Question About Oldham Orchestra Credits
Posted by: sf37 ()

I'm confused about some of the early tracks, specifically on Metamorphosis, regarding which ones are truly the Stones and which ones are credited to the Andrew Oldham Orchestra. Also, some of the various outtakes aren't quite clear on this to me either. Are these outtakes credited to the Oldham Orchestra or the Stones?:

365 Rolling Stones (One For Each Day Of The Year)
Funky & Fleopatra
I Know
And The Rolling Stones Met Phil And Gene
Oh, I Do Like To See Me On The B-Side

And which tracks on Metamorphosis can the Oldham Orchestra lay claim to? Am I forgetting about some others ambiguous ones too?

Thanks for clearing this up!

Here is what I have for the credits In quotes. These ALL come from the original singles. TAOO is The Andrew Oldham Orchestra. TAOG is The Andrew Oldham Group. Both are the same, but always have different players...sometimes includes some of the Stones, sometimes it doesnt.

UK F.11817 A side...To Know Him is To Love Him (Cleo) b/w There Are But Five Rolling Stones (TAOO)

UK F.11829 A side...Animal Duds (Jeannie and Her Redheads) b/w Funky and Fleopatra (TOAG)

UK F.11864 A side Shang a Doo Lang (Adrienne Poster) written by Jagger Richard b/w When a Girl Really Loves You (Adrienne Poster) both produced by Andrew

UK F.11878 A side....365 Rolling Stones (TAOO) b/w Oh, I Do Like To See Me on the 'B' Side (TAOO)

UK F11987 A side Right of Way (TAOO) b/w D' Same Size Boots (TAOO)
UK F.12354 Everywhere I Go (Bobbie Miller) b/w Stu-Ball (Ian Stewart and the Railroaders) written by Wyman/Stewart

All the Above are DECCA UK

US Parrot PAR 9684 A side....Theme From "The Dick Van Dyke Show" (TAOO) b/w Oh, I Do Like To See Me on the "B" Side (TAOO)

US Parrott PAR 9745 I Get Around (TAOO) b/w Save It For Me (TAMO)

Hope this helps....

See For Miles (UK label) has a cool comp w/ Oldham's b-sides (featuring various Stones on several trax) called "Rarities" (SECD 394, issued 1993). I used to have an interesting comp from the same era with other RS-related trax like "Shang a Do Lang" and the George Bean J/R single, as well as Jimmy Page session work, a Birds (Ron Wood) single & other goodies - a roommate stole & sold it. Anybody recall the title or if it's still in print?

Is the song Oh, I Do Like To See Me on the "B" Side the same piece of music on the following singles:

UK F.11878
US Parrot PAR 9684

I remember a thread a while ago where there was some confusion about different song with this title.

The two songs are entirely different and with different composers.
The US one has a subtle title change....."Oh How I Like To See Me On The
'B'-side" and is composed by "OLDHAM". The US single was not an official
release, only a DJ release. The 'A'-side(Theme from Dick Van Dyke Show)had
an official release in the UK on a 4-track 7" ep titled "TV Themes".
Neither side of the US DJ 7" had any Stones involvement.
