So glad it worked out for you Wroclaw.

Hope to see you and anyone else from IORR at Hyde Park next summer, June 26th, and The Stones playing soon after in London. smileys with beer

The RS in London live is a joke, right?

It's just my speculation they will play Hyde Park on Sunday June 28th as only day of weekend not announced yet.

Newly minted Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Joan Jett and her Blackhearts will open for the Who‘s 50th anniversary tour when it hits North America next year.
The tour will land in the U.S. on April 15, three days before Jett is officially inducted into the Rock Hall at a ceremony in Cleveland. The first date is in Tampa, with Miami the following night; the tour will resume the night after Jett’s induction in Jacksonville, Fla.
The Who Hits 50! tour started in Glasgow on Nov. 30, but recently came to a halt after singer Roger Daltrey came down with a throat infection. The last two dates of 2014, tonight and tomorrow in London, were postponed and have been rescheduled for March 22 and 23.
The North American tour is divided into two parts, a spring section that includes 20 dates that run through the end of May. The concerts resume in the fall with an additional 25 or so dates that will continue through the end of November.
“Having Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, a great American rock band, support us on our North American dates will ensure concert-goers a full night of entertainment,” Daltrey said in a statement announcing Jett’s opening gig. “I love her.”
“We’ve been very close friends with Joan Jett for a long time,” added Pete Townshend. “She is the real deal. This will be a great night of rock and roll for everyone.”

I'll be catching a show on the second leg in October, so hopefully Vintage Trouble will be opening--which makes more sense since VT have the same soul influences Mods could identify with.

She opened in '82 so it seems fitting. Yes, entire tour. Wilko Johnson was considered but he is not up to the rigours of touring.

Doesn't make it any more or less likely that I'll go. It does make it more likely that I'll still be drinking in the parking lot while the opening act is playing, though.

Just noticed on Ticketmaster UK that there are tickets available in a variety of price ranges for the Hyde Park show. I'm surprised. Looks like I will be in London then so I may go.

I just watched the Who performing "The Seeker" from a recent Jools Holland show. Thought the band sounded really good but wasn't too impressed with Roger's vocals. I know he is trying to save his voice but it just doesn't sound right to my ears. Not sure if I'm going to ante up or not for the tour. I've seen some phenomenal Who shows & I have a feeling that they're not going to come close. Will admit the set lists have been intriguing. Back to the vocals, IMO Mick doing a much better job nowadays than Roger.

That Jools Holland appearance was from 2007.

Daltrey's sounded much better since his throat surgery in 2009.

Thanks for the clarification. Appreciate the info. The episode I'm watching is sort of a best of. We get Jools here in the states on a channel called Palladia. Its definitely a hodge podge & sometimes hard to ascertain when the episode (or segment) was recorded.smileys with beer

Roger has been telling the crowd to "be lucky" at the end of shows for years.

It goes wayyyy back. I have a recording from 1979 of a show I attended, where Pete says Be Lucky at the end to the crowd.

Yes Rodger has struggled with his voice. I saw one show in Chicago where he had
To walk off the stage because he couldn't breath. Pete took over and sang My Generation. Must frustrating for Rodger.

I was at this show as well! It was entertaining to at least see Pete sing one of his most famous songs onstage. If I remember it devolved into more of a jam after Pete sang some signature lines.

I doubt the Who will have to pay dearly for her+ group opening for them.

Yes Happyjack seeing and hearing Pete take over My Generation was a treat. Sorry
It had to come at the expense of Rodger though. This has probably already been
Discussed but one of the best Who performances, in my opinion, was at the
Concert for New York after 911. They blew everyone away including all the other
Acts. More than made-up for their dismal live aid performance a decade and a half prior.
