If it gives kids an appreciation of music rather than manufactured X-factor style rubbish that's fine with me

Fantastic. First time I've bought a single in years, and a Christmas single in decades. Well done RATM, £70k donated to Shelter and a free UK concert next year to boot.

''Mick Jagger once signed up with Lord Weidenfeld to write his memoirs, before realising he could not remember anything and so returned his advance. When Weidenfeld’s publishing house then announced in mid-2007 that it had signed a deal for Keith Richards’s autobiography, I thought fat chance, particularly after he had just fallen out of a coconut tree. Guess what? It’s nearly finish

Saw the Dead Weather in Manchester last week and would highly recommend them. Mosshart has got the wild frontwoman moves down, and Jack's just a genius. If they get near you, go see.

Interesting thread. In the days of IPods I rarely listen to new albums by anyone, in order, straight through, as it was intended. The only whole album show I've seen was Lou Reed's Berlin a few years back and it worked very well, though there is a narrative theme running through the tracks. Also, I believe REM at around the time of their second album (early 80s?) were playing the fir

The Strokes are great. Is This It? is an album I still listen to a lot and is wearing well for 8 years old. Seen them live a couple of times too - great band. Albert Hammond Jr's solo material is well worth tracking down (particularly the lovely 'yours to keep' lp) and looking forward to Julian's new stuff

Can't wait for Leeds - missed out on the cancelled Doncater gig last year so looking forward to this. I'm 47 years younger than Chuck but have NO misgivings about giving it a whirl live. How's the tickets selling?

Yeah I reckon Keith Floyd was the Keith Richards of TV chefery. A cracking personality that just lit up the TV screen. Pig fan of punk too. Shame about Swayze too....seemed a really nice bloke, facing his illness with dignity and a good family man. I'm no fan of dirty dancing, etc. but his work in donnie darko, point break, etc was exceptional

QuoteFrankM Quotecirrhosis Once Streets Of Love catches on, this won't even be an issue. Poke fun at SOL all you want but it's better than most of the songs on Let It Be. The music of The Beatles just sounds old and tired to me. Just my opinion and this is from someone who liked The Beatles immensely when I was younger. ****falls off chair laughing**** Now I quite like Streets of

1990 Maine Road Stadium in Manchester (first night) with the unbelievably bad dAn Reed Network supporting. I was 16 years old and squashed up against the front barrier. Realising this is comfortably over half my life ago makes me feel suddenly ancient at 35 :-(
