Quotebv I remember UC had named a bar in San Jose for a glimmer party during the delayed Stones No Security shows in San Jose 1999. It was near the Fairmont. I recommended the same bar in IORR and it sort of got crowded. And they did not like it... After that I did not do any recommendations about pre-show meetings for a while. Somehow things changed from the glimmer meeting in Chicago Sept 2

Quotewickerman I'll be trying to score tix for Dusseldorf as already managed to get Stehplatz for Berlin, which should offer damn good view of the band. Can you tell us, based on the US tour experience, is it hard to score those tickets (do they sell out instantly) or it's possible to book them once you log in when the sale begins? this was a brand new idea when i got my tickets so th

it's like this wonderful time capsule of music in 1964 - where it came from, what was happening then, and the future. james brown's performance is one of the top five (at least!) live performances of all time. and the stones weren't too shabby either! ;-)

Quotegotdablouse Who knows...they're going to be building that pit during the night so I suppose they might fine tune the capacity once that's done. They would normally have done it at the Wembley Arena though... @diane d - good to hear! Were there people standing behind that GA pit, I'm still not sure how that can work unless they're assuming that everyone will be standing

QuoteGrison to my understanding Mark Butler Associates had about 30-50 Pit standing tickets for each concert. 100 each have been released via the Facebook thing. So I assume max. would be 250-300. And no chance to go and Pee. Wonderful !!!! i haven't read the rest of the thread, so maybe the last part of your message has been commented on. but anyway, neil young & crazy horse have ha

QuoteWry Cooter QuoteThe Sicilian Does anyone know what greens, reds, and blue pills were from that period? Reds were Seconals -- downers. Greens -- probably Dexedrine -- greenies, speed. The Blues? See Robert Johnson. reds = seconals, greens = placidyls and (i'm guessing here) blues = amobarbitals. they are all sleeping pills or "downers." there are other possibilities bu

oh gosh, while i didn't get out as much this year, there were some highlights: norton buffalo tribute (w/steve miller, bonnie raitt, et al). on the rail at the fox. loved this show. renewed appreciation for steve miller who i first saw in 1967. what a great catalog of songs paul mccartney at the SF giants ball park - everybody was *so* into it and he's just a consummate entert

oakland 1969 - ike and tina turner. there was a *long* time between sets and the consensus at the time was that mick didn't want to follow tina's amazing performance. they may have learned from the TAMI show that it's best to let some time lapse.

Quoteajc68 This is a fascinating interview. Unfortunately, the interviewer keeps interrupting Jagger every time he was about to say something interesting about Exile. I wonder which book Jagger picked up. i don't know -- maybe you had to be there to appreciate what the SF bands were doing and it was different from what the london bands or the new york bands or the los angeles bands were doing. BBHC may not have been the most musically accomplished band in critics' minds, but they had a unique sound and i always loved their shows, before and after janis. perhaps janis's star power wa

i'd recommend going to the fillmore. even if the band playing isn't one you'd ordinarily go see, the poster display is incredible as are the photographs. it's a real piece of rock n roll history and all-in-all, one of the best live music venues ever. and, john lee hooker's boom boom room is right across the street. yoshi's is just down fillmore street. the sal

i stayed at vancouver studios in bayswater last two times i was in london. clean, comfortable, friendly staff. all rooms have fridges and microwaves (and dishes, silverware, etc.) so they're more like small studio apartments and you at least have the option of not having to dine out every day.

QuoteDeltics Quotekovach Quotekingkirby I remember reading an earlier quote from Hunter's girlfriend saying that they had been smoking meth all day and her constant praising of Mick Jagger had caused Hunter to pull the gun and run at the stage in a jealous rage, with her trying to restrain him. I'm no drug expert, but I thought meth was a recent thing, like the last decade or two. Wa
