Thanks for the update bv, so there goes Paris on June 24th...Bercy then, hopefully with a GA, don't think I'd go back to the O2 like in 2012, that ship has sailed.

Hmmm...kind of disheartening.
Was hoping for Goffertpark in Nijmegen as I might be back in the Netherlands during July to visit family and friends.
Fond memories of the ABB show there - made a special detour in our itinerary to see the show and spend a couple nights there - cool city!
Most of all though, feel bad for those who were counting on and really looking forward to these summer shows...a lot can happen between now and fall - hope it happens! thumbs up

Thanks BV.
The Stones deserve any break they take. They are and will be the greatest.
I hope they will dust the Tongue Stage for a fall tour winking smiley

oh, i should say this fall, just saw BV's post.

Yes exactly..that's the reason. A summer tour would have given me the opportunity to see them the way I like it. Fall means indoor shows. But it's ok for me. I already have tickets for 10 shows and festivals from end of may to end of july. I am fine.

A new album would be great but I am not willing to attend an event show for event hipsters who pay every price to be there. I resisted 2012, so I will in future. But I do respect feelings of other fans who will join. And I wish that every single one has a great time. I would buy a lucky dip. But not for a show far away from my home. Did 23 shows of ABB Tour. Remember Lausanne Plexi, where I got to know your wive and your lovely daughter Whitney. Or Werchter where Thomas LQ and me (not Steffi BTW) got a spare FOS chain for you (you landed Bruxelles at that time). Great times. Things which will never happen in a Opera seated show thing. Times are changing you know.

This may be silly but I am appreciative they keep the hope alive because
if they announced 'sod it, we have enough $, we're done'
that would be tough for the fans. We've come this far and are having such current RS fun.
And if the RS are looking for a nice payday for the crew but in a smaller venue,
might I suggest a live stream for a fee? Many of us would pay a fee for live and party w/ y'all at the same time via internet...it's the wave of the future ;-)

Great thing is, that now this thread will probably hit 100 pages until anything real starts happening! smiling smiley
Anyway, I have never seen The Stones in an arena, hopefully this time then, if the prices not totaly insane. I am willing to pay more than for any other act, but yea, I have my limits, which I think is what I paid for the FOS at Waldbuhne in 2014.

wondering what the reason is, why they decided to possibly tour in the fall? too many other big bands touring in summer?? cant believe the reason is recording for the new album.. Health issues?? Charlie promoting his new album?? Hpe Ronnie will do some solo gigs..

Shame, I'd have liked an open air summer show, but I'll take whatever there turns out to be. Anything indoors is going to be expensive, though.

My humble guess is, that as Keith says, during the outdoor gigs God joins the band, which I think is way too risky at this stage. I mean in June you can easily have 15 degrees and raining cats and dogs. It is not the most likely weather, but it can happen. Performing for 2 hours can be seriously dangerous for four 70+ years young men. Arenas provide way more controlled environment. I can imagine they really wanted to do it one more time and all those negotiations were almost done, but they pulled the brakes and decided to play it safe. It is just my imagination of course, but it makes sence and if that is the case, I say it is a very wise decission.

There is not a single reason but more like a total of many reasons why they look into fall options. It is hard to keep a lot of options open until a short notice of 1-2 months. The European summer tour season is short, basically June and July. It is easier to book on short notice outside the high season.

I spent the summers of 2013, 2014 and 2015 on tour, I would not mind spending the 2nd summer in five years with my family. If you go to one show per tour then a summer tour is ok, but if you go to many then you sort of loose out on the best part of the year at home.

I don't like indoor - seated - venues. Unbelievable high prices?

The higher the ticket prices, the better! At least if there are lucky dip tickets (the higher the prices for regular tickets, the less good seats will sell and end up in the lucky dip pool)

Well it is only logical since U2, Liam Gallagher,Bob Dylan and Guns & Roses are all hitting Europe this spring/summer. I'd love an arena tour in the fall. Much better suited for the boys and in European arenas we always get GA anyway, except in England. If they'd play The Point in Dublin for instance it would surely be GA as usual right??

