A tough battle and a tough gentleman. Very sorry to hear it. Condolences to his family and friends.

I just read about it - even though I knew it was coming - I still gasped in shock.

Rest in peace.

I met Patrick S at an after concert party in LA. Didn't know him but got to talk to him when we both reached for the last baguette left on the table. We ended up tugging for it. It broke in half and he started a sword fight with it, all with a big smile and in good fun. A very nice guy who seemed to stay nice through the years. Not so easy in his business. Best wishes to his family.

Patrick Swayze was a great actor. One of my favorite movies by him together with Kenau Reeves is "Point Break".

RIP Patrick Swayze

I remember when Dirty Dancing was released here, I was about thirteen or so, and I watched it so many times back then (just like everyone elese)...I probably haven't seen any other movie more times than this one. I didn't see it since then until the last month when I came across it and watch it curiously - what it was what I loved so much as a kid? And I have to say I enjoyed it again! With a lot of nostalgy. R.I.P. Patrick.

Really strange to log on today and see on the bbc site that both these people have just died. Depressing.

When I was working as a chauffeur a few years ago, I drove Patrick Swayze many many times, while he was starring in Me and my girl at the piccadilly theatre in London. He was a really nice guy, always used to chat to me and ask me how I was doing. Having seen him almost every day back in 2006 for about three months while he was over here, it's sad to know that he's passed away.

RIP to both gentlemen.

I'm not a big cook or anything but I loved Floyd's wayward persona and the fact he gave two fingers to the Cuisine Snobs by saying it was ok to ingest lashings of booze whilst you cooked!

Yeah I reckon Keith Floyd was the Keith Richards of TV chefery. A cracking personality that just lit up the TV screen. Pig fan of punk too.

Shame about Swayze too....seemed a really nice bloke, facing his illness with dignity and a good family man. I'm no fan of dirty dancing, etc. but his work in donnie darko, point break, etc was exceptional

RIP Keith Floyd, a true legend. I seem to remember a tale about him meeting the Stones in a hotel in the Far East and complaining that all but Keith R were not keen to socialise. Can anyone remember the details?

Keith Floyd:-

"Then there is the fact that at one time in my life I was hovering outside my restaurant in Bristol on the off-chance that the Rolling Stones, who were playing locally, might decide to come in - but years later, because of fame, they came to see me."

Lukester, Dirty Dancing, Urban Cowboy, Roadhouse, and Grease are on TBS every weekend or so it seems. Do Travolta and Patrick own the station?

I know the screenplay word for word on most of these.

BTW, Jennifer Grey (Baby in the film) had some plastic surgery and looks great. Always had a cute butt, now has the face too.
