Interesting piece, thanks for posting!
Sounds very much like what most (?) of us think on clearer days.

Sorry, but there IS a time limit. They, like ME, ARE getting on. One day they WON'T be able to go into a studio and see what happens, coz one of 'em won't be around.
I admire Keith's eternal PeterPan optimism, but mate, look in a mirror. You ARE getting old. You might like to believe otherwise, but one day you'll get the tap on the shoulder...
It's the truth and it's how I feel. They are acting like they're still in their 20's or 30's, or even, God forbid, their 60's! GET ON WITH IT.

... But after 304 pages it totally obvious Mick and Keith are Peter Pan and we here are the lost boys and girls.

Adele I don't get. She's compared with The Beatles now (chart success). To me it's middle of the road muzak.
Of course, Beatles did simple music in the beginning. But at least it was something new.

do we really need a new album to start fan reviews?
The Stones released a new lp?Quote
hopkins
this new lp proves their deep talent not only intact but commanding and beautiful.
this new lp is ok, some of the songs are reminiscent of better songs, some good ones.
this lp sucks i have had it i'm not here to be screwed after waiting this long.
i became a fricken grandfather since starting this countown . ripff.
this lp is better than exoms, it's dynamic contemporary production
and persective makes it more key. Darryl has finally nailed some of what Bill was about.

Maybe The Who will make them get off their asses and DO SOMETHING.

A shame Keith and Mick can't see eye to eye on the making of the new album, but could be some deeply rooted dislike for each other.
Mick did say some time ago (to paraphrase) that 'Keith will veto an idea or dislike something in the studio just for the sake of being difficult'.
And more recently in regards to Micks 40 demos, Keith said "being prolific don't mean shit"...clearly it's not all a bed of roses.

My interpretation is not that they don't see eye to eye in dismay. They have been working on this together for a few years .. as per Charlie, Don Was, and Keith's comments. I simply think they are trying different mixes to see how they will fit together on this album .. some with more Mick's liking .. some with Keith's.
Sounds like they plan on making it the best batch taking different mixes that will make the strongest possible album. At least that is the way I am getting it from George Licks .. as he said a few times.. They want this album to be really good .. he mentioned they have high hopes and high standards for this record and they plan on working to make it just that.

I am really glad that the Rolling Stones have never been following the Who too much. Some eleven albums accomplished in sixty years, farewell tours one after the other, no matter how many original members is died, and the big-mouth Pete is suddenly finding a muse in himself and keeps big time shouting that to press. And making a recording session some sort of Big Brother show.
I am really glad The Rolling Stones has never been any bloody Who. And never will be. They simply are just way too better, sexier, more profilic, interesting, hit-capable, artistic by nature, no-bullshitting, non-double standard and everything. Da Stones. The greatest rock&roll band in the world. No any bloody second-grade Who.

The Who are a fantastic band that give the Stones a run for their money live decade after decade, can't understand a Stones fan hating The Who with such venom, Pete is a genius writer guitarist and Roger's vocals are sublime.
Pete and Roger don't need the original line up, just as Mick and Keith could have replaced Ronnie and Charlie had they past away decades ago.
Yeah sure the Stones are a better band on all fronts but why the Who bashing.

Has Rich Cohen been to any RS shows since 1994? His book (which I bought and read) doesn’t indicate he has. He better go to Chicago 2019 and pay out for good seats like the rest of us.
