Plenty of good Scandanavian rock bands. And I think the Black Crowes doing rap can only be an improvement.

I saw the Black Crowes once and was quite bored. There are hundreds if not thousands of bands "carrying on the tradition", even if most people don't notice.

"Growth" is boring and the antithesis of good rock n roll. No real reason to even attempt to make the comparison other than they are mostly a bunch of senior citizen critics darlings.

AC/DC is certified for 21 million copies sold of "Back In Black." Sounds like they built their own mighty throne (as all the bands mentioned in the initial post).

$200 for Stones STaples Center 10/31/02. Bought it off a scalper, it was the exact spot I wanted to be, PA level in the first third of the house.

I wouldn't compare Motley Crue to the Stones or even call them a great band but their gigs are always a lot of fun with a lot of good catchy songs. Would love to see them as an opener for the STones.

It all depends on who the opener is. Some dont get paid at all.

I've taped hundreds of shows, don't have time to transfer/release everything. I wouldn't be suprised if it was taped by someone who either doesn't know about the whole bit torrent thing or just doesn't care.

It varies from band to band but side musicians are usually salaried. I just finished reading Neighborhood Threat:Life On The Road With Iggy Pop by Alvin Gibbs the bass player on the UK tour. He got $1500 a week and a $30 a day per diem. I think I read Bobby Keyes gets $5000 a show though not sure if they are really paid on a per show or per week basis (considering they have been working over a mo

Typical concert venues usually aren't "rented." They provide their venue with an eye toward making money off concessions and parking while the band usually takes the bulk of the ticket sales. The tour sponsor provides the start up costs to get the tour on the road. (Yes, the start up costs seem to be staggering since it takes a bit longer for the Stones to get the show rolling) The

Also, if it was taped, don't assume the taper is aware or even cares about the trading community. There are plenty of tapers who have little awareness of any scene built around what he or she sees as a hobby for personal pleasure only. I've liberated Stones recordings from such people in the past...

I didn't not like the BTB and Licks stadium stages, but it just seemed somewhat generic. Not too impressive based upon the previous tours.

It may be big in size but from the photos I have seen so far, it also appears to be very minimalist. Rather than trying to fill in lots of space with props, screens and banners, the scaffolding is open and built to accomodate 400 people. Not very "spectacular" in the way Steel Wheels or Voodoo Lounge is unless you happen to be one of the lucky 400 but its a welcome departure from the B2

AC/DC did a full headline stadium tour of Europe 2001 including playing to 70,000 in Hockenheim. Metallica has headlined stadium shows in the bay area.

They have already pretty much saturated the market doing headline shows just about everywhere twice. Dont think they would sell anywhere near the additional amount of tickets as perhaps Metallica.

The info was pretty much derived by checking Ticketmaster availability - 12 together in all prices ranges suggest many many unsold seats. I don't have exact figures of course but I doubt the radio station does either.

It may or may not be true but I have no reason to doubt it really. That was probably GNR's asking price for any gig based on their popularity at the time. And it drew in a lot of people who otherwise wouldn't have bothered thus putting even more money in the Stones pockets. In the end its really only a few bucks out of every ticket sold. Also I paid $35 total so some of that was the TM

I doubt they lost money, it was around 300,000 tix and I think the tickets were a few bucks more than in other cities. Guns N Roses was a lot more than just a warm up act. They drew a lot of people. They probably didnt pocket as much as if only Living Colour opened but then again they may not have sold out 4 shows. But it was one of the biggest shows ever to play LA so I doubt anyone lost money o

Some book on Guns N Roses. It was actually 400k for the first 2 shows (the first 2 to go on sale, Oct 21-22) and the 2nd set of shows which went on sale a month later (Oct 18-19) it was 600k. Remember Guns N Roses were the biggest (newer) band in the world at that time and were responsible for selling a lot of those tickets. They could have filled up at least 1 night in that stadium on their own

The 2nd show isnt anywhere near 80% sold out. Metallica is huge in the bay area. This is a calculated attempt to boost ticket sales. I bet Metallica is making a hefty amount of money for the privelege. Not sure what the exact financial arrangement is but in 1989 they paid Guns N Roses a million dollars to open the 4 shows in Los Angeles.

I think the way Staples was configured for the Stones is more like 14-14,500. Wiltern is about 2500 though only about half those were ever sold to the general public.

The 2nd date definitely lowered the value of the tickets. There are many more tickets available in southern California than there were during Licks tour. Personally I hate the Hollywood Bowl so the added 2nd show may bring secondary market prices more in line with what I feel the show is worth.

Whitesnake started out as more of a blues based rock band but became more of a "hair band" when David Coverdale forced out the other original members and released the 1987 eponymous disc. The early albums aren't the least bit glammy.

Don't worry, they can easily rip off Poison without having to "cover" them.
