Quotejbwelda I saw them back up Neil Young at this disco place in Oakland, the Omni. And with Otis Redding back in the day. Have always been one of my favorites. jb Lucky guy! I saw them play in ‘69 but would love to have seen them with Otis. “Otis Redding Live in Europe” is one of the best, most exciting and energetic live albums of all time.

I have to agree with Loog Droog’s opinion regarding Booker T and the MG’s. Their hits aside, they were an incredibly talented group, with a resume that not only included their Stax “house band” rep, but as Otis Redding’s traveling band as well. As the years went on, they individually popped up all over the musical landscape. A small glimpse of their respect from other bands is from the video of t

Kind of off the beaten path, but: Where Were You When I Needed You by The Grassroots. A close tie for second place: Baby Blue and Day After Day by Badfinger At least for today, those are my favorites.

If we’re talking official releases, I have to go with Ya Yas. Over the years, I have listened to that album beginning to end more than any other Stones album. If it weren’t Ya Yas, it would be LIB, then Aftermath, as it represents a great time in my life. But, I cannot dissect why exactly Ya Yas is my favorite. It just is.

I was lucky enough to see him at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, a venue primarily for boxing and roller derby, in March of 1970. Also on the bill were Mountain and Frank Zappa's Hot Rats, their live debut. Johnny was cookin' at that show. I never understood why he never seemed to get the recognition I think he deserved. As someone pointed out earlier, had he been included in the

bv, thank you for opening up this topic and yet moderating it. I have lived in the USA all my life, growing up in Los Angeles. I have never voted along party lines. I have always voted for the person that I thought would make the best president. In 2016, we had, in my opinion, the word possible 2 choices for president. It was really tough to make a decision. Trump has proven to be all that we

As much as I love the Stones, I would not want to view a concert without a crowd. The energy of the crowd is almost as crucial as the music. It would amount to wat hint a rehearsal. Hopefully, we can view a broadcast of a live show in England later in the year.

QuoteTaylor1 The Ladies and Gentlemen one is the best. The band is great and Taylor’s song ending solo is one of the greatest in rock.No other version comes close . I have to agree with this sentiment. It is a breathtaking performance by MT (in spite of the band somehow skipping a beat toward the end). I also love the "Liver" version and Ya Yas.

QuoteRocky Dijon On threads discussing the tour announcement, yes. That's where Keith made it public. Thanks, Rocky. I hadn't read all the announcement threads. I thought it surely would have been mentioned someplace here. Anyway, good for Keith, a man beloved by so many.

I used to watch 77 Sunset Strip all the time and thought Kookie was fantastic. Then, as a teen, my friends and I would often cruise along Sunset Blvd and we would go by Dino's Lodge, where the opening shots of the show were filmed. It was easily recognizable as the fictional "77 Sunset Strip". Byrnes was also had a bit of a role in Grease. RIP

Quotekeefriff99 I think sports commentators have put way too much emphasis on "rings" to determine greatness. I guess it started with Michael Jordan going 6-0 in the Finals in the '90s...now all ANYONE talks about it "how many rings does X have?". Football ESPECIALLY is a TEAM sport. You can't put a great quarterback on a bad team and expect miracles. There a

I hope the Seahawks will not be left in the hands of a college-only coach of moderate success. Peterson would need to work as an assistant in the pros first, IMHO. It’ll be difficult for anyone to follow Pete in Seattle, some huge shoes to fill. He’s a legend here, but his gaffes are going to be remembered as much as his successes, those being his moment-killing decisions in the Super Bowl and ag

QuoteCBII A row between to very wealthy and famous men? Unless it leads to gun play its of no consequence and drug fueled feuds don't count (even if one of them have sobered up). Now if one pops the other one in the eye and they go on to make one of the best documentaries of the 20th century all is forgiven and forgot by default. We still have the Christmas Cards to prove it. Well said. A

QuoteMisterDDDD QuoteDaveG QuoteMisterDDDD With the Niners win over the Rams the game next week between the Seahawks and the Niners will be for the division title. Tomorrow's Hawks game will still be relevant for seeding though. Today against the Cardinals is not a given. They have given Seattle trouble in recent years, so this is as crucial a game as next week's game against SF.

Always look forward to hearing The Christmas Album by Nat King Cole throughout the season. Favorite song is O Holy Night. It reminds me of when my dad sent my sister and I to go and get some tree decorations from the local store (probably tinsel) when we were decorating the tree. I was 15 and she was 16. That song came on the radio while we were driving to the store. It makes me think of my be
