They charged 60 D-Marks - a very high price for those times.

Yes, my Ticket from 17-Aug-1995, Berlin Olympic Stadium, states 65 D-Marks, while my Ticket from 13-Aug-2007, Düsseldorf LTU-Arena, states 188.90 EUR. And the seats were comparable ....

There was a big jump between BtB and Licks and another between Licks and ABB.

I got golden circle standing for both Berlin and Hamburg on Licks for 90EUR.

60 DM in 1990 is basically the same as maybe 50 or 60 EURO now inflation-adjusted. Do you get a Stones ticket for 60 Euro? Agree that 60 DM in 1990 were not seen as cheaply.

On the Urban Jungle Tour it was £23GBP+Fees to see them at Wembley. Even by the BtB Tour in 1999 that had only risen to £30GBP+Fees.

Probably due to the Tax issues in UK in 1998 .... [www.iorr.org] .

1998 -- € 50
2003 -- € 70 to 90
2006/7 -- € 112-130 (Front of stage)
2014 -- € 150 - 200

Yes I know about those smiling smiley Their UK shows were postponed for a year and it was anounced on BBC radio just as I I was getting up early to get ready to travel to Paris to follow Scotland to the 1998 World Cup.

However, that story had a happy Stones ending smiling smiley I was leaving the Stade de France after Scotland lost 2-1 to Brazil there when I noticed billboards advertising the Stones' BtB show at the same stadium, 6 weeks later. I got some details from some Customer Service people and got a ticket. My 1st concert outside the UK by anyone and I went to 2 further BtB shows that Summer and have been to loads more gigs abroad by the Stones and others since then grinning smiley.

At least musically (or performance wise) there wasn't a big jump between the BTB and LICKS tours! Pretty damn good!

Here's a possibility. The offers are for stadium concerts. Something caused a delay, so perhaps they are looking into shows for later in the year? How would stadium concerts in the winter go over in Europe?

impossible to use the stadiums in winter for two main reasons. Too cold and for soccer/football tournaments

A link to existing indoor stadiums (or stadiums with a retractable roof) is not the same thing as suggesting they would actually do a winter tour. Many artists play concerts in these stadiums during the winter months, but doesn't mean I believe the Stones will.

"Winter tour in closed European stadiums? Nonsense"

Well why not? The roof stayed on at certain places in 2014 and the sound was great, so surely it could happen no?

I like that wiki-link, 2 outta 17 stadiums are within walking distance from me....

You have no tourists in town, people are not in the same good mood as in summer, there may be travelling problems. There has never been a stadium tour in Europe in winter for obvious reasons. Even the arena tours in the 70s took place from late April to mid October.

I think he hints on an arena tour in fall/winter with possible club concerts to be added. The last arena shows in Europe were played 2012 at th O² in London.

Why should they do it? For 25% of the usual money?

They played arenas in 2014 as well.
Oslo, Stockholm & Dusseldorf for instance.

These aren't arenas. They're all football stadiums. Oslo had a fixed closed roof and the other 2 have sliding roofs. I was at Oslo and Stockholm.

That's stadium sized arenas.

All shows in Europe in 2014 had the stadium stage setup. The arena stage was only used in Australia and China. I was at the concert in Dusseldorf and it for sure felt like a stadium show. There were over 40,000 people.
I think they won't play stadiums in the fall because they would have to find stadiums with closeable roofs. If they are willing to play stadiums at that time of the year they will have to think about playing outside in freezing temperatures and rain like it was on some shows of the fall tour 2006 (that were great shows "She Was Hot")
Don't know if they want to do that again though because they pretty much avoided these conditons since 2006. An arena tour seems more likely because it matches the idea of playing some blues songs on stage. Imagine if they would add a B-Stage again with 4 blues numbers being played there.

The Stones have played their share of stadium tours in the fall before so it's not unthinkable that they could do it again.

If they can play in the summer of 2017 or 2018 in Europe, why should they even consider playing in the Winter where less people would turn up? Even their arena tours were always in spring, summer or early autumn. At least in Europe.

There's one obvious reason they won't play arenas in Europe ...money . As they want to earn about $1 million each per gig no promoter will touch them. Look at the frankly disgusting pricing in Vegas. I can't see that washing in any European city, not even London

I know this is off topic, but I thought relevant to what's been discussed

Didn't they get exactly that in Norway, Sweden and Germany in 2014?

If you do the maths: No. $4 million for the band would mean for $200 per ticket at Waldbühne just for the band. No venue, no promoter, nothing else would have been paid. And highest tickets were 250€. Not possible.

No they didn't really. It's why a fall arena tour in 2013 didn't happen

They are not just in for the money. Remember the 2002/2003 tour where they played theatres and arenas at a regular basis all over the world.
Their last club concert that was announced in advance was back in 2014 at the sands grand ballroom in singapore. I wouldn't completely cross an arena tour out for the fall. It is difficult to set it up in Europe for sure but if they really want to do it, it will happen.
As I said, they are avoiding stadium shows in the fall and winter nowadays. The days where they started the tours in September in the US with stadium shows until December and January are over.
The latest they could do a stadium tour is maybe August/September.

well, at least in Germany the weather in September is usually much better than in June (in fact it's often very rainy in June and sometimes quite could, too)

I had tried it here: [iorr.org] .

5 Million US-$ per Show could mean 1.7 Million revenue if production costs are 2/3 of the entire costs.

1.7 Milllion US-$ revenue per Show (before Tax) could mean 250,000 US-$ each for Mick, Keith, Charlie and Ronnie - plus approx. 100,000 US-$ for each Touring-member (Darryl J., Chuck L., Bernard F., Sasha A., Matt C., Tim R., Karl D.).

For 5 Million US-$ must an Audience of 50,000 people pay 100 US-$ each for Tickets - further costs could be covered by Sponsors.
