Quotestupidguy2 Quotesweetcharmedlife Yeah I've heard this before. May have it on some bootleg. Def sounds like a GHS outtake. But to me,it doesn't sound like anything that deserves replacing something that's already on an album. Decent track that might be included on a outtakes release. Not much more than that. I agree. Its great, but like most Stones outtakes, no matter how goo

Quotedadrob Peter Green's technique is very much rooted in Freddie King and BB King (sixties era).....very dynamic, the ability to switch from a heavy to a lighter attack and vise versa. the power and grace of his left hand....and above all being able to access those emotions and portray them with his voice and guitar.. DK had much faster vibrato but was also a truly gifted player singer an

Very interesting stuff. What I find fascinating is the bending up to a G#, which would be part of the harmonic minor correct? Interesting, because traditional Jewish music was an influence he cited. The hammer-ons must be the rhythmic part that keeps it flowing. I guess I didn't pick up on all the half-step hammer-ons going on. I appreciate your input, anything else would be great too.

QuoteNaturalust His technique is pretty simple. He sticks with the minor pentatonic scale almost exclusively and changes it and spices it up by bending and stopping the phrase in time with the drummers and reversing it or continuing on down the scale. His playing is fluid and very in time with the drumming which makes it very groove oriented. His bends are not always on the typical bent notes in

I guess the frethand technique of that sort of continuous, rolling spree of notes (3:40 especially and 4:27). I guess it's almost jazz-like, and if I were to guess I'd say Chicago style Blues? I've heard Clapton do things similar. I feel like maybe he is just rocking back between a few notes, but it sounds like more. If that makes any sense, haha. I'm not trying to imitate him

Peter Green is probably my favorite guitar player, and he isn't really that well known outside of guitar players/blues fans. Here is a great vid of him and Fleetwood Mac performing Rattlesnake Shake when he was in his prime. The improv at the end is awesome, I'd like to know more about his flowing technique if any guitar players out there with a lot of experience care to share, that woul

It's a tough song to sing and play at the same time (coincidentally like many stones songs, wonder why) and I like Taylor's version. I just wish he included a riproaring solo.

I want either Perth '73, LA benefit concert '73 with some of the older gems like No Expectations, or maybe Vancouver '72 to hear some rarities like Ventilator Blues.

That lick on Exile's Loving Cup right after the middle eight definitely sounds like Taylor, his typical tone, sounding different than the other electric guitar too. I can't tell on those lower string runs. I think if Taylor played slide on Happy it would sound more like the Brussels version. On a side note, I always thought Taylor played the iconic run on Brown Sugar! What's

I checked the site and Jagger says I just Wanna See His Face was a jam with Watts and Taylor on bass, but it lists two basses, LOL. Yeah, not much going on guitar-wise on some of those like Loving Cup. Although, on the Vancouver '72 version Taylor throws some nice licks in. Speaking of that Vancouver show, Taylor is smokin' on Torn and Frayed.

I read this earlier and it came to my attention Taylor doesn't play on Let it Loose. I can't hear anything specifically Taylor in that song and I don't have the liner notes right now to confirm. I was wondering what other songs on the album he isn't featured on. Happy, for instance, I remember in the booklet it says he plays, but that's another song where I can't pic

Wow thanks for the info! That must have been amazing to see! His vibrato is crazy on some parts and it sounds somewhat colored. I wish they would remaster the Barcelona concert. I love it when Taylor and Santana play on the same songs! And the Verona, Italy concert has my favorite version of All Along the Watchtower. It is otherworldly.

Don't watch it if you don't think you can handle the images of war and the destruction it causes to people. I wish they just had live footage of the boys.

I play guitar and I have been trying to nail the Mick Taylor tone from his '84 Bob Dylan tour. I think he may be using a chorus pedal;definitely some modulation going on. Taylor really comes in around 1:45. Masters of War:

I found it interesting that in the newly released version, which I suppose is from the night concert, Taylor doesn't close the song with a solo like he does in the previously released bootleg version. When I listen close I can hear him accompany Keith with some licks. Wonder if he broke a string. Guitar players: what's your take??

I was hoping one of the bootlegs is either Perth or the Nicaraguan Earthquake benefit. So I got to thinking why not take the best from the short tour? Brown Sugar Bitch Rocks Off Gimme Shelter (Perth) *Love this version with Taylor playing wah Route 66 (LA) It's All Over Now (LA) Happy Tumbling Dice No Expectations (LA) Love In Vain (Perth) Sweet Virginia You Can't Always

Please release Perth and LA 1973. I hope being the same year as Brussels doesn't prevent them from being Clearmountained. I'd also love to hear the Stones on that '71 English tour when they tried Wild Horses and Knocking.

I was listening to some songs from this tour the other day and I love Taylor's tone on songs like Masters of War, I and I, and All Along the Watchtower (only available on bootlegs). I was wondering if anybody knows what kind of effects he was using? Sounds like some heavy reverb and maybe the neck pickup. I can't tell if he's got some subtle modulation effect too. Anybody have a

Is there any possibility this can be officially released? Not that I think guitar hero is good for anything but turning kids on to good music, but they should release it as an exclusive Stones guitar hero game as well. Give Taylor some shine and release one of the best live performances by the greatest rock n roll band ever!

1733. Who's Solo
Who do you guys think did this solo on the Newcastle version of Star****er? I posted this on another thread, but nobody really took notice. I think it sounds similar to Keith's solo on Honkey Tonk Women, but it is very much different from Keith's solos on the Brussels and Hamburg version of Star****er. Also Jagger says "come on, boy" which makes me think it's Taylor. What

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I saw this the other day and it reminded me of something interesting on the '73 tour. I believe the solo on Star Star is played by both Taylor and Richards at different shows. Hamburg, Keith all the way: Brussels, sounds like Keith as well: But check out Newcastle, sounds like Taylor: Especially since Jagger says "alright, boy", which he seeme
