Overall lack of respect. For Mick Taylor, with added restrictions, even humiliations. Hence, for the sensible fans and music lovers, expecting more MT’s involvement. After the dream come true of MT’s comeback. Hangover. No statement, no information. Communication zero. Having to guess. « Kremlinology » as someone rightly compared. Disappointing. Contemptuous remarks and MT’s bashing (from R

There were previous MJ-MT snippets of positive interaction on this video of Midnight Rambler: MJ looks for MT 7:40 and finds him 7:49 MJ bursts out laughing on the heavy guitar tremolo 8:18 MT seemed to play happily on Satisfaction: After the first bow, MT applauds twice to KR. With sincerity IMO. It's no longer the 50th anniversary tour. MT is natural. No issue, but (I wish I were

Quotedcba Whether you like it or not, MT is a "special guest" not a 6th member... Therefore his contribution must and will be minimal. This policy meets Jagger's point of view : the Stones sahll never become a nostagia act. If MT was allwoed to play on ADTL or YCAGWYW people would say "oh they went back to the 72-73 formula". Jagger would hate that... Truly, som

We haven't to miss that Mick Taylor's immense talent was intimately associated with the music of the Rolling Stones. I mean it is not only extraordinary solos out of context. But wonderfully constituent of the RS music at its peak.

QuoteDoxa I guess this new term "Richardite" is just pseudonym a for "Woodite" or "Woodist". The logic of "Woodism" is that there is no other effective musical force than Richards (and Jagger in lesser degree) in The Rolling Stones, which could have something significant to offer to their music. Ronnie Wood is a perfect Rolling Stone for them, since he do

QuoteDandelionPowderman <what I dislike : flourish, pretention, flakes, marketing inflation and obvious fashion following.> Hm, those are both positive and negative words, Mark. Are you sure you dislike a band that flourishes? I meant pompousness, style inflation It's a good word, though, because that's exactly what they did after Dirty Work - flourished! off topic They w

Dear Dandelion, I have a better time explaining overall : 1- what I like : talent of course, creativity and truth, hence emotion. Especially the rawness and the mix of strength and elegance the RS used to display in the early years and still display at times. 2 - what I dislike : flourish, pretention, flakes, marketing inflation and obvious fashion following. In your excellent example, I c

Witness, beside teasing, I agree with you. In the end of 1969 and during 4 years, the Rolling Stones set a new standard in RnR shows. A shift in mastery and excellence. A solid pattern, a new way of playing their warhorses (JJF, SFTD...), with elements of creativity and inspiration, hence danger. A paradigm shift! The Rolling Stones had a signature, that nobody on earth could mimic or approa

QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotetornnfrayed The Stones have not put on a good show since 1981. But even that was not a great tour. There were just some good shows. The music speaks for itself... The music speaks for itself, yes. But not necessarily the way you meant. Listen to the piano part... quite obnoxious (at least for my ears). A slaughter. Midnight Rambler requires an atmosphere

Rockn'Roll roots (Chuck Berry roots) + Rolling Stones signature (notice Let's Spend the Night Together accents) + heavy studio work (flourished "Las Vegas" style). Sophisticated arrangement, multi instruments. In my opinion, at the expense of genuineness and rawness (trademark of the original sound of the Rolling Stones). Nice to hear, funny to watch on the video. A pleasan

Ron Wood is surely a great guy and more than a decent guitar player. He deserves respect for both.

Hits of childhood, music for life. What'd I say, Apache, I want to hold your hand, The House of the Rising Sun, I get around, A hard day's night, Mr Tambourine Man (Byrds version) were the musical milestones of my young years. Then came It's all over now by the Rolling Stones, with a raw and unique sound. Irresistible. And Tell me, a song (and a thread ) I cherish... In 1965 c

Mick Taylor reached an unprecedented level of confidence. He played an astounding part on Midnight Rambler. With the aura of fright that the song deserves. Hope to have some more, when the Stones are back. Sending kind thoughts to Mick Jagger Mark, fan since 1964

Nicky Hopkins and Ian Stewart deserved a Rolling Stone status. Chuck Leavell no. For instance, when listening carefully to Midnight Ramblers and check his notes, numerous notes, tacky notes... I feel like screaming. Unfortunately, he seems to have gained a musical leadership. I guess he is serious, reliable and courteous. No doubt a professional. Sadly undermining the unique sound of th
