QuoteTseverin Could the woman who died have been Madelaine D'Arcy? Marianne Faithfull in her song 'Lady Madelaine' about her friend who OD'd (I think) sings "Spanish Tony don't know what to do; his strange world has all fallen through" The part about Madelaine D'Arcy is defintely in the book. I agree that this book is essential reading for any Stones fa

QuoteT&A madison square garden - you weren't there? they also did it at the toronto warmup gig... Holy moly!! A mind is a terrible thing to waste!!! I was there---that was the show I saw with my sister (her first Stones show---not a bad way to break in) as I had given her the ticket as an X-Mas gift. And a damn fine gift at that! lol T&A--you know I have never owned a tape of

QuoteT&A i loathe most of the album, actually. many agree with me on this; most don't agree with me on the rj thing, so i will continue to hammer home my dissatisfaction with it until death do me part or something. The funny thing about that record is that the best song from those sessions imo (Under The Rader) didn't even make the cut. I wouold have made it the first single

Really? Most interesting re 19NB---where did they play it? I'd be interested in checking that out.

Yeah, so I have noticed...lol But you (smartly, lol) avoided the other tunes some of which, I'm sorry are really not worthy of, as you might say, the lads.

Ha!! No chance!! But thats not probative of anything Mr. T&A! lol. I just listened to it before, I like its energy and I really like Ronnies slide work on it--there are far worse tunes on that record... Streets of Love...The Biggest Mistake of My Life (sounds like an outtake from Goddess in the Doorway, lol)...Sweet Neo Con...This Place is Empty (Hasn't he basically written that so

Reading this thread is hilarious. Some of these lyrics aren't just "bad" they are comically putrid. lol I will however stick up for Rough Justice--I actually think thats a great tune, Ronnie's slide tone is killer and it WOULD have been SO much better if they left "gonna break your heart" instead of "never break your heart"--I mean that line coming from

I understand that '71 was definitely "laid back" relatively speaking but that's the charm, gives it more character than if it had essentially been a repeat of '69/'70 with a couple of new tunes thrown in. And, it definitely does suffer from the fact that only 4 (and incomplete, at that) shows are out. I like Leeds and I LOVE what they did with Satisfaction, so coo

I always thought Jiving Sister Fanny was one of the coolest grooves they ever produced--awesome energy and really captures a "live feel", no doubt because they recorded most of it live. There's actually two versions of this tune with slightly different lyrics (if you want to call them that, lol) and a slightly different tempo. The Metamorhosis version is different from the one

QuoteHairball Mick should NOT have released Lets Work. True that! But, the other day I was listening to "Wandering Spirit"--what a GREAT record! Keith's solo records (and I like both of them) get, seemingly, the majority of attention from Stones fans, but imo "Wandering Spirit" is THE best solo record by any member of the band. Why it didn't fare better com

Hey there, sir!! I've been MIA. Not much on the Stones front (not sure thats a bad thing, truth be told) and more importantly became partners with this guy who had a solo practice (hence the matrimonial) and basically work 10-12 hours days but I LOVE it. We have 2 offices already and I am down on Wall Street. Its pretty cool. We also have a billboard up on the BQE (pretty chessy, no? LOL).

Voodoo--my firm does a thriving Matrimonial business. In NY one child is going to run you 17% of your gross income (meaning, pre-tax); spousal maintenance (NYs quaint term for alimony) is a whole nother kettle of fish and far too complex to even attempt to explain in this context. That said--my strongest advice....do it ONLY if you are your absolute wits end. Seriously, I highly doubt you hav

Will always have a place in my heart for this tune and agree that if they could do Worried About You, they could have done this also. It would have worked well during Licks or '81.

Impossible comparison, really. Practically 2 different bands given the difference in guitar players and producers, not to mention the passage of time. Some Girls IS "dirty, raw and edgy"--well put. It eliminated the excess bloat and cut right to the core. Plus, Mick playing guitar gave it a very different element. As for FAE....IT'S FUNNY!! Plus, Woody's steel guitar pl

QuoteJames KirkSammy seems to be the only guy associated (maybe Mike too) that isn't nuts. I saw Eddie absolutely BLOW the roof off MSG in November. We should all be so "nuts". Btw, all shows sold out and they added a leg AND are supposedly more than 1/2 way through a new record. Where are all the naysayers, now? Cue "crickets" PS They play MSG again on St P

Second concert of my life.....Kinks New Years Eve Palladium NYC 1980. Unfreaking believeable----this was in between One For The Road (Quite possibly the most underrated live record, ever) and Give The People What They Want. Just a killer show, I was already loving Low Budget and the Live record, but the show was so great, so much fun, so much energy, so obviously a band hitting on all cylinders a

Plant has said several times Trampled Underfoot is one of his favorite Zep songs. It will hardly be a shock if they play that one. Bwsides, they played it EVERY tour from the time it came out ('75) onwards.

I really don't see that, though it would be pretty cool. I do not think at this stage of their career Mick and Keith want to be opening for anyone, even if the band was getting 80,000 hits a minute on an internet lottery.
