For $40, you can sign up to be a "friend of the library" which grants you access to a presale for the tickets. I got an email from the library saying that they would go on sale a month before the event date, with a presale before that. I also read on their site that all events are book signings unless noted. I havent seen anything that says it isn't a book signing, so i'm leaning towards it being one. It also looks like the capacity of the room is 500, so a signing would be able to be accomplished? Sounds fun.

please post the link for this. thanks.

just got an email that there's going to be a presale for these tickets for "Friends of the Library", ($40.00) and then those tix will be $15 each.

What if this gig is sold out just to the friends of library presale?

UPDATE - Friday Sept 24th 4pm EST (UTC - 5 hours)

Tickets for Keith at NYPL were supposed to go on sale today but I have heard 2 different--and compatible--stories.

sources: (1) representative at the ticket vender and (2) NYPL employee involved with event

- NYPL originally planned for this to be a 500-person event and are now rethinking that - whether it will possibly be larger, and if so picking which space in the library is most appropriate. Also, they're still figuring out how many comps they're going to give away vs. pre-sale vs regular sale.

- public tickets will go on sale in 2 weeks; pre-sale might be sometime next week. All TBD.

the ticket vendor is showclix.com as far as I knew, they had "no' information. The NYPL employee that I spoke to named Steve works in the friends of the library office at NYPL and told me that presale will be next week and an eblast email will go out - best to get on the email list for that.

He also said being a friend of the library for $40 doesn't guarantee you a shot at the presale. These are gonna be harder to come by than Stones concert tickets!

just an educated guess, I've been talking to both parties for the last month on a weekly basis, now it's down to a biweekly basis as the event gets closer. If I am blessed enough to even get a pair of these tickets, it will make my entire year! Right now I want this more than a stones concert..I know you are a librarian, I am just your average avid reader, I live for my public library system, I let my books go overdue just so I can pay them the fees incurred so they can use the money that they so desperately need.

Now I've just convinced myself to become a friend of NYPL, get on the mailing list, and hopefully take part in the presale which you mention may be next weeksmiling bouncing smiley.

I called my friend Steven at the friends of the NY library office at the NY library, presale and general public sale being delayed a week or so. Reason, Keef's manager/agent is still communicating with the organizers.

yes it is definite, and you are eligible if you are a friend of the library ($40)
then your tix cost you $15 each and no service fees.

They're still working out details like which venue at the library to hold it, how many tix will be for sale, for presale, and given away as comps.
