I still find it interesting on this board that when the subject of Bruce comes up, I can expect the usual suspects to chime in with their usual derogatory comments. Maybe devoted Stones fans see him as a threat, I don't know... I have been privileged in my life to see some of the best artists (Stones, Elton John, Billy Joel, James Taylor, Pink Floyd,The Who, Paul McCartney, REM, Clapton, U2, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Simon & Garfunkel, Grateful Dead,Frank Zappa, Santana, Buddy Guy, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Sonny Rollins, Dave Brubeck Quartet, Billy Preston, B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, John Mellencamp, John Lee Hooker, Chrissie Hynde & the Pretenders, Elvis Presley, etc) on this planet. Last night I watched the American Music Awards show as they showcased the current field of what they consider to be the "best and the brightest" and even though there were a few artists that I enjoyed, I couldn't help but think that it's really the end of an era for folks that I grew up with who made a major impact on music & wrote the soundtrack of my life and this includes the Stones as well as Bruce Springsteen. Although the Stones will always be my favorite band, the night of 9/24/1984 at the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium with Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band changed me forever and gets my vote as the single greatest concert I ever attended. To the naysayers out there, if you have never had a chance to catch Bruce in concert, do so, cause like the Stones, you may not be lucky enough to catch 'em the next time.

I like Bruce. I like his band. I love many of his songs. I just can't stand his voice.

I get a chuckle when you mention Springsteen's voice (and in particular his singing style). I had the chance to see him on the River tour when he came to my hometown in 1980 or 81, but I passed it up. Until that time, I really couldn't stand the guy. During my college years, I lived on a floor with two guys who were obsessed with Springsteen and they played Darkness, Born to Run, Greetings From Asbury Park non-stop, and I would say to them, "Why do you like this guy? He sings like he has got marbles in his mouth!" A few years later, a buddy of mine had extra tickets for Buffalo, NY in 1984 at the time of the Born in the USA and I went to the show reluctantly and as a favor to my friend, and crazy enough, I was so blown away by his performance, passion & intensity that I became an instant convert that night! Regarding his singing style/range, I actually think he has gotten better with age. A great example of this is how he uses his falsetto voice when he and his wife duet on Mansion on the Hill from the 2000 live concert in NYC (i.e the reunion tour). It is simply beautiful and very powerful.

lots of photoshop work to do on them.
I guess that's the easiest way to replace Clarence. Not too crazy about it myself. But won't stop me from going.Quote

From what I've heard, the tour will have a horn section.
