The thing that strikes me with Solo Taylor, compared to Stones Taylor is the lack of a driving/dynamic blues band behind him when solo.

The ebb and flow the stones both give, and feed off Taylor was/is great but his solo/slots outside them in general always seems abit 'quieter/tamer' dynamically. I never really get the sense of a mutual feeding off each other.

John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers with Mick Taylor - Oh, Pretty Woman

MT trades licks with Buddy Whittington starting at 7.33

I agree besides with the Stones and Keith , MT's days were with Mayall kind of sad that he wasted his solo career with only two albums.

But he played great on all the collaborations he did with other artists especially with touring with Dylan in 1984

Thanks for the 82 Bluesbreaker link, loved it!

That's what I thought when I first listened that tone and phrasing just is killer and that's what is missing all these years since he left.

God damn he's still got it. Seen the video before but always makes me happy. Criminal that he's not on a world stage more often. When used right he's still fantastic.

As for the Dylan thing, I still love that whole Real Live album.

I agree with you. Such an amazing gifted talent that it never got the attention it really deserved. He could always make other peoples music shine, no matter how mediocre. It's really a pity he could not find commercial success for himself.

Imagine if Mark Knopfler and MT went on tour with Dylan in 1984 that would of been

a dream but MK had to leave as producer of Infidels and tour with Dire Straits and that left Dylan to finish the record and thus some great songs left off the record. Blind Willie, Foot of Pride et.

One of Mick Taylor's great session work was with Joe Henry on Murder of Crows from 1999. MT guitar soars all over the record.I can't find my copy or I would post some songs but what I can remember MT soars on the first 4 songs below. Also Chuck Leavell is on panio. The record is out of print some used copies on amazon.

Disc: 1
1. Step Across The Mountain
2. Right About Linden
3. Here And Gone
4. Lose Me
5. Hidden Man
6. Falling Soon
7. She Is Sleeping
8. Vigilante
9. Siren
10. Six Feet Into The Country
11. Map Of Belgium

On the road with Mick Taylor (Part 4)

MT talks about his work with Dylan. Amazing that MT says his best part of his career was with the period he worked with Dylan.

Great version of Blind Willie MCtell
