I want a new album...and a new producer.
Please, stop with Don Was. It's time to replace him.

Call in Jack White as producer. No current Stones, or hired stage gun, on bass. Pull in some new keyboard players. No throwaway Chuck Berrycrapola, ala Sad, Sad, Sad, etc. Keep it to 12 cuts and make them as tight as possible. Air it out, don't let studio techniques overwhelm the organic sound of the music. Ask Mick Taylor to play on a cut. Ask Bill to play on a cut. And do it nicely. Maybe this isn't the last tour, but it could be the last album. Seriously.

Jack White has produced crap his whole life. This guy has no clue. And you wouldn't know who played bass of keyboards on a record unless you read the credits.

I hope there's a new album.
I hope there's no Don Was. I hear Glyn Johns is available.
I hope as well as writing seperately, Mick and Keith actually sit together in the same room and write a few tunes together.
I hope they stop using open G. It's a total bloody cliche and i'm sick of it.
If they do use it they should use it on a track called Stuck In A Rut.
I hope they record together in the same room without click tracks/drum samples etc..
I'd really like them to have a fresh go at Blood Red Wine and Travelling Man.
No reason they can't revisit quality old tunes that haven't been used. Better than recording something completely sub-standard.
Let me broach the subject by suggesting MT's token appearance on the album could be lead guitar on Travelling Man.
WHoever does end up producing, i hope they are able to take the band on when something's crap. Nigel Godrich did a good job on McCartney apparently telling him "that song's crap we're not doing it". About bloody time.
Being realistic, i suppose there's a chance there might at least be a new album some time but i don't hold out much hope for the rest.

In today's USA today there is a big Keith article
He says he is "applying pressure gently" for their to be a new stones album
Makes it sound like it's not decided at all

It may be possible that the article was written before the iHeart radio interview was conducted. After making international headlines with the announcement of a new album, I would doubt that the Stones rescind the statement.

Yes Jack White productions are a mess. Almost a joke.

If i am not mistaken, it has happened before... I think Keith at least announced several tours that didn't happen. If you're right about the timing then the USA today reporter didn't do a good job.

LongBeachArena72, would you welcome a new stones-album, if they had a singer? How did it come to this that this Mick-guy can push Keith around and humiliate him for so long? Stop this bully! Keith´ book should have been called "balled and chained".

"Earlier this year, Mick Jagger hinted that the Stones had new material for a potential album. “It would be very nice and I’ve got a lot of new songs and songs I’ve written over the last couple of years,” he said. “I’ve done really good demos for all of them, which I would love to record. So, let’s hope so.”"
We want an 'old school' album, not another BTB or A Bigger Bang. Please Mick, use that home made demos for your next solo album.
No songs ala Goddess/Alfie/Superheavy on a Stones album.

I've already suggested a way forward: THE ROLLING STONES PRESENT: CROSSEYED HEART II w/ Keith, Ronnie, and Charlie. It can't miss! Just need to find a way to keep that Jagger guy out of the studio.

I haven't seen a good producer suggestion on here yet, save possibly Glyn Johns, and the Stones would treat him as an engineer and his ego would get in the way. I don't know who could produce the Rolling Stones at this point, probably no one. The problem is they can't produce themselves, because Mick and Keith can't agree. Don Was acts more as a referee than anything else, he's not to blame.

Jack White is one of the few geniuses in rock, producing new sounds with the blues root still intact. He's one of the very few rock artists where I still buy the whole new CD and listen to it as a whole.
And just because your ears are dumb as far as bass is concerned, don't assume mine are. The second I first heard Plundered My Soul I knew it was Bill. But you're right, in that if it isn't Bill, it could be anybody, and they ain't good.
