Giant Stadium Ticket Sales: SSSLLLLOOOOWWWW

You can still get good floor seats and good lower level seats. Thats amazing, especially right outside of New York City. They better do something quick.

Why Cohl felt this leg of the tour should primarily be a stadium tour is way beyond me. If they focused solely on arenas, they would not be facing such embarrassing sales.

At $500 a pop, it's only justice it's not selling.

exactly...

i guess i will do what i do for everyshow since i couldnt get any $99 floors, buy the cheap $60 tixs and upgrade myself...

sounds like it will be pretty easy to do, especially if the stadium is half empty...

what a shame...

Good....the less people go, maybe they'll get the message, fire Cohl and concentrate more on the music than amassing cash..

Then again, pigs might fly

I wonder how many tickets they need to sell in these stadiums to reach the break even point. They could have gone the safe route with arenas, but got too greedy it seems.

Well, there is that persistent Pink Floyd reunion rumour, so maybe pigs really will fly (again) in the near future.

I live 20 mins from Giants Stadium, and I can't justify spending that cash on a Stadium Show.

They should've done what happened with B2B... spin off into the No Security Tour Pt. 2.

I really hope they get the picture.

Same here stonesctl... This is your proof that people are bored with this stadium/greatest hits crap... Mick needs to look around and realize You Got Me Rocking and Miss You for the 5,000th time won't make him more money this time around. Don't they realize how many good songs they have written and how many singles they have released that have never been played live.

When the Dodger Stadium show goes on sale, I will try to get the $99 floor tickets (if they are even available for sale outside of the fan club alotment). Seeing as I doubt I will get any of those, I will just wait to the day of the show to buy. Last year for the Anaheim stadium show I paid $80 outside for a floor ticket that cost about $180 including the TM charges. Security was lax to where I spent my whole time in the $450 area, about 25 rows from the stage and knowing when the B stage songs were going to happen, I moved into place and got within 10 feet of it. Well worth $80 to me.

BTB had sensible ticket prices...the last tour to do so
No Security saw the top priced tickets increase by over 500% in the space of less than 12 months
Not a good trend, and it was the start of the slippery slope

a little late for that now, no? these gigs are already booked. can't seem them dropping the price at this point. I think the "ace in the hole" is the supporting acts that will help push some reluctant buyers over the top - I think they're looking at Clapton, AC/DC and The Who.....

The Who and Clapton's schedules don't work real well with the Stones shows through October. Clapton has not announced any Western US dates and so far the only announced Western US date for The Who is L.A.. It is interesting that The Who Hollywood Bowl date originally announced for November 5th was changed to the 4th, which now allows them to be on the bill for the Stones show in Oakland on the 5th.

yeah - and that definitely jibes with the very strong rumor that floated around a few weeks back that AC/DC and the Who would share a Bay Area date with the Stones. Frankly, without that kind of support, Oakland will definitely have plenty of leg room.....

So the Stones are going to increase ticket sales by offering some songs that haven't been played yet on this tour ... songs played by Clapton, AC/DC and The Who.

I just checked Chicago. You can get the 50 yard line, eight rows up in one of the the three biggest Stones markets on earth (besides Boston and NYC). Hmmmn...

It's not that I think the Stones will change the tour nor do I want the prices of No Security... I just want a stripped down concert.

Those who can't do, hire opening acts that can.

That they have nothing new and interesting to offer, so the only way they can inject some excitement and ticket sales into the tour is to turn to other bands.

Well, maybe Keith will "fall" again and they will postpone/cancel some dates.

If the sales are as sluggish as the anecdotal evidence suggests, well, we're in a new era, folks.

Sooner or later, there was bound to emerge some combination of price resistance and stadium (or warhorse?) fatigue...now that has arrived.

I never thought the day would come when I would sit out a chance to see the Stones, but unless there are some very significant changes to the show, I'll be hanging on to my money this time 'round.

Warhorse fatigue doesn't exist, its just more sour grapes from people who think the band should be playing *just* for them. Ticket prices and market saturation, yes. I doubt endless whining from internet setlist geeks is having any effect on sales whatsoever.

Ha! Listen to the tough guy playin' "voice of reason." As usual, I'm not impressed.

Do you think that even the most casual fans don't notice that the show is a slick, expertly delivered and yes, sometimes thrilling showbiz package? You don't think that significant numbers of potential concertgoers (especially ones contemplating a $1000 night out) have gotten wise to the Stones' unchanging band/format over the last 17 years?

It goes back to market saturation. They have played these places numerous times over the years and at high ticket prices, a stadium show aren't quite going to fly in the same places just one year later. And concert sales are down across the board.
