I love the “so far” at the end of the question. Hope springs eternal!! Compared to so many of you, my moment is pretty small. But I remember it like it was yesterday: When they took the stage at the LA Forum, November 7, 1969. Mick came out wearing the Uncle Sam red, white, and blue hat, and shouted “Yeah!!”. That began an epic, unforgettable concert. The anticipation for that moment was un

QuoteMisterDDDD One of three days in my memory where afterwards things were never going to be the same again. November 22, 1963 December 8, 1980 September 11th, 2001 RIP John Same here, Mike. Those dates are etched into my brain. I clearly remember where I was when I heard that JFK had been assassinated. I was in math class in 8th grade and Betty Goldstein came in crying and told somethin

The sum of the parts equals brilliant rock and roll. They are the perfect storm of rock music: the time, the place, the individual talent, musical compatibility, it all worked. But geniuses? No way.

I watched Season 6 here in the US and have to say that I did not like the “new guard”. All I will say is be patient, lots of unexpected twists and turns. I very much enjoy that brilliant series.

Well, it’s all pretty subjective anyway, so here goes. Not in any particular order: Hush - Deep Purple Can’t You Hear Me Knocking - Stones Crossroads- Cream, Wheels of Fire version Jailhouse Rock - Elvis Ain’t Superstitious- Jeff Beck Group Born on the Bayou - Creedence Clearwater Revival River Deep, Mountain High - Ike and Tina Turner Gimme Shelter - Stones Voodoo Chile - Hendrix

Quote24FPS It's a good song. It never went anywhere in America, in any version. Very few people in their audience would even know the song, let alone know to sing along with it. At any rate, I believe Mick is too timid about setlists to allow Out of Time a chance. The Chris Farlowe version had enough airplay in America for me to get to know and love the song, before I knew it was a Stones

In spite of the interception, Russel Wilson solidified his case for league MVP. He does things no other QB does, extending plays, running for first downs, squirming out of defenders' grasps, it is a thing to behold. He is an elite QB in his absolute prime.

Quotejlowe Absolutely brilliant. Also (of course) that Bill will be participating...it seems quite some time since he was on stage, hopefully a few more one off gigs might follow. Would be nice to think that Peter will be there...many years since he played so perhaps not right to expect him to be onstage. I wonder if Jeremy Spencer will be invited? My first thought was "will Jeremy Spen

In the ‘60’s and ‘70’s he was all over the radio. When I watched The Last Waltz for the first time, I thought his presence was incongruent with the whole of the show. But I realized that The Band and many of the other performers had a great deal of respect for him and his music. I have since come to enjoy and appreciate his artistry and I like many of his songs. He stands tall among bands and mus

I had never heard of him before seeing him open for the Stones on the ‘69 tour. But he grabbed my attention right away. I thought he was brilliant. As for a release . . . I think the market would be quite small. Since that time, he has pretty much disappeared from view. While I would want a copy, I don’t think many people under 65 would be interested. I have vivid memories of that ‘69 show but

If Nina Simone, Patsy Cline, and Merle Haggard are on the list, then it is clearly not an exclusively rock and roll list. That being the case, where is Frank Sinatra??? Dusty Springfield (35) should trade places with John Lennon.

Quotetatters Ginger Baker and Buddy Rich were the two greatest drummers I ever saw in person. And I saw them on the same weekend! Ginger on Friday and Buddy on Saturday, at My Father's Place, a little club on the north shore of Long Island, back in December of 1983. I'd rate it a draw, though I'd hasten to add that Buddy was 66 years old at the time, while Ginger was only 44 and co

Mama, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow up to Be Cowboys sounds horrible. Willie’s guitar is way out of tune and it seems the band cannot follow his lead. He’s all over the place.

Glad that this is posted. My wife and I are enthralled by this doc. I am not a fan of modern country music but the roots of country include blues, gospel, and more. We’re looking forward to the rest of the episodes. Learning about the Carters, Bill Monroe, Hank Williams, it gives me a deeper appreciation for Nashville and country music.

OK, a little late with this but . . . Took the Bainbridge Island ferry to Seattle, had dinner at the Metropolitan Grill. The place was packed with Stones fans, a real electric atmosphere. We worked our way down to the stadium and got in line for the LD tickets at about 7 PM. This was my first time with LD's, so it was with great anticipation that I opened the envelope. I saw that they wer

QuoteShott One thing you want to do in Seattle is take a Ferry ride. Just walk on, shoot over to Bainbridge Island, have lunch or beers, and come back. Also, Jimi Hendrix grave is about 25 minutes south east of town. Yes, you can catch the ferry from the waterfront, near the “Great Wheel” Ferris wheel. It is a 30-minute ride to Bainbridge Island and affords beautiful views of Seattle and Mount
