The Mike Love version of the Beach Boys is a fun night out. You expect the hits, a few laughs, and a solid band performing them and thats what you get. The Brian Wilson version ( with Al Jardine & Blondie) is a fun night out. You expect the "genius" Brian Wilson and you dont get that, you get a person who is basically a prop at his own show. Got to hand it to him-- he had a great career and some great hits ! Ruby, Coward of the County, The Gambler. I can remember back in 2011 being driven through the mountains of Nicaragua in a beat up van, and the driver had an old 8-track player with only one 8 track tape: Kenny Rogers. We listened to that thing for hours.

Been listening to their incredible live album "On Tour ( w/ Eric Clapton )-- produced by Jimmy Miller, this record documents their rocking 1969 European tour that featured not only Clapton , but George Harrison ( who was still a Beatle ) and Dave Mason. They were one on the hottest bands in the world in 1969-1970. When they imploded, their members helped produce some of the biggest acts in

This Christmas just spending some time looking at and listening to the fantastic re-released Beatles box sets of Sgt Pepper / The White Album and the new Abbey Road, and I am amazed at the care that went into these over the last couple years.
