Exactly, there is absolutely nothing predictive in the fact that they want their children and grandchildren to have fun at the final show of a long, long tour. The same thing in Istanbul 1998 by the way.
They will be back !

Yeah, I see an Arena Tour in 2008, seems logical...

It's the end of this production, two years of A Bigger Bang Tour and not the end of the Stones.
They've done 31 gigs on the european leg of the tour and this was 144th gig alltogether.

Helter said it - a new stage is in the works and the Shine A Light movie hits the flicks in april 2008 with a probable tour to promote it.

you can bring your familie to work on the last night when you're off to vacation after that - nothing wrong with that, is there?

well, my opinion anyways

Yeah, I wouldn't read too much into the kids being on stage at the end of a LONG, 2 year tour ending up in Dad's home town on a holiday weekend .... SHINE A LIGHT will be a big deal, Scorsese and all, perfect time for an arena tour...

There you have it - Sunday is Children's Day

Notting Hill Carnival Recommended

The August bank holiday is given over to a crowd partying like there's no tomorrow as people enjoy the spectacle of the floats and soak up the music of steel bands, reggae and the many sound systems along the three-mile route. Sunday is Children's Day, with an emphasis on families and younger festival goers.

What are saying with this post?
That it should be the reason why they were on stage?

just got back now and what a show.. was sitting in block 101 so right on the side of the stage on Ronnie's side. They were on form tonight what a version of Can't You Here Me Knocking.

Everything just seemed to work and i'm sure Keith said he would see us again next year, or something like that.

Mick and Keith were actually chatting on stage and hugging which you don't see too often.

I think based on what they did tonight they will be back.

Oh and Keith's daughters were smoking backstage too

Great to hear that you had a great show there tonight :-)

Let's be honest!

That was a bit disappointing. Still don't know the "Keith on fire" and "Best gig ever" reviews.

But here goes the myth from last tour gigs in their hometown . .

They surly know the net and their fans expectations. But in their 3 final gigs no surprises in the setlist apart from usual changes, nobody on stage, nothing special. There are so many possibilities.

I mean, - why not give your fans that little extrakick !?!

So from the distance IT IS disappointing for sure.

But I still hope it's really been a great show!!
(and so they always have us longing for the next one . .)

OK guys. Various Stones children and grandchildren HAVE been on stage or doing "back up" several times in the past ten years.

Relax. There will be more shows with more to pick to pieces including setlists.

Re those who think the Stones should make speeches about their wonderful, loyal fans, is this really in character?

Ya got Keith offering "gold rings...blessings" etc. on you at many a gig. Some of you "just can't be satisfied"...

I fell asleep...no wonder! my predictions from earlier in this thread before the show came true: no surprises apart from usual setlist changes, regular ABB tour show.

one thing from my predictions is missing so far: the "Keith on fire" and "Best gig ever" reviews, but as soon as the people are back from from the show those reviews will surely appear, no doubt!!!

Not a bit, except that surprises we were told would be in this show didn't happen, maybe bv will tell us tomorrow, as he promised in another thread ;-)

there's only one thing that does not make sense about the arena tour in the US at the time of shine alight release april 2008..

usually you do arena tours in the winter when its too cold to play the stadiums.... why would they do an arena tour in late spring /summer???

that does not add up to my mind...

having said that i really can't wait for them to hit the east coast of the US again...i need a fix.

Because there is no market for a stadium tour right now. So they don't have to hire as much crew or haul around as much equipment.

No, not in character and yet Mick came as close to it as he'll ever do. Said how he knows there are people going to loads of shows, one woman doing 100,and thanked us. And yes, he did say "See you later" and Keith said "See you again". Musically, I don't think it equalled the second show but was still great. Superb atmosphere and the band seemed quite emotional. The vibes between Mick and Keith were fantastic, really touching, to me at least. Keith went up and hugged Mick after his harmonica solo in CYHMK. Mick returned the gesture during Brown Sugar. Keith was very happy and had a great rapport with the crowd. Pity he missed his first solo in SFTD due to waving to the crowd; that's why i say it wasn't as good as Thursday musically. The rest of the band were fine but Keith wasn't as good. (I'm NOT saying he was bad but he was white hot on Thursday.) Still a great great show though.

Just got back from the show. It was a good one at a great new venue.

You've seen the set list, so just a couple of observations:

*Before the show started, Bill Wyman walked across part of the arena floor with an entourage before disappearing, presumably having just been to wish them a good show

*Keith refused to let YGMR end and kept the song going into extra verses. It looked to start with as though it was to annoy Jagger and I thought for a while things could get messy (just like the song ended - messy). Thankfully, i think he was just playing but it wasn't at all planned, I am sure

*When Jagger was playing harmonica on CYHMK, the cameras zoomed in on Keith with his arm on Ronnie's shoulder, watching Mick play and looking very happy indeed. In fact, M&K even hugged halfway thru a later song and seemed to be very genuine

*Ronnie and MJ were basically on fire, Charlie solid, Keith better than of late

*Keith looked at one stage as though he was going to light up a cigarette on stage to annoy the organisers.... but then he thought better of it, chucked away the box of matches and - so it seemed to me - appeared to eat (!) the ciggie! (Did I really see that right?)

*Great choice of YCAGWYW & PIB lifted the show to a new level, esp. after the B stage which really rocked on Satisfaction

*We got a much extended BS finale with Lisa and Bernard joining on the main stage

That's all for now... apart from:

*During his spot, Keith wrapped up by saying "See you all again soon". MJ thanked the crew and the audiences who've been to visit so many shows over so many years... and

*Based on tonight's level of performance, there's not a cat in hell's chance this was their last ever show!

CHEERS BOYS FOR ABB!

Well, if they play New Orleans again around that time, I hope it's in the arena. It's too friggin hot and humid here that time of year!
