Sorry, but Bruce is finished as a singer. Good guy, though.

Does Bruce know this yet?
This is awful...why do I always find out on a Stones board?

Crap

I don't know. Did Muhammad Ali know he was finished? I like Bruce as a person, just can't stand to hear him sing. His fans love him and that is all that matters.

I still find it interesting on this board that when the subject of Bruce comes up, I can expect the usual suspects to chime in with their usual derogatory comments. Maybe devoted Stones fans see him as a threat, I don't know... I have been privileged in my life to see some of the best artists (Stones, Elton John, Billy Joel, James Taylor, Pink Floyd,The Who, Paul McCartney, REM, Clapton, U2, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Simon & Garfunkel, Grateful Dead,Frank Zappa, Santana, Buddy Guy, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Sonny Rollins, Dave Brubeck Quartet, Billy Preston, B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, John Mellencamp, John Lee Hooker, Chrissie Hynde & the Pretenders, Elvis Presley, etc) on this planet. Last night I watched the American Music Awards show as they showcased the current field of what they consider to be the "best and the brightest" and even though there were a few artists that I enjoyed, I couldn't help but think that it's really the end of an era for folks that I grew up with who made a major impact on music & wrote the soundtrack of my life and this includes the Stones as well as Bruce Springsteen. Although the Stones will always be my favorite band, the night of 9/24/1984 at the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium with Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band changed me forever and gets my vote as the single greatest concert I ever attended. To the naysayers out there, if you have never had a chance to catch Bruce in concert, do so, cause like the Stones, you may not be lucky enough to catch 'em the next time.

I'd rather see "Rockman" doing Springsteen karaoke, than see Springsteen live.

Sort of like the Stones? Most of their shows that I have been to, they sounded great, then I hear a live tape or boot of the same show and they sound less than stellar. There are quite a few bands out there that sound much better being at the show than listening to a live recording.
If someone doesn't want to see a band because they just don't like them, I have total respect for that. After all, that's how I feel about the Dead, but I did make it 1/2 way thru one if their shows.

Sweetcharmedlife, it is still quite civilised here, I am surprised the real Springsteen bashing hasn't started yet. One has to go to backstreets.com to read some really nasty comments. Like...How dare he to put out a new record and go on tour... There is nothing better than some fans...In fact the Stones' fans look like Springsteen lovers compared to Springsteen fans now (at least some of them).

As for me, I am impatiently expecting the dates and hoping the ticket's won't go on sale in the second half of the next week when I am in Germany to see Macca and won't have an access to the internet...

What I like about Bruce and Macca is the 'get on and do it' attitude when it comes to playing live and bringing out new albums.Bruce has got at least a band as big as The Stones ,but probably has a lot less people on his payroll, and he is a world class act like The Stones,Macca,U2 and a few more.Macca and Bruce just announce a tour without any hype or build up,or 'will they, won't they be touring' or that sort of crap. It's just so refreshing and good to hear news like that. winking smiley

not at all like, actually. i like (most of) the stones music. i don't like (most of) bruce's...and i can't stand his stage manner...the whole jock rock persona. and that gawd-awful way he sings. there ain't a chance in the world my opinion or enjoyment would change because i was at a show...that's a ridiculous notion.

Yeah I know. I went over there yesterday after the tour was announced. Those people are more miserable than us.LOL. Seems Springsteen had to announce some dates earlier than he wanted because some of the festivals he's playing were going to announce thier lineups anyway. But seems like still a good chance of a spring U.S. start.

I just found out that Vienna and Berlin go on sale at the same time. It will be tough to get standing tickets for both...
