Thanks for still posting pics here Boston...you've always been quite good about that through the years whereas I've been a bit remiss in the last couple!

Just picked up this one:
Through The Past Darkly from Spain, some kind of book club edition.
Have Through The Past now with Octagonal cover, black corners, white corners, 'no corners' and now this one with light blue corners....

LOL, the live EP (Got Live If You Want It) has the entire EP on both sides, not I'm Moving On and I'm Alright on side B as it says on the cover smiling smiley

Sad to think maybe people have to sell their collection or perhaps they died and the family is selling it. But also some people have a change of heart and stop collecting, or rocking for that matter. From the picture I thought that was a big variety of Stones LP/CDs. Some I know and others not. One that sticks out to me is the Urban Jungle box. I've always liked that tour artwork.

Interestingly, I don't. Could never get it for a price I could live with. I have the 1980 reissue of course, and a couple of copies of the new version released this year.

Not necessarily rare but...scored a very nice copy of 12x5 Mono, LL 3402 "boxed" today at a local shop. Just a question... the trail off matrix reads AL-6493-1A on side one and AL-6494-1A on side 2. Does the 1A usually mean first press?

Any help will be appreciated.

All these records are so amazing. Does anyone know where I might be able to pick some up locally. I'd even be willing to travel to the Bay Area. Locally would be better though.

For those wondering about the prices in Dandy's pictures. 1000 NOK (Norwegian Crowns) is about 120 USD...

We have some musical experts that would know better than I, but generally yes it would mean first pressing. And when you say 'boxed', does it contain ffrr in the box? I believe that's relatively important to determining a first US pressing. I've just pulled one off the shelf and I have 1A/2A so theoretically yours is an earlier pressing than mine.

As an aside, I have another mono copy that doesn't have the London ffrr logo in the box, just open letters where the matrices aren't machine punched but what looks like hand written and end in 1E/1E so clearly a later 60s pressing.

I've been told the rarest of this ilk are actually the original stereo pressings as they were rare in the early/mid sixties and didn't outsell the mono's until much later in the decade.

If you're willing to travel, you should at least consider looking at EBAY as you have the world at your fingertips and it would be rare to come across something as expansive as in the Oslo shop we're talking about.

Also it's important not to overpay for these joyous slabs of vinyl and I find that retail stores often have a very large premium for Stones vinyl. Another good alternative is to look at vinyl fairs that pop up all the time...I'm just north of you in Vancouver and I've made huge hauls for very little money in those circumstances. Happy hunting!

The record store is in Akersgata in downtown Oslo.

Thanks treacle, No, mine does not have ffrr anywhere, cover or label.
