Having acquired season 5 of the Show Mad Men I was watching again and in the Third Episode "Tea Leaves" Don Draper and Harry Crane go to a Stones concert at Forest Hills (July 2, 1966). They are trying to get the Stones to record a jingle. However, Harry Crane comments that he is trying to see the Stones Manager Allen Klein. Would this be technically correct, or did Klein not have anyth

I just finished the discussion of A Quick One. Interesting comments on one of my favorite Who songs. This one, despite its rather "campy feel" is actually one of the Who's darkest songs. The way Pete talks about it, one really takes a different look at the song and realizes how personal of a song it is for Townshend. Pete has an ability that only one other songwriter I know has.

Hull is a great show, but the Tommy section also includes a few seconds of the Leeds version. Overall I still prefer Leeds as the atmosphere at Hull was subdued for a Who Concert. Tommy wasn't as good at Hull as at Leeds (it falters here and there), but Shakin All Over is better at Hull, IMO. Both Hull and Leeds My Generation are seperate animals, both good and both worth the price of admiss

Yeah, that performance of A Quick One on Rock and Roll Circus is AMAZING! one of my favorite live Who clips (that and Baba 'O Riley on Kids are All Right). THey are in the zone, and stole the show. Too bad they only did one song on it, it would have been great to hear them do Ha

Mother's Little Helper, Play with Fire, Shattered and Rock and A Hard place should be on this collection. *sigh* I'll save my money for Charlie Is My Darling Super Deluxe or whatever it is.

There's a discussion right now over at a James Bond board about the worst Bond themes. THe worst, overall, is Madonna's Die Another Day followed by Jack White/Alicia Keys offering from Quantum of Solace, Another Way to Die. Cornell's offering from Casino Royale is good, but not great. The movie version is much better than the his own single. Hopefully, with a strong singer like A

I think this is a great song (Adele's Skyfall that is). Seems like a throwback to the Bassey and 60's number. That being said my favorite theme is definetly Diamonds Are Forever. That riff is so smooth sounding and combined with the suggestive lyrics is well sexy. I have come to appreciate You Only Live Twice after its excellent use on the season 5 finale of Mad Men. It has a great mi

FOr myself, I'm curious to see how Pete deals with the years directly following Moon's death. Pete was very heavy into hard drugs and alcohol and has admitted he barely survived the period from 1979-82. Other interesting things will be to see how he describes his fellow bandmates. Will it be flattering or flippant?

Why do they keep rehashing old releases when they should release the complete Hollywood Bowl concerts. Of all the Beatles material on CD, a live concert is one thing that is missing. Today it doesn't matter that you hear a sea of white noise from fans. What matters is that you have a concert from the Beatles. Plus given today's technology, they could easily release the 1964 show and bot

I always felt Dreaming From The Waist was the Who-hit that never was but should have been. A great riff, great lyrics, great music (probably Entwistle's second best bass playing behind The Real Me), it would have made a better single than Squeeze Box. Who By Numbers seems to be underrated by a lot of people, and I think that's because it follows in the wake of the Who's best albu

Quoteretired_dog QuoteErik_Snow Quoteretired_dog CD2 looks very much like an expanded Got Live If You Want It EP to me - which would be great, to say the least. While some of the Got Live-outtakes are already available available on boots for some years (Down The Road Apiece, Time Is On My Side, Everybody Needs Somebody To Love - full version), it's great to finally get them in "official

The problem unfortunatly with Keith taking pills is it seemed inevitable that he would OD on them. The past 15 years of his life, Keith never did anything in small doses. He took far more pills then was neccesary on the night he died. A story in Tony Fletcher's book Dear Boy describes how Keith would just grab a handful of pills and swallow them all. It was sad really. Finally, not sure if

As some might know by now, another British icon celebrates his 50th anniversary this year. Its been 50 years since Sir Sean Connery made his debut as James Bond. For this landmark all of the stops have been pulled out. Books covering several topics of the movies (music, posters, etc.), product tie ins, re-releases of the 22 current films, documentaries and all important: a new film that promises

I have yet to tackle the DVD part, but looking at the cover this looks interesting as well! That sounds like a real treat. I might get that as well. I recommend you get it. Apparently its going to be a limited run (5-disc/DVD version). I commend the producers

I find it very disrepectful to doubt the moon landing. It disrespects the men and women who worked and risked their lives to put people on the moon.
