QuoteEdward Twining Quotekleermaker I won't spoil all the fun here. Just some questions to Doxa and Tele. Doxa, you said: "Let's just say that it is the BEGGARS BANQUET of the 70's - it saved their career and gave them a new life." Could/Would you explain that and what "new life" do you exactly mean? And how long did it last? Any opinions on the titl

About the same for me. I've continued to love GHS over all the years and grown to like Black and Blue too. The deal with GHS is the decadence and laziness of it. That's what makes it so great. Coming Down Again, Winter and Can You Hear the Music.

gosh, I think they should completely re-think their set list. Not a single warhorse. They've got so many great songs that it would be no problem and folks would still love it.

Heartbreaker. Along with 100 Years Ago and Angie. But it was really Heartbreaker. I was only 13 years old and had never heard anything like that. That and looking at the album cover was real cool.

Quotestones2000 I just got this album off eBay, and it arrived yesterday. Man it's good! I mean, all their albums are really good, but this album truly has some really great songs on it. IORR, Luxury, Time Waits For No one, etc. I just think it's so good. Really underrated, I think. What do you all think? I like it a lot. I dig the feel and the songs. It's not the beginning of

Quote24FPS Angie is a wonderful memory. I lived in the Midwest then, and it came out in the fall, as the leaves were turning and thoughts get melancholy. When it would come on the radio I stopped me until it was over. What a lovely song. "All the dreams we held so close...." I liked it too. The guitar part that Keith plays is inspiring, the way he picks out notes, adds little fills,

yeah, a great set list. Brand New Car. Lots of VL songs. Memory Motel, Hot Stuff, Rocks Off, and Monkey Man. No complaints. But I'm biased because I was there. I really dug Satisfaction. It came right in the middle of the set and was kind of laid back. Nice warm evening, great sound.

hey, there's a solo on Saint of Me. I assume it's Ronnie. Or maybe it's a little of both Keith and Ronnie, I'm not sure. Then there's the solo on Let Me Go from the Emotional Rescue LP... this sounds like Ronnie. I nomimate these two as his best.

I give full credit to the Stones for turning me on to Slim Harpo. I liked the track enough that I wanted to dig into it more deeply and get the original. The Stones used to be able to do that pretty regularly. A testament to a great band.

Drop it or play it like Ya Yas. Keith needs to start the song by playing that signature riff he did on Ya Yas. To me, that's the greatest riff of all time. Also, if they played it with Mick Taylor and he added the tasty fills he did on Ya Yas, I could listen to it every night. And they should all trade off on solos. Keith can take the solo after the 3rd verse, Ron the 1st solo after the

I like it a lot. I like Memory Motel, Hand of Fate, Fool to Cry & Crazy Mama the best, about in that order. The only one that drags a bit for me is Hey Negrita, but it still has a good feel and sound. Now, if Worried About You were on it too, then it would be awesome. I dig Billy Preston's contributions. I always liked the record cover with the photos, back when they were records an

QuoteChrisM I've said this before but it bears repeating. If you are serious musician, the best thing you can do is to figure a song out by ear before resorting to tabs, video lessons and the like. If you are not serious well, have at it! I hear ya, but I think it's fine to use all the methods available. Sometimes I'll get tab, video and audio to get ideas worked out. And it

I like Biggest Mistake as well, maybe not great tho. Worried About You rates great along with Start Me Up and Waiting on a Friend. They don't have to be hits to be great. QuoteEdward Twining QuoteDandelionPowderman More mature songs like Biggest Mistake, The Worst, How Can I Stop and Already Over Me (minus the weak chorus!) are not far behind the old greatness of songs like Waitin

I was going to give in to the obvious and say "Start Me Up" or "Waiting on a Friend." But after reading Out of Control, I wondered what about Saint of Me? That's a pretty great song.

Quotetriceratops Quotestonehearted Where was Dave Crosby for the 15th anniversary when McGuinn, Clark, and Hillman reformed to record an entire album, which yielded the top 40 single Don't You Write Her Off in 1979? That project had no Dave Crosby and why should it? It was not an attempted Byrds reunion. When I saw just McGuinn and Clark touring right after that, they played that great

yes, I've wondered this too. The 12 string makes sense because there's a certain twang to it. Wish we had a good live video of Brian playing it.

Quotebatcave The Ramones at the Channel Club in Boston. Nothing even comes close to it. For a couple of days after, it felt like I had cotton in my ears and I was really afraid it was going to be permanent. Though it cleared up, I'm sure that there was some lasting effect from it... Yeah, Ramones in Minneapolis in May 1983. It was real loud. The first 3 or 4 songs were amazing. Then

Quotestraycatblues73 I'm not a fan of GHS, IORR or B&B. GHS is the beginning of the Stones' decline. Playing deep cuts from a lesser album is a surefire way to lose your audience onstage. These albums are not the beginning of decline.

It cemented my Stones fandom forever after. It's special. Yes, I think this is the it. IORR was obviously good enough for me that it started a life-long journey into the Stones.
