I also would rate Marquee over Leeds.I love Taylor ripping up Brown Sugar at the end. Love the loose and funky satisfaction and bitch. On Dead Flowers did they edit some of the close ups on Taylor's fretwork where Jagger is in the way of his playing.

play the guitar boy.

Hey all you out there Who's so unsatisfied with the releases from the vaults. I think that The Stones are giving us, there fans some quality releases, from different areas of their long stint in rock'n'roll. Of cause their is some concerts that would be great to have, but I think that they are giving us the best. Many of you Who critises listens to bad mobile-phone recordings of concerts at think they are great, but they arn't. Many of the concerts and recordings you can find on You tube, are a disgrace to a great band, really not worth a listen.
I hope of course that we the real stones fans get more great monments, and everytime The Stones send something on the market it's great stuff. The only thing I really miss is the "Sweet Summer Sun" japanese bonus cd.

from a real stones fan from denmark

Mwah, spoiled ... We pay for it, don't we? But like I said those alternates are just fun for a one or two time listen and then it's over. I would exchange them for the rest of the Roundhouse setlist songs without thinking.

It's never over. You'll pick it up again when you want to have a listen. Just like I did today.

I love the Marquee performance. I got the blues, Dead Flowers and Let it Rock are great. I prefer it to the Hamptom 81 and LA forum 75 releases.
I have always found the Stones live sound from 81 tour pedestrian and the 75 performance far too sloppy and uninspiring.
Marquee was a loose performance but it has that magical quality only the Stones can deliver. If only the Madison Square Garden performances from 69 filmed for Gimme Shelter could be released in their entirety that would be magic!

Pretty much sums it up for me too.

Yeah Bitch is fantastic and CYHMK offers a nice look into the band's creative process.

I want the DVD + CD version of this Marquee 71 release.

At my local recordshop(s) I can only buy the 1 DVD version or the vinyl LP + DVD version.
In my country (The Netherlands) the biggest (and smaller) internet shops only have the 1 DVD version or the vinyl LP + DVD version with a one day deliverance.

The DVD+CD version is nowhere to be seen at my local recordshop(s) and takes 3 to 5 days to deliver when ordered thru internet in The Netherlands.

thumbs down

Bitch is on my cardio play list. The CYHMK demo metamorphoses into a Sympathy riff but is a nice fly on the wall perspective into the making of this classic. Dead Flowers is amazing on all these releases.

I do.
These 5 are so much better than the more or less half baked Exile alternates, although some of them are fine.

the new Marquee release...

I got mine and I find it really underwhelming. Thin-sounding performances--why the hell they didn't let bobby solo on brown sugar is is beyond me - sounds/feels like a tepid rehearsal. Save your money.

It was sort of a rehearsal. They played to the cameras..

I like this show and also the version of MR. It is not their best show of 1971 but it is good

Roundhouse, Leeds 71, Marquee are all fantastic and demonstrate why the Rolling Stones are (i. e. were) the greatest band on earth. Every gig is a new adventure ...

Interesting...I'd confirmed with amazon just this week that for sure they will be sending me the vinyl and not the cd/dvd combo as while my order says vinyl the link on my order goes to the cd/dvd combo.

We'll see what happens!

There is...actually 2 thick jewel cases + booklets inside a cardboard sleeve

Indeed.

You shouldn't have posted those pics... I now need mine.
I think I'll send a mail today to my contact in japan!

My set arrived today. Have watched half of the Marquee-Bluray, which really looks amazing - and now I listen to the Brussels-cd, which is even more amzing. I am sure that the booklet not in anyway match the book in the expensive collector's Brussels (which I hope to see one day), but is so nice that Brussels now is possible to purchase on cd. It's superior to the FLAC-download - and simply a must.

And some people as well. I heard some applaus anyway. I wouldn't call it some sort of rehearsal, it was meant for TV broadcasting, wasn't it?

BTW: does someone still listen to the 5 alternates? I don't.

Can you (or anyone) please explain what the alternates are? From different shows? Rehearsal footage?

BTW, just picked up my copy from Best Buy, just to get the $3 off coupon for Hyde Park. I haven't had a chance to open/listen yet.

Oh, okay, thanks ... I wasn't paying attention

I thought he was talking about the 5 extra tracks on Marquee:
Alternative takes:
(1) I Got The Blues Take 1
(2) I Got The Blues Take 2
(3) Bitch Take 1
(4) Bitch Take 2.
Top Of The Pops Performance of 'Brown Sugar' from 1971

Obviously the 5th is Top Of The Pops ... but what about the first 4? Is this a rehearsal of some sort? It appears that way from the description but I haven't listened yet.
