QuoteFancyBluesMan Hello Chris... Don't want to hijack the thread but since you brought up Lajoie and Hartnett, I thought I'd mention ex-Brooklyn/LA Dodger pitcher Clem Labine, who was born in Lincoln, RI, but grew up in Woonsocket. My Dad, who spent some time in the minor leagues (Cardinals), had played some ball with Clem. After Clem retired from baseball, he returned to Woonso

QuoteBjorn Quotetatters Putting Ringo ahead of Buddy Rich had to have been someone's idea of a joke. Right! What a joke. Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa should be at the top of the list. But to compare rock drummers to jazz drummers is like comparing house painters to the Rembrandts of the world. Yes, they’re all painters, but . . .

Quotetriceratops The summer it came out you could hear Satisfaction ringing out everywhere from every tinny AM automobile radio. And of course it sounded great. It was in high rotation on the AM radio stations. We all thought that fuzzy sound was from a saxophone. The Stones recorded and re-leased it very quickly: The Rolling Stones recorded the track on 12 May 1965 RCA Studios in Hollywood,

“Treat Her Right” fit perfectly into the film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, kind of setting the tone near the beginning. I always liked that song.

Quotecrholmstrom It's that time again, thank God! Sorry I'm tardy putting this up but haven't been well. This should be a weird season but hopefully the league will be able to pull it off. This thread has been fun in the past, so let's have some good dialog with no personal attacks. I'm feeling good about my beloved Seahawks this year. I think they are severely underrated

This is a treasure trove of photos from the glory years when they were at the peak of their live shows. (At least in my opinion) And your accompanying stories are the icing on the cake. Again, many thanks for taking the time to post all of these glimpses of an incredible era.

Hey vibrolux, I was at the early show. And what a great show it was! I bought I think 12 or 16 tickets when we got to the front of the line. We were 6th in line and there were 4 or 5 lines. We got the tickets a week or so before the show. We actually had great seats. When we left, there were lines all the way around the Forum for the late show. When I got to my car, I found that every car in that

LA Forum, 1969, first show. He was brand new to the group, and there was an incredible excitement and anticipation surrounding this show for a lot of reasons, not the least of which was to see and hear this young blues guitarist. He/they did not disappoint.

Absolutely brilliant! It looked like one of my high school dances. The song Ooh Poo Pah Doo was played at so many of the high school and community dances back in the day, usually by the Chicano bands in East L.A. The early Who nailed it. Thanks for posting this rare footage.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood A Hard Day’s Night Casino Robin and Marian - I should explain - In 1976, my wife and I, newly married, went to the cinema to see this film. It was with Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn, about an aging Robin Hood and his love for Maid Marian. The music, to me, was hauntingly beautiful, with some wonderful flute (I play flute). About 20 years ago I came across a reco

Quotedmay A nice little read re Satisfaction coming out 55 years ago and blasting through the summer airwaves. I didn't remember the song featured for a moment in the movie Apocalypse Now. What a sequence from the movie. For some of us, a transistor radio was the Walkman of our time. It went just about everywhere with you. So, put on your fave version of Satisfaction, crank the stereo volum

Almost of these episodes were from the early years of Seinfeld, which, in my view, were not nearly as funny or clever as the latter years of the show. I like The Merv Griffin Show, The Dealership, Fusilli Jerry, The Wig Master, Serenity Now far more than the episodes listed. But, again, it is a matter of personal taste. It was all fun and laughter and not to be taken too seriously.
