QuoteHalfNanker we should do a roll call here...see who has gotten lucky with LDs and where. NJ2 for me. During original sale, I could not get any for Seattle. But, last week I saw that MisterDDDD had picked up some for Seattle, so I tried and, sure enough, scored a pair!

QuoteDGA35 I remember when the book came out, Mick complimented it. IIRC, when asked about Stones books, he mentioned Stanley's book. He said at least he knows Stanley Booth and Stanley knows the Stones. Great book about the 69 tour. Stanley is in the Gimme Shelter movie in the scene in the hotel room where they're listening to Brown Sugar. Isn't he also in the scene where th

When I was 8 years old, I discovered Bobby Darin through the song Dream Lover. I loved that song, still do. He had a soulful voice and seemed to be more than that of a manufactured pop star, at least to me. Then a couple of years later, he came out with Mack the Knife. To me, he was the ultimate in cool, especially when I saw photos of him performing in night clubs, a drink or a cigarette in one

Sure, let's ban all lyrics that may be offensive, that may speak of things that are not so moral, and let's make sure nobody's sensibilities are offended. We'd be left with the jam at the end of Can't You Hear Me Knocking!

Lyrics aside, it is probably my favorite Phil Spector-produced song. The energy, Tina singing with complete abandon, the crescendo toward the end, it all worked for me.

Man, 50 years ago I never would have guessed that the 4 remaining Stones would still be around, much less 3 of them still touring the globe. It is a remarkable feat.

Unbelievable, especially given his age. He defies the laws of nature. And, literally as soon as I posted this comment, on the online radio came "What a drag it is getting old . . ." Maybe not so much for MJ.

John Mayall's "Turning Point". When it came out in 1969, I thought it was brilliant. I had seen that incarnation of Mayall's group a couple of times on that tour, with John Mark, Johnny Almond, and Steven Thompson. It was acoustic and was a unique sound for Mayall. But after listening to it over and over, I put it aside and hadn't listened to it in about 35 or 40 years. L

That is a good question, and I really had to think about it to narrow it down. In no particular order: Lady Jane - When Aftermath was released, I bought the LP and listened to it constantly. I cannot explain exactly why I loved this song, but I thought it just kind of carried me away to a different place. I still love it. Ruby Tuesday - It reminds me of a person in my life at the time. L

QuoteMore Hot Rocks Chicago Three Dog Night Blood Sweat and Tears I was scrolling down to see if anyone had mentioned Three Dog Night. Glad to see them listed. Hugely popular late '60's through mid '70's. As for Chicago, I think they were great in their early years, when they were Chicago Transit Authority and still had Peter Cetera and Terry Kath.

Queen fans, what is your opinion?? I have wondered since Adam Lambert became the lead vocalist for Queen, what do fans of Queen think about it? I was never a big fan but there was a lot of their music that I enjoyed. As the years have passed, I have come to appreciate their music even more. I was comparing this to a "what if"; what if MJ couldn't perform anymore? What would S

Quotekeefmick Babyblue--don't let these folks pull your leg. For many many years the Stones have had one main pilot, Art Vandalay. He has worked for the Stones ever since giving up his import/export business. He gave it up because he wanted to focus on import while his girlfriend wanted him to focus on export. Go figure. Didn't he export diapers and import chips? Or was it the other w

I could listen to “Air on the G String” by Johann Sebastian Bach every day and be uplifted each time. Heavenly music. I could also listen to “Ya Yas” every day and never tire of it. Music is a marvelous gift that stirs the soul in so many ways.
