Hope to see some of you guys at Hyde Park on June 26th. Couldn't make O2 gigs or RAH but looking forward to June with Paul Weller and Vintage Trouble also on the bill. smileys with beer

I'll be there in GA queueng from 10-11am thumbs up

80 quid all in. IMHO, excellent value for money considering the support acts too.

It sounds like there will be a substantial IORR presence there on the day to "cheer on the 2nd team" grinning smiley smileys with beer

So Sad About US is one of the best of their early originals. Such a beautiful haunting MOD ballad. Brilliant!

Hi PW,

Yep, I'm down for Wilks & those other Acton chancers, hah-hah!
Pub from 1645-ish is [www.thequeensarmskensington.co.uk] and then into what is probably my favourite concert venue in the UK. Mildly excited...standing in row 11 of block G in the stalls.

Safe journeys and the very best of shows to all IORRians!

Cheers,

Simon.

Broadly speaking, the answer is yes, Tom. My experience is that most modern albums by acts of the Who's vintage contain some songs which are just plain bad, and Endless Wire is not an exception. But there's enough good music on there to justify the purchase.

Hi simon, trusting you will have a great time tonight. strangely i was chatting to one of Brums coffee owners and we was talking about music venues and he said the worst was the royal albert hall, basicaly said it was to old and uncomfortable in this day and age. I couldent say yes or no to that, as i have never been, but i did say it would be a venue i would love to go to.
Enjoy anyway.thumbs up

Seen about 20 gigs at RAH in last 20 or so years, and everyone a winner.

The Who are always good there and other memorable shows were Bruce Springsteen solo, Elvis Costello, Cream and also a couple of Proms.

Have a great time tonight, everyone lucky enough to be going. smileys with beer

Yes, I agree with crawdaddy, having been to the Albert Hall on countless occasions it is a great venue, with the exception of the gallery up in the gods which is best avoided. It offers a great sense of occasion as well, rather than feeling you are standing in a warehouse (such as Earls Court, Wembley Arena, etc).

I'll be at the RAH this evening

The last (and only) time I saw The Who was Shepherds Bush Empire in 1999 - great gig apart from PT throwing a strop at some comment from the crowd.

The last time I saw Wilko Johnson was in Camden on his "farewell, I'm dying" tour - I am so pleased that turned out to be a false alarm. First saw Dr Feelgood in Portsmouth in October 1975 - almost 40 years ago.....

To PTownshend ...........

Question: what went kind of wrong at the end of Won't Get Fooled again on the Monday night gig at the O2 ?

Not that it in any way detracted from the overall show, which was just a blast from start to end and I thank you for it hugely, but it didn't go unnoticed. Your recovery was brilliant however ... must say.

See you tonight at the RAH, and for that matter in Hyde Park, and in Paris (both nights). All the best, and thank you for the music

How does that look to you?

Saw Choir E6 which is Row 5 came up on RAH site just now. If I was in London I would go for that. Saw a gig from there once and first few rows are pretty good.

A bit "side on" and especially in row 11 (the last row) IF the seat numbers are approaching the end of the horseshoe (the highest being I seem to recall 171 or 172). But it's pretty much sold out - so GO FOR IT !!

Yeah go for anything half decent. Just looked at Choir and worked out E is East and W is West. E3 came up a few minutes ago. Last time I saw The Who at RAH, got Row 8 Front Arena on day of show. Anything can,and does come up at times.

OK !! winking smiley

The WHO at the RAH yesterday Thursday 26th March 2015 were simply wonderful. A word about venues, there's just no comparison between the O2 Arena and the Royal Albert Hall, the latter feels like a cosy little club as compared to the warehouse-like O2.

As for the performance, having seen them both - the O2 on Monday 23rd and the RAH three days later, I think the RAH performance trounced the one from three days earlier. Pretty much identical setlists, but Messers Townshend and Daltrey seemed curiously more relaxed, the onstage banter was charming, and it somehow felt as if the first couple of shows they had done (the O2 on the 22nd and 23rd) were like warm-ups for this one. They had by yesterday evening truly got into their stride. Very personal highlights for me were gems like Pictures of Lily, See Me Feel Me, Join together ... and if there's one song the WHO could never get away without playing, it is Won't Get Fooled Again. And needless to say they closed with it. Perfect rendition, unlike at the O2 - where something went wrong at the end ... Daltrey and Townshend lost each other. There was an awkward moment when the entire band were looking at one another with that "what the f**k is going on here" look on their faces. Not at the RAH - 100 percent bang-on.

To all people in N America. The WHO are doing shitloads of dates starting in mid April, "coming to a town near you" as the saying goes. Do NOT miss this band as they come round, do yourselves a big big big big big favour and go and see the magnificent WHO.

Nice review, paulywaul. thumbs up

There were some talks last year about some South American concerts, but it seems thar it's not gonna happen. I will try to go to NA and see both bands, the Who and the Stones. winking smiley
