I have no idea what that is supposed to mean...

There's a distinctness to his current voice over the 1978 voice - back then he was a bit more lazy sounding, had a way of dragging the words out more without so much pronunciation of things; now he is very sharp about that, almost to the point of overdoing it to be so precise.

BORING...
Instead of wasting time on the past why don't they get together and make something current and push this thing as far as it can go?
Is there anything more boring than a 33 year old outtake of a half baked song?

They did that and it didn't work.
Remember A Bigger Bang?
There is something more boring than a 33 year old outtake that's a half baked song - it's called Streets Of Love. Or Sweet Neo Con. Or Rain Fall Down. They couldn't do something as simple and flowing like this, especially since they don't have Bill Wyman to make it move. There's more interest is doing this kind of work than something new.

Wonderful stuff. The new vocals and lyrics fit the song well.
I love how people suddenly get disappointed that a 33-year old outtake that theyve already heard and which most people asked to be released ISNT a new Brown Sugar.

I really like it, but yeah, seems an odd choice for a single release.

I do. It keeps me 'regular'.

Thanks very much, Carter.
I'm really expecting a couple of Jagger-Richards-Wood credits, but we'll see. "When You're Gone" definitely should be.
Here's my pass at the lyrics:
NO SPARE PARTS
Your Daddy drank himself half to death when he was 39 years old
But I hope you don’t think I feel like a father to you
But I want to tell you I miss you so much, you’re a thousand miles away
I’m at the wheel of my car and I’m coming on home to you
Lonely Hearts, they’re not made to break
I got no spare parts; I got no oil to change
Honey, I ain’t accustomed to lose
If I want something bad enough, I always find a way to get through
I take 210 to Phoenix, I’ll be in Tucson by the afternoon
Get some shut eye in Vista and a bite at the greasy spoon
Took the turn off 90, I should have stayed on the interstate
I was lost in Rio; my map was kind of out of date
I saw the lights of Markham; I guess it was a scenic route
When I had to change a tire, I’m glad I wore my western boots
Lonely Hearts, they’re not made to break
I got no spare parts; I got no oil to change
Honey, I ain’t accustomed to lose
If I want something bad enough, I always find a way to get through
When I got to Sonora, the sun was shining in my eyes
With the air combusted, the windshield full of flies
In just a few hours, you’re gonna fall in my loving arms
I been so hot to see you, I set off the fire alarms
Lonely Hearts, they’re not made to break
I got no spare parts; I got no oil to change
Honey, I ain’t accustomed to lose
If I want something bad enough, I always find a way to get through

It's a bit shorter than the boot on youtube.
Was looking for a marker of some kind to figure out if they edited part of the middle out or just did a fade after 4 minutes and found a part on the youtube when Mick is saying something like I want somethin' bad enough BABY - a mild freakout. On the new one Mick does it except he draws it out a bit more and it's not quite as effective.
Overall it's pretty good. There's a distinctness to his current voice over the 1978 voice - back then he was a bit more lazy sounding, had a way of dragging the words out more without so much pronunciation of things; now he is very sharp about that, almost to the point of overdoing it to be so precise.
Nice harmonies. Sounds like the acoustic is new. Other than that and the vocals it sounds stock 1978 to me. And wow it's great to hear Bill playing like that.
Thanks for the link Carster!

Thanks for taking time to do that, it's a nice pass at lyrics. Although I think Markham should be Marfa, he's probably referring to the Marfa Lights

I think some of Mick's backing vocals are the original vocals.
