Really, really sad. I never would have thought 40+ years ago that this song would be associated with selling a Mercedes, any car, or, indeed, anything. Pathetic. I don't know whether the Stones approved this, or ABKCO, or whatever, but boy is that sad.

Re: Track Talk: Mixed Emotions new Posted by: drewmaster () Date: January 7, 2013 18:01 Mixed Emotions was like a gust of fresh, bracing ocean air after the lull the band experienced in the mid-80's. It shouted "Hey, we're back!!" .. and it did so with style and aplomb. I can remember hearing this one for the first time and being so excited that my favorite band was once

I listened to PMS again this weekend. It would be wonderful if played. I like it much better than the last two. Springsteen issued an album of 30-year old outtakes about the same time, and has played some of them in concert this past year. Unfortunately, the Stones don't rotate their material as much.

I was hoping this was just another of Superrevvy's fantasies, but I googled Superheavy and went to their Facebook page, and there it was.

"I don;t want to start the whole Taylor/Wood debate as I think they are too very different types of guitarist. Taylor couldn't stand in for Ron on a Stones tour and play the wide variety of styles necessary. On the other hand Ronnie can't play the fluid lead work which Taylor is renowned for. Although, I think he is a little rusty and needs a bit more road work with the Stones for

Yeah, MJ didn't seem too buddy-buddy with anyone in the band. Not even a fake show of warmth with Keith, and keeping his distance from MT.

I'm a big Bruce fan. He was clearly enjoying himself, and radiating his pleasure at being there. On the other hand, he clearly looked like he was under-rehearsed and winging it. He spent most of the time singing looking down at the Teleprompter. His singing wasn't confident, and his guitar-playing, while good, wasn't up to what he can do. Over at backstreets.com, the crowd

If this instead will be an end, it is the end to Rolling Stones tours. Not necessarily to the band as such. New recorded material and single, more or less closed concerts to an invited audience - filmed and made available to the public - can still follow from the Rolling Stones as a unit later on. If not as a certainty, far from it. However, no announcement, I sincerely hope. Can't agre

30 minutes for Billy Joel -- that's a long pee break. I was at the RRHOF concerts in '09. He absolutely ruined Born to Run when he sat in with the E Street Band.

Not just about the pay per view. Also about proving to themselves they could do it. Also about proving to the insurance companies and promoters that thet could do it. And also about advertising for the 2013 tour -- if they proved they could do it.

Or maybe folks didn't sell their seats, but have to sell them elsewhere because of the deadlines for sale of non-electronic tickets.

I wonder if those seats sold on Stubhub, or whether they were pulled to sell as a drop on TM.

I saw Gary Clark at Howlin' for Hubert. He was great -- one of the best acts on the bill. Keith must have been impressed.

The tickets to the event sold out in like, 3 minutes. Presumably, substantial funds will be raised during the broadcast.

I've been thinking about this. I have a suspicion this may be evaluated by the Stones organization, in part, by how it would affect their pay-per-view audience 3 days later. The concert is to be telecast live on many networks. Would giving away 2 songs for free be good advertising for the pay-per-view? Would it satisfy people who just want a peek at the Stones and cut down their numbers

Ooooh. Also turned down 125, row 1. $280 in the middle of the week just doesn't work for me.

I just pulled up 2 of the $280 seats on TM for the 13th, section 102. I decided I can't do that for the middle of the week (since I'm not in the NY area). Hope IORR person takes them. Those are the cheapest pair I've seen at TM for a while.

I regret it probably won't be "Tell Me." The first hit they penned, accurately describes why they're back (they need our love again -- and our money), and it would be a shout out to BV for this forum.

Agree that stripped down would be better. But remember that Keith no longer wants to (is able to?) sing and play at the same time. So somebody is needed to cover his vocal parts.
