Van Marwijk will be disappointed. I have to invent a new tactical plan for him. I think I'll say: Keep 4 eyes on Forlán and score more goals than Uruguay. That will do, I guess.

That's it. You're a genius. Now all I hope is that the Dutch coach comes up with the same plan.

When we visited Holland / Amsterdam back in 1995 for
two Stones in Nijmegen, our 10 day trip was too much fun,
and the people we met were great..and it was all great,
and I never forget great people and great countries....and
of course it is easy to be a fan of this great football team...
HUP HOLLAND HUP !!!!!

I suppose you're a fierce Ajax-Amsterdam and thus Suarez fan, Freebird. Well, you'll miss him then next season. He will certainly go to another club, with his divine hands. Or he'll replace football with volleyball. He'll be a great blocker.
So, since you do not address the point I made, you agree that there is no objectively justifiable ground to suspend him for more than one match?

Well, you're clearly an Ajax-Amsterdam and Suarez fan, just like my daughter. I'll have to ask for her opinion. She's also a great football player, two-legged and technically very gifted.

But for the time being I agree with andy js, who said: "In a league match, a straight red card can result in a 3 match ban. I'd like to see the same for blatant mtach altering cheating like Suarez." Because of the over-evident and almost offending way Suarez reacted and talked about his action I think he deserved more than the standard punishment. Also because of what was at stake. This is the utter hand ball and hors catégorie. So a two match suspension would have been appropriate in my opinion. But I hope it doesn't matter for this tournament of course and that Holland will play the final.

It can be even more [en.wikipedia.org], but to the best of my knowledge that only applies to fouls committed against other players, not for handballs.

Before they left South Africa, the England team visited an orphanage. A newspaper carried the following quote:

'It was heartbreaking to see their sad, lonely faces, knowing that they had such an uncertain future and that nobody loved them'

The quote was from Jamal, aged 6.....

Hey, Carlitos,

Your Spanish team sure knows how to keep the tension going during a game.
Fun to watch, but very bad for the heart.
Now the next big game is going to be a real tricky one for you Spanish fans.
This time your team better score the first chance they get. Not many chances will be
given by the Germans.

But first, let's see if Holland can get past Urugay.

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that Germany will win the semifinals. Frankly, Spain has not been very impressive so far, despite people's statements to the contrary. I mean, losing to Switzerland? Only beating Honduras with 2-0? Only beating Chile with 2-1 (as opposed to Brazil's 3-0)? Narrowly avoiding extra time against Paraguay? No, I'm just not impressed. Germany will definitely wipe the floor with them if both teams keep playing like they do now.

As for Uruguay, I fear they may still have some tricks up their sleeves. The fact that it'll be an easy victory on paper is what makes it difficult in this phase of the tournament.

Best team can play Spain, is Germany, because they are gonna be like boxers face to face in every second and in my opinion in short hits, Spain is much better, but I like Germany though
