Jeremy Spencer, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood - the original and best Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. Unfortunately i don't believe Peter's up to it and the last news on Danny (some years ago) indicated that there was little hope of him playing in public again. I hope he's doing ok. At least Peter seems content with life these days. Seriously, if tho

QuoteRoss Quotetatters It sounds just like him. Exactly! It has all of the elements of his best work, great melody, nice arrangement, Beatlesque ditty; etc. But, It's "just like" most of what he has been doing the last 43 years since the demise of that little band he was in before Wings. Which isn't to say I don't like it, I'm a fan. But this surely isn't go

I like WV but i wish they still did shows in FLAC. I also wish they were more forthcoming in giving details of the shows they do have so maybe we could request shows. Crosby era Byrds ? Buffalo Springfield ? Syd's Pink Floyd ? Stones ? Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac ? They may or may not have no more, some or loads of the above. They do also ocassionally edit tapes for no apparent reason a

As batcave says above, Fleetwood Mac (peter green version) with fleetwood, mcvie, green, kirwan and maybe spencer but i think that's only slightly less likely than The Beatles reforming with the classic line-up. While dreaming i'd love to see the Beck/Page Yardbirds too. If a suitable replacement could be found for Keith Relf that could actually happen but he'd be a hard act to follo

QuoteWolfgangG I explained before why these clips are especially awful, he had a very long journey and more or less immediately walked on stage. I also doubt he rehearses. Then again, he never had a professional attitude in my opinion. You don't have to like him, but let's face it, he has always been a bit strange and never been a great live musician (he is the most fantastic show

Well i still prefer his playing to Eric Clapton's... but seriously, nothing wrong with the voice and i can't see an auto cue for the lyrics (no shame there in any case, plenty of singers do that) so what exactly is going on there ?

I'm not (all that) old, bitter or a fool though on occasion i do foolish things. Those clips are sad but if you have an explanation please fire away. If, for example it's simply a case of Chuck being tired after a long journey then fine but why isn't his schedule sorted out properly to account for this. I said i thought his voice sounded fine and it does.

Quoteflacnvinyl Seriously, no one should pay for this... Watch the band try to save this one... If the Stones played like this at Hyde Park would you buy it? Would you rock out to it? Claim they are still the greatest? Chuck gets a pass for some reason and it baffles me. I didn't understand Keith's attitude toward Chuck but now I really really get it. He (Keith) is right.

The Byrds (crosby,Mcguinn and hillman at least) - Ringo would be a good choice of drummer but that's as likely as Roger McGuinn agreeing to play with Chris and David again. The Kinks (ray, dave, mick and john dalton) The stones 69 to 74 line up with ronnie. Brian Wilson - mind you i suspect he's as back together again as he's ever likely to be.

QuoteNICOS Them. Nicos did you really see Them ? Count me jealous. I do really like The Who and i bet on a good night they were unbeatable. The fact that occasionally one of the others would sing and they had some kind of backing vocals probably swings it for me. Spot the Beatle fan eh.. QuoteHis Majesty I bought it. I'm disappointed that it's essentially just the 2005 version with some new chapters added. The new chapters, ie the Final Truth sections are good and a whole new book just focusing on these would have been much better IMO. Given the excitement generated and the incredible vitality of the band on the limited number of songs he played on i would say that he should be compensated along the lines of getting his job back alongside Keith and Ron. Re-watching some of those clips is still blowing my mind. Not that the Stones were bad without him (they were often excellent) and not that he played as well as he used to (who

Thanks for posting that. Brian's band are probably the best band in the universe on some levels. Their ability to reproduce the Pet Sounds and Smile albums on stage...well all i can say is i've seen him 30 times and if you haven't seen the Brian Wilson band you must. They now have Al Jardine and Dave Marks from the Beach Boys added...even if you don't like surf music, to watc
