Let's get this thread going again! This is a really awesome item...

A large red leather bound Visitors Book from Government House, Singapore that has been autographed by each member of The Rolling Stones, the Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham and 1964/1965 Stones tour manager Mike Dorsey.

Matt, Is this in your possesion or did you photograph it. Your collection never ceases to astound me. I get blown away how some such as yourself and other great collectors get hold of the treasures you do and still wish to share them with us mere mortals. Are you personally in touch with the other great collectors like JR.

Matt, your collection rocks, I love collecting The Stones myself, but my collection is just a fraction of what you've got - really love just looking at the images to see what comes up next - yes, keep this thread going!

Cheers

Some other rare stuff from Art Collins, who was Tour Manager for the '82 Tour.
This is his own tour book with all the information about venues, hotels, a schedule etc. etc.

... and some negotiation papers regarding Ronnie's participation in '81 and '82 tour, where you can see from, that he wasn't yet a full member of our favourite group at that time :-)

Very Very cool, thank you for sharing, and thanks for all the times I looked at pieces in your collection, but it was much later after you posted, so I did not say thank you at the time... You have great Stones items.

EDIT-
After looking closer.... WOW!!, those are the juicy details... as Ronnie goes from a "hand shake" to written contract, I shall ask for no details..... plus fun to see odds/ends e.g.... Mick call me "when you surface"- P.R.L.

Isn't there a point when collecting becomes a beast of burden? When you start thinking about who's going to care for it if something happens to me. Or the complicated process to find a buyer at the right price. Or the huge devaluation of 99,5 % of the LP:s and, especially, CD:s due to the internet. Or insurance costs. I do not want to take the joy off of it, I was just wondering. I'm aware that my little collection is probably worth 5 % of what I gave for it. That makes it more or less meaningless selling it!

Yes, Stoneage, I do worry about my collection when I'm gone and what's going to happen to it, but I suppose the main thing to do is to enjoy while you're still here.

PS: I will never sell my collection

Cheers

stoneage..In case of an emergency to make sure my Stones collection is safe i've thought up a Plan B to put in place if all else fails but it usually means putting ya' life on the line for it..I had to use it for the first time a few months ago in an earthquake smoking smiley

What did you do to put your life on the line, Colonial? Is it New Zealand (Christchurch?) you live in? Is it possible to get a home insurance there these days? If these enhanced tectonic activities doesn't abate maybe countries like New Zealand and Japan have to be evacuated. It looks grim.

stoneage..yea'.. Making sure my Stones collection was safe..was no big deal really.Going by this mornings newspaper to insure some of these older buidings here in New Zealand its gone up anything from 100-300%.The 53 year old building im doing Stonework on the owner was telling me his insurance has doubled I just hope he does'nt put his rents up to make his poor tenants pay for it..knowing him he probably will

Whiskey asked: "Matt, Is this in your possesion or did you photograph it."

Each item I post is in my collection or that would be cheating! Although the thread is so old a handful of items I may have since traded but this one is a keeper. A fabulously british item, it is signed by Prince Philip and several other dignitaries. It is nearly 3 inches thick and 12 inches wide!

Here is a complete ticket from the show that night....

Sometimes I can't remember what I have and haven't posted. I think I have posted the No.2 Album before but I am pretty certain I haven't posted the No.1 or EP so here goes... (all fully signed). Note: Bill Wyman's 'B' changed significantly at some point in 1964. The EP and No.2 is signed with the later 'B'. I am still trying to pinpoint the change from handwritten letters.

What is approximately the worth of the above object with all the autographs on it? I can see that it isn't in mint condition. $ 500?

EddieByword: Get a free www.photobucket.com account and upload your pictures from your hard drive to their and then copy the link to here.

Stoneage: Which item fully signed? In general however signature prices are highly variable based on the item they are on, the provenance, the clarity of the signatures etc...

Whiskey, yes I am in touch with many other collectors including JR but I am always looking for new contacts. What else would I do with the stuff if I didn't share the joy of it? I am always willing show interested people the stuff in person too, several here have been to my home in West London which is very near the historic Ealing Jazz Club! The only thing that annoys me is when my stuff is used and I am not credited.

An early 1964 Handbill fully signed on the back...

The biggest problem I find with collecting is space! Did I really need to buy a 30 foot long banner or a display only designed for the largest of Cinema lobbies? I desperately need a bigger house!

Insurance is only really a problem if your collection is worth more than 20% of the value of your home as then it is considered an abnormal risk (sadly I fall into this category). The risk is principally fire or flood etc... theft is low on such specialist stuff. I found John Lewis insurance willing to cover me provided I give them a up to date inventory every two years. Touch wood, I have never had to claim for anything as money couldn't bring back the items.

I tend to buy things I really don't need when I haven't found anything I do for a few weeks. Collecting is often as much about the thrill of the chase as it is about actually owning the item. Selling a whole collection in one lot is almost impossible at anything close to retail value. Collections are typically only bought by dealers to break them up and they have to factor in high selling costs and a large number of items that will not sell at all. I have occasionally bought fairly large collections for just a few pieces and my storage unit is testament to how time consuming it would be to sell relatively low value items.

If you buy things you like then it doesn't matter what they are worth. If you see your collection as an investment the only way to make it a good one is only to buy the VERY best stuff, which is VERY expensive.

Whatever you collect enjoy it.... and if you have anything spare call me!

Mattleeuk: The one you posted above my post!

Which one? A fully signed No.1 would be £1,500 to £3,000 depending on how good the example is. A fully signed No.2 would be £1,000 to £2,500 and the EP about £1,000 to £1,750. It is very hard to find a full set of original autographs on something nice for under £1,000. The are findable on paper from £500 and up. The vistors book is a tough one... it is so unique. The dealer I got it from valued it at £3,000 and I didn't waste any time.

Couldn't resist some Faces before I go to bed!

I think I may have posted these before but I just got them back from the restorer and she's done a really great job!

Sadly these missed the editorial deadline for the forthcoming Faces Genesis Publications book but you can see them here :-)

I am always looking to buy posters like this so please let me know if you ever see any for sale!

Whiskey, my pleasure! Get me started on Stones memorabilia and I can put anyone to sleep! One more item... I have a lot from this show including two fully signed programmes (one on the inside and one on the cover, that's why I need both). Here is the poster.

Thanks again for the photobucket info Mattleeuk, as you can see I signed up tonight; I've posted these, I haven't been able to work out how to make them bigger yet, when I resized them in the 'edit suite' they just got saved in the same size in my album ???...all help in making them bigger appreciated, Eddie

Valex show souvenir program from Cardiff Capital Theatre 6.10.1963 with Mick's signature on the back...It is a bit faded but is definitely there

If I coul get this bigger you'd be able to see it, well, much better anyway

Canadian release of Winning Ugly - 12" single
