Your site is great, Janne!

I'm just a beginner when it comes to collecting, though. Recently, I started with the singles.

You're in for trouble if you're a completest. I started with 45's, first US with picture sleeve, then UK, then albums US, then UK, then everything in a 'sealed condition' (that is challenging)...it just never ends.

True! I've been ordered to take a break now winking smiley

Me too, the last one I bought but didn't get yet is a 1965 UK forth label "Out of our heads" - then I will have a break too :-)

OK, I know I've posted on this one before, the Stones Vinyl boxes...has anyone noticed the fast rise in price on these, particularly the 1964-1969 box?

Look at what they want for it on Amazon:

I don't think I've seen a new box set of this under $900 lately, anywhere.

I think they average $1300-1500, but I've also seen them much higher, $3000-4000 but $8700 is unbelievable.

Doesn't mean anyone will pay that much, but what is going on with this set?

PS, they originally retailed at around $250, and I know I purchased mine on amazon for $160 in 2010. Anyone else nab this when it was first released?

Well, - for me, - I think it´s the South African ´73 release, of
Goats Head Soup, -
with the vandalized censored version of Star Star, -
with the whole chorus - Starfuc#er - Starfuc#er - erased, -
blurring it out with a big bass drum -

I do have pictures of my record, - but simply don´t know how to
uploade them here, - stupid me -

but if some of you want´s them, - please send me an email to
henrikbb@live.dk -
and I´ll send them to you !

If you go to a photo posting site, like photobucket.com, you can sign up for a free account and upload any photos you want there. You then post the img link they provide onto your IORR post. Very easy to do!

Sorry, the 'img' link is just a link option they give you. img stands for image.

I want to SEE how good a record collector you actually are!

If you have image files of any of your albums, why not give it a try...you have nothing to lose, except a few minutes of your time.

If it doesn't work, coming whining back here...I'm sure someone more literate can give you better instructions that me!

Good luck!

OK Henrik 88, here's one I just uploaded:

These are obviously the CLEAR vinyl ABKCO's that were released last spring, for Let It Bleed, Beggar's and Hot Rocks. I bought them the day of the show last year, Toronto June 6...this isn't my photo though got it off classicrock.com. Mine are still sealed.

Anyone else grab these last year? I don't think they've gone up in value yet. They retailed for $22 each for LIB and BB, and $32 for Hot Rocks.

They look cool...maybe I'll open one...one day.

OK!
Picture Disc time!

Does anyone have any? I'll start with the first 'official' Stones picture disc, which is a French release from I believe 1970. It seems to be simply called, The Rolling Stones and it's on DECCA...here we go:

the flip side:

and the back cover, the front cover is simply a cutout showing the record...odd song selection, HTW, JJF, Little Queenie, Carol, Satisfaction, LSTNT, JJF, UMT, The Last Time, SFTD. Sort of a greatest hits, but not really:

Anyone else have this, or any other picture discs? I don't think too many 'official' ones were released.

YOU DID IT HenrikBB!!! Very Educatative indeed! (spelling will be your next task!)

Congratulations...great photos too. Nice closeups, you can really notice the textured nature of the cover. Hadn't seen that before.

What kind of condition is the vinyl in?

- What a task ! - still think "educatative" is a nice word ! drinking smiley -
well, - I´m Danish, - so please forgive me ! -
The cover shows, that it has been stored in a stack of records, -
for a very long, - the spine has turned into a part of the
frontcover . . .
but the vinyl is fantastic ! !
showing hardly any signs of ever being played !

US promo...very nice. I have quite a collection of promo's myself.

Great on the vinyl condition for GHS.

I really don't buy any vinyl nowadays, unless it's pretty pristine, or so exceptionally rare that you'd be glad to get it in almost any condition.

I think I'll look through my own promo's and see about posting some.

Now that would be great ! -
Especially - for me - if you posted the London-promos, - where the content
differs from the "normal" releases !
To my knowledge, there is only a very few London-promos that
are outstanding -

Jumpin Jack Flash, edit version - promo, - labeled 2.42 (but plays 2.55) in Mono
and Stereo - I´m still looking for the Stereo . . .

She´s a Rainbow / 2000 LYFH - edited - 2.48 / 2.52

We Love You, - edited to 3.10 (the one I posted) -
please note that most of the orange-label London-promos, -
has the 4.39 normal version, - the 3.10 is exceptional -

Street Fighting Man - Mono, - alternate vocal, - released on the single,
with the legendary US Riot-PS -
and on the orange-label promo -
- but had a CD-release on the (EU)- Singles Collection -
The London Years - 2002 - ABKCO

If you have any knowledge of other unique promo-releases -
Mono - Stereo - edit - ?
please post ! ! !

Here are some I've posted previously (yes, I know it would be a lot of pages to wade through). Most of these are from the 70s, but I have them from all eras:

I have 5 Brown Sugars all NM...two of these I believe is a test pressing...no tongue on label:

A pair of Wild Horses, also both NM:

Let's Spend the Night Together, from 1982 movie release...have two of these. I think pretty damn rare (not mine pictured):

Time Waits for No One...pretty rare:

BTMMR:

and here's a GHS juke box release:

Great items indeed ! ! !
The BTMMR - is legendary, - Mono/Stereo - So is BS - Mono/Stereo - and
WH - long and short, - Mono/Stereo
which goes for TWFNO too - Mono/Stereo . . . .

The promo-LSTNT/SMU - is surely rare as a 7" in itself, -
but both tracks, - to my knowledge - are on "Still Life" - ?
Please enlighten me, if this is not the fact !
Will still be very pleased about additional info -
concerning sixties London promos !

Tell Me
Heart of Stone
Satisfaction (2)
19th Nervous Breakdown
She's A Rainbow
JJF (2)
SFM (3)
HTW

I thought I'd had more! Looks like I better get me to EBAY!

Well, - I suppose it all depends on how you collect !
Personally my collection is CD-based, - but what is not CD-released, -
I buy on vinyl.
For me, - the only promos I have vinyl-interest in, - are where the
the content differs from the "normal" versions.
So when it comes to the orange-swirl-promos, - I still think it comes down to a few :
The SAR / 2000 LYFH - edited versions, -
JJF - edited, - Mono and Stereo -
WLY - the 3.10 edit -

If you, - or anyone else, - can tell of 60ties promos -
where the promo-version is different to the regular release -
your info will be more than welcome ! ! ! smiling smiley

You may want to expand beyond the orange swirls in that case. I'm going from memory here, but I believe that there were some special Canadian, coloured 45 vinyl releases in the late 70s, some of which had different edits.

I believe SAR was one of them, and there may have been another one or two.

I don't have any of these, although I'm sure some aficionados on the board probably do and can further enlighten us.

I believe these releases are not inexpensive either!

I am familiar with the existence of those coloured-vinyl singles from

An ebay purchase? Would it be gauche to ask what you paid?

Re: Let's talk RARE Stones vinyl

Over the past few months, I've picked up an original pressing of GYYYO on 100% virgin vinyl [not the record label!] (mint vinyl-no skips! Reasonably good cover, bought second hand-they tried coloring in the bottom blue border with marker!)
In addition to that, I also got what I think is a first pressing of 'Dirty Work'-Better than I thought it would be, no red wrap, though...

How rare is the original (US) Big Hits High Tides mono lp? I had a chance to pick this up at a local record store but not being much of a mono fan passed.
