Sorry you hate it. It has a GREAT opening riff by Keith and when Charlie comes in hitting the snare drum... well, when I first heard it words couldn't describe my happiness. A very tuneful melody as well. It's the Stones at their best.

Quotescottkeef Well, I just finished watching it.I was there at the concert and it was even better than I remember it! Two things that jump out at me.How much better the Stones were playing than the tour 3 years later and I really miss them. I realize maybe they need the "Rolling Stones Company" to perform now(its been 30+years after all) but this is what I miss, Just the band and a cou

I like it and I loved the tour. Agree about the great artwork. Suck on The Jugular has some nice slide guitar work, I assume by Ron.

She's So Cold - is good. Let Me Go - good, I like Ron's solo. All the rest - not so good. Never liked All About You. Thought it was terrible when it came out... kind of interesting now. Down in the Hole is no good. However, I listened to the record several times a few weeks ago and it made me happy. So maybe there's something there. The drum beat to Emotional Rescue

I'm pretty sure Keith does the arpeggios or fingerpickin, then plays the solo. Brian plays the blues-based rythmn lick.

I saw it last Tuesday too. I was gonna write a review, but then laziness got the best of me. So a short review is in order: it was great. I thought it was equal to L&G. Ron played a lot of nice licks and you can hear both guitars pretty well. Bass was mixed a little too low. Beast of Burden was real good because Ron was playing a nice riff over and over. Ron seemed like he was the &quo

I always assumed it was Billy Preston on backing vocals. I guess now I know otherwise. Nice post. I'm glad this song is not forgotten.

QuoteTitle5Take1 During my initial first listens of 2000 MAN, I thought the lines, "Well, my wife still respects me/I really misuse her" were "Well, my wife still respects me/I really miss you, Sir." (Which, of course, makes no sense.) This makes me totally fired up! I always knew that was a great song.

Quoteslew Its the Chuck Berry intro I do not like it gives the son a whole other feeling. I've always thought the intro was especially well done. I don't think they've ever been able to equal the studio version on stage. To me, it has a laid back feel with power. I'm not sure who plays what on it, but it sounds like it's mostly or all Keith, or maybe Keith overdubbin

QuoteEdward Twining nomis, we are probably closer in our analysis than you may imagine, despite my earlier comment. 'It's Only Rock 'N' Roll' and 'Goats Head Soup' do have a more decadent feel to them, no doubt, which i actually find quite intoxicating. 'Goats Head Soup' is the more consistent of the two in my opinion, yet 'It's Only Rock

The last great album was Some Girls. Tattoo You is pretty good, but the sound isn't consistent enough. Voodoo Lounge might deserve some consideration though.

Edward: I was probably a little bit harsh in my comment, so I apologize. I didn't think that IORR deserved to be mentioned in the same breath as Dirty Work. The first 3 albums I owned were IORR, Goat's Head Soup and Ya Yas. Based on these 3 records, I was pretty much convinced that Sam Cutler's intro about the Stones being the greatest R&R band in the world was correct. So I

But... regarding the comment below, the way I look at it, is if you don't like an album like It's Only Rock n Roll, then you can't be a Stones fan. IORR indeed has some simple and sloppy songs, but that's exactly what makes the Stones great. It's in the feel and attitude, and IORR has it. Take Dance Little Sister, which is about as simple as you get. But to do that and

I loved it. It was exactly what we needed in Iowa in the spring/summer of 1978, being 17 years old, and I mean the entire record, not just Miss You. But with Miss You I think I was already sensitized to the Stones challenging my musical tastes.. ie, Hot Stuff, Fool to Cry. I think I probably thought at the time, "oh no, what are they doing!" (with disco). But it wasn't your av

Every song on it is great. The version of SFTD is what originally turned me on to the Stones, 40 years ago. The rythmn guitar riff that Keith plays is unbelievably cool. He should've kept playing the same part all these years, but for some reason decided to abandon it. Keith and Taylor's guitar solos at the end are perfect.

It was only last weekend that I heard the Stones BBC recordings, which a friend loaned to me. Live in the studio, right? On some songs there's an audience. But it was unbelievable, particularly Route 66. Someone a while back said they'd never heard a good live version of The Spider and The Fly. Well, I would've agreed to that until I heard the BBC recordings.

Totally 100% agree on She Saw Me Coming as the single for ABB. It's song that made me feel the same way as when I first listened to the Some Girls LP. It has an attitude and is loose.

It was the best Stones show I've ever seen (out of about 20 going back to 81). It was a hot, humid summer day in DC. I sat right in front of the soundboard on the field and the mix and sound was perfect the entire show. Every song was enjoyable. Satisfaction was in the middle of the set list and was unexpectedly great (had a 69 vibe to it). Memory Motel, with Mick on keyboards: this was

I agree. "Noodling" is not the correct terminolog; it implies anyone can do it.
