This should be even better than the picture book. Thanks for posting!

It looks like a similar book on the Beatles. That book is one of the most fascinating Beatle Books I own (along with one on the Beatles bootlegs). So if this is half as good as that one, then this will be a keeper.

Do we know the author's sources? Would assume longtime employees are most credible.

The authors are IMO some of the most respected guys on this subject: Greg Provost and Andy Babiuk from the band Chesterfield Kings. Not a tribute band, but a very thorough 60's group who are cut from Aftermath/ Buttons stuff. even the look.
Andy Babiuk has been threatening this book for years. It took a lot more work than the Beatles. For obvious reasons. The release date has been moved back several times; but I have been hoping for this book as the definitive word.

This is so great to hear. Co-author Greg Prevost is a friend of mine, he and Andy both hailing from my hometown of Rochester, NY. I have not seen Greg in quite a while since he left his job at the great House of Guitars right up the street from my house. During the time that I kept in touch with him, he was giving me updates about the book that he and Andy were working on. I have no doubt in my mind that this book will be as good or better than the Beatles one that Andy wrote. Andy & Greg, who are well known in their own right as musicians in the Chesterfield Kings (Little Steven of the East Street Band loves these guys and has promoted them whenever he could), are Stones fanatics who have done extensive research for this book. It was a labor of love for them to work on this book. I prsonally am very happy for Greg & Andy.

Keith Smart who heads up the zemaitisclub. He said that Andy babiuk spent several days w him reviewing the stones related z gear. Keith is an assume Guy and first class all the way and is THE z expert. The fact the authors tracked him down and tapped vast reservoir of z knowledge says that these authors are going to make a killer book.

Go Dawgs!

I heard about this book a few years ago. These are the same authors who wrote the book called "Beatles Gear". Does anyone have that book? I looked at it a few times and must say the book looked really impressive. Andy Babiuk and Greg Prevost are from the Chesterfield Kings and are huge Stones fans.

yeah sounds about right . probably no cooperation from the stones camp .means no book . which is okay . you can probably find out some information from old guitar player magazines.taylor did a interview around 1979 when he had a solo album out . keith was on the cover i think around 1992 when he was touring in support of his second solo album . i seem to remember ronnie having an article also , but i can not remember when . the gear info is out there it just takes a little time and effort to hunt it down .

If you take a look in their Facebook page, it looks like they had some cooperation in the last tour.

The author probably has to constantly re-edit the book after reading the various guitar-discussions on Tell Me! winking smiley

Perhaps Keith is buying some new guitars and more amazing, Charlie with a new drum kit...

I hope that some day we could see his work.

Hopefully these delays are all due to the fixing of facts, new discoveries etc.

Perhaps the author is after an entry in the Guinnessbook of World Records.
the most longest, delayed book release or something like that.

it can't be the time it takes to print it:

The fastest time to print 500 sheets by a colour desktop printer is 7 min 19 sec and was jointly achieved by the Hewlett-Packard Officejet Pro X551dw and Officejet Pro X576dw All-in-One printers as tested in Vancouver, Washington, USA, on 6 April 2012.

I think the delay is because the author is adding a new Scarf section listing all the gear played by the Scarf.

In the official page there is a new release date, again January 7:

The official release date for the Rolling Stones Gear book is Tuesday January 7th, 2014. It’s taken 9 years to finish this mammoth 672-page book and I thank The Rolling Stones as well as the hundreds of people who helped make this historic document possible. The book is now available for preorder on Amazon or at your favorite.

Hope this time is right!
