The unintended but stupid 'karate kick' of De Jong and the acting, diving and the constant asking for a card by the Spanish plus the comments of so many inexperts created a totally wrong image.

Why do you think that I posted this video ??? DOH smiling smiley

In retrospect it's quite fascinating and astonishing that so many people had and still have a totally wrong image of that match. It's worth an analysis by someone of the stature of a 'football Doxa' to answer that question.
YEAH!!! .... "a totally wrong image of that match".
That match was a tie ... with the ref finally relenting
to the constant "begging" ... thus being a 12th man helping
decide against the Dutch (WITH ONLY 10 MEN) in overtime.

AGAIN.....I applaud EVERY team and every coach and EVERY player
who made the final cut to play for the WORLD CUP South Africa...

I guess the stupidfknA-holes in North Korea do not feel the same.

Who know if this story is 100% true ... the press from N.Korea is sketchy....[uk.eurosport.yahoo.com]

North Korean flops shamed in public
Thu, 29 Jul 13:41:00 2010
North Korea's football squad have been subjected
to a public humiliation in the wake of their World Cup failure

The team lost all three games in South Africa, where they were making their first World Cup finals appearance since 1966.

They took the stage at the People's Palace of Culture in the capital Pyongyang while 400 students subjected them to a six-hour reprimand.

Reports claim coach Kim Jong-Hun was made to work on a building site and expelled from the Workers' Party of Korea.

He was blamed for "betraying the trust of Kim Jong-Un", one of dictator Kim Jong-Il's sons, after the country went into the tournament with high hopes of qualifying from the so-called 'Group of Death'.

The criticism was led by Ri Dong-Kyu, a commentator for state TV, which made the 7-0 drubbing at the hands of Portugal its first ever live sports broadcast.

The decision to show the game live came in the wake of an encouraging 2-1 defeat to Brazil. North Korea lost their final game 3-0 to Ivory Coast.

Radio Free Asia claimed the dressing-down took place on July 2, but news only leaked out of the famously secretive country this week.

Japanese-born pair Jong Tae-Se and An Yong-Hak escaped censure, flying straight to Japan from South Korea.

A source from South Korea’s intelligence community told the Chosun Ilbo newspaper: "In the past, North Korean athletes and coaches who performed badly were sent to prison camps.

“Considering the high hopes North Koreans had for the World Cup, the regime could have done worse things to the team than just reprimand them for their ideological shortcomings."

Hard to say Max. I've also read that the players were welcomed as heros. North Korea has of course an extremely scary and horrible regime as for in the first place its own people, but there's still also the propaganda from others. We just don't know, which is a huge problem in itself.

Absolutely Behroez, also because team captain Van Bronckhorst (and maybe some others, like Heitinga) has a Moluccan background. Especially the Christian Moluccan still feel a strong link with Holland and want (more) independency from Indonesia. I didn't know there were people who've lost their lives because of riots after the lost final.

[Especially the Christian Moluccan still feel a strong link with Holland and want (more) independency from Indonesia.

Friends of us are who are Dutch (the wife) and Indonesian (the husband from Sumatra) went to visit family last month in Ambon who work for the police and were stationed on Ambon. They told me they were surprised about the Dutch flags they saw hanging everywhere on ambon in support of the Dutch, yet the same time they were disappointed that Ambon was so Indonesian (Javanese), the city of ambon looks like any other Indonesian city and they saw more Javanese and Buginese and people from Sumatra living there than Mollucans, and not just in the city but also in the villages. This being the case the dream of an independent Mollucans is not very realistic anymore. It is the same in West-Papua were allready more than 50% of the people are "transmigrants" from other islands (mainly Java). It is bitter because it was the Dutch that promised the Mollucans independence but they didn't keep their word. They did try to keep their word for the Papuas and even went to war against Indonesia over it, but they were forced by Kennedy to hand it over to Indonesia in the 1960's. But still, that these feelings of hope from Holland after so many decades still run so deep did surprise my friends and us as well.