The ticket prices in USA have been up to US $1,500 up front, which is pretty steep. Good news are they can't get that money in Europe, may be 500 max, that is USD or Euro, pretty much the same these days. I do still remember the show in Zaragosa Spain a while back. The pit was literally empty, we were may be 50 people in the pit shortly before show start, even if it cost marginally more. Then they opened up and filled up with fans from the GA area half an hour before show start. Most fans can't afford to pay a lot to see concerts in Europe. There is a limit of 200 or so Euro.

It closed in 2007. 3Arena is built on the same site, but quite different to the old Point.

Of course the Stones are in a league of their own but the vast majority of the earth's population are not possessed with the same knowledge as us (which I would consider a blessing, imagine the fighting of getting that front of stage spot before every show!!).

I mean I wouldn't go to a Guns n Roses gig even if I got paid, but a lot of younger Stones fans probably like G n R's a lot as well and couldn't afford both. As far as Bob and Our Kid are concerned I'll catch 'em both twice this year, U2 are a drag not interested (but they are quite popular regardless of our preferences). I am just happy we get a chance to (HOPEFULLY) get the boys in arenas in the autumn....

My bet is tiw will cost what Adele charged for her European shows + 50% extra cost.
50% more cause the legendary Stones should be more expensive than this 2nd rate overblown pub singer, right?

Hey guys.

With BV new info I can now confirm that June 24th isnt looking good here in Paris.
Offer is still there but expires real soon.

On the other hand, rumors started this week about the opening of the new beautiful Arena92 in Paris.(40,000 indoor setting)
Slated to open in September for Rugby, they are looking at a BIG concert show in the Fall to start it off.

So it's all clear, Bercy is LiveNation owned and Arena 92 is on the brink of going to AEG for exploitation.

Hope we all get some news real soon, i'll try to keep you updated.

I can live with 200 Euro or so, though I grudge it. Personally, I'd think the standing pit would be even more than that. Whatever price the market will stand, an arena tour will be far less profitable than a stadium/festival tour due to the sheer numbers attending the latter.

It must be non financial reasons that are making them consider an arena tour - no Weather issues to worry about for a start. Or maybe they just fancy a restful Summer. My parents are the same age as the band and they both retired 15 years ago!

I guess it is not money or a wish for a restful summer that is the reason for this probably delay. It is more likely to be connected to U2, Guns'n'Roses and others also on tour in Europe this summer - but it may not be competition for tickets.

The Stones will sell tickets even if U2 was in town the previous week. But maybe the venues cannot do too many gigs in one month, or there is not enough sound and lighting gear or staging for 3 or 4 parallel big tours?

grzegorz67, they may not have standing pits anymore. For the last shows in Las Vegas, there were no pit seats, as I recall, although I wish they would have them as they did in the past, with the tongue pit or just a regular front standing area.

gotdablouse, you wouldn't go back to the O2? I dunno, that might draw me to Europe, such good memories of those last shows there.

Few Stones gigs in autumn is really Not what i was expecting. I can imagine how difficult and expensive (because of secondary ticketing)will be to get a ticket. What can I say? I understand that there is a reason about this decision, but personally i am Not happy

If we are talking about an arena tour in the fall I can't see the numbers adding up. The only comparable US date in the last 3 years was Vegas last October. Most of the A blocks (which had been extended to row z to reach the half way line ) were only available as "VIP" or "premier" tickets for around $2500 - $4000 and even the lower tier right to the rear corners were over $1000.
I got lucky with the best tiered seats for $600 each as a reseller panicked when the 1st night was cancelled.
Unless the band are willing to take a major drop in income or they can find a financially suicidal promoter, I can't see it happening. Hope they are still capable for a Summer 2018 toursmiling smiley

Can they play stadiums that have closed roofs in November?
Will it be warm enough inside?
Seems a lot of such stadiums around Europe now.
These are big ones with huge crowds possible.

well, they the the O2 in LOndon in 2012 as well as a lot of indoor venues in the USA in 2013 (see: [iorr.org]) and I don't think they lost money on those tours
