honest man could be a great new single .....
A 24 years old song new?
Tattoo You has songs from 1972 to 1981, the oldest one had 9 years at time of release.
Now on 2017 we have to go to 12-13 years ago to find the NEW outtakes, some of them (Nothing On Me, Illusion, Trouble) were used by Keith on his latest solo album.
Mick has over 40 new songs written during the last 10 years, he did use 2/3 songs on Superheavy + Doom and Gloom 5 years ago, Keith has 2/3 riffs or ideas, very much on the "One More Shot" type I bet and a ballad.
We'll get that, the best of Mick's demos (or the most 'Stones sounding' ones) with a couple of Keith contributions here and there.
After 55 years we can't ask for more, a decent set of new songs at this point, not more than that.
A 24 years old song new?
Why not? It's a ROLLING STONES song. They wrote it, but did not release it until now. At this point I don't see the difference between a 9 year gap (Tattoo You I) or a 45 year gap between releasing a GREAT new version of Fast Talking Slow Walking.
Why NOT go into the recording studio and make an album like this:
- New 2017 versions of three/four old outtakes (Honest Man , Fast Talking Slow Walking, Strictly Memphis, unknown outtakes...there must be a few...)
- Two songs written by Keith
- Four/Five songs written by Mick
- One song written by Ronnie (Jagger, Richards, Wood)
- One cover song

Do you think that next December could be a good opportunity and the probable month for the issue?!I think so and it could be an Australasian Tour in early February(Exhibitionism moves to Australia in 2018)or an US Arena Tour that should be good for album sales don't you?!

That song is horrible. As in (awful bad) Jagger solo crap.

If all of the new Jagger-demos were of Honest-Man-quality, the new album would be in stores already.

If Honest Man had any quality, it would have been on Voodoo Lounge. While the music is quite ok, the vocal melody shows that Jagger does not know what to do with this track, it sounds forced and constructed and consequently, the track was left in the can.

Back to the point of this thread!!
The new UK Tax year commences 5 April so there could be a regrouping in London in the next few weeks.

....too much info ... can someone decipher it all for me ...
Now, wait a minute, I suppose this would be very interesting, but of the members of the Band, isn't Robbie Robertson the only one left? I could be wrong.Quote

Honest Man is great indeed and almost the only VL-outtake/leftover worth listening to. Too bad they didn´t finish it and put it on VL, would have been one the album´s top highlights. It´s not crap, it´s straigtht rocking with good lyrics. Maybe you confuse it with other crap from Stew, Brew, Residue (there´s a lot of).
Finishing it now for a new album would be nice, but all vocal/instrumental tracks of course have to be newly recorded takes, no using of old material allowed.
If all of the new Jagger-demos were of Honest-Man-quality, the new album would be in stores already.

Honest Man is more or less a demo, it is not quite finished and needs to be worked on. But it shows GREAT potential. If they would record a new guitar heavy version, Honest Man could be a smash just like Doom And Gloom, even better.
