450 wristbands and even then, no guarantee of meeting him.

No cameras, one book per person, no memorabilia.

Jeez, expect crazy scenes down Piccadilly that day......

OK guys, what time do you think you'll be getting there? This all sounds like a lot of hassle to me, but will pop along if others are. I've already pre-ordered from Amazon, but it is Keith Richards after all.

i'm not kidding.

Thats what happened for the Cheryl Cole signing there, 2 weeks ago.

It's a regular occurance.

Cheryl Cole is an X-Factor judge with an army of young, tasteless, foolish fans. I can perfectly imagine it with someone like her - but Keith Richards? A 66-year-old with a lessening relevance and an ageing fan base? I find it hard to believe that he has that many fans who'll camp out for him. In '66, perhaps - but today?

Ade, are you seriouslygoing to camp out? I'm bloody not!

Dang!!

I'll miss the great man by 3 days; I'm in London 28th, 29th and 30th October

My only hope is if Keith comes over here to Dublin to do a signing, even though the Waterstones sites says London is his only UK 'gig' for it.

F***!!!

I'll probably head up to Piccadilly on my motorcycle at 6:00 in the morning and get in line then, can't really imagine how many people will already be there by that time ... but it suffices to say that I don't think it'll be 450. I can't see myself doing the "overnight" thing, not in central London on what is bound to be a cold, wet, and f***ing freezing November day. I'll take my chances with getting there as early as possible on the day.

Wonder why Keith is doing a talk (and possibly pre-signed books in the US) but a full book signing in London?

2 different publicity events for the two main markets.

Yowzer!!

Will definitely be heading up there as early as possible on the day, but like others, no overnight stuff for me.

Big Al, with regard to what you said about the age thing, McCartney did an appearance (i'm pretty sure it was a signing of some sort) at the virgin megastore/tower records, whatever it was called, in late 2007 I think, and there were A LOT of people camping outside overnight on what was a wet and cold autumn night.

So with Macca and Keef at a very similar age, I wouldn't underestimate the amount of nutters that decide to embrace the elements and arrive the day before!

if you're prepared to stand in a cold (and probably wet) queue for 12 hours plus, then i strongly suspect that investing in another copy of Keith's memoirs won't be a big issue.

Hey Ben,

Good to have seen you again at the Ronnie gig. Sounds like we'll see each other in the queue on 3rd Nov then ? Keep well, Paul

Good luck everyone, and bring warm clothes! Don't get pneumonia or anything.
If you miss your chance of having a signed book, there still might be a possibility here on iorr later.
I'm going to give BV some signed books to give to people on the board. If he'd like to run a competition - that's up to him. Could be fun, though!

Never mind, we can split a bottle of cognac in line outside Waterstones on a f f f f f f f f firkin' freezin' November day to stay warm .... hopefully see you there & then. Cheers
