The real shock will come when smaller markets like Wichita go on sale. Good luck.

nope...I dont want or expect the Stones to play just for *me*. Never have done either, so this argument doesnt hold up at all. Like most people, I'm not that selfish or unreasonable. Anyone who just expects the Stones to play obscurities and no well known, familiar songs in large venues is living in cloud cuckoo land. I dont see any evidence of people being that unreasonable. Its simply not as black and white an argument as that, despite all the sweeping generalisations about people 'whining' if they think not everything is wonderful.

I'd much rather they played for *themselves* which if anything is quite the opposite of what you suggest. I dont want them to be my personal jukebox any more than I want them to be Mr Corporate America's.

However, as its *me* who is forking out for the ticket, its quite reasonable to find a point where it becomes, on a personal level, less interesting than it should be, so its natural to vote with your wallet and go to either less shows with this format and of this size - or maybe none at all. And of people still love it and want more and more of the same, thats their right too and good luck to them. Your point about saturation is valid too, but its not exclusive to that. There is a limit to the amount of people who are going to keep coming back to watch a show where a mediocre ticket can cost about $500 including charges, because most of those people are there to see the legend and maybe arent as captive and loyal an audience as others.

I'm not so sure. Theres still the novelty appeal of a large % of some audiences never having seen the band before. Those shows will still sell well and possibly quite briskly as long as they dont try and milk the market like they do in places like New York, where they expect 3/4 of the people at an arena show to spend $450 on a ticket. As they tend to discriminate against larger markets like NY, Boston and Chicago re: a higher proportion of top priced seats, theres a limit to how far they can take that, especially when its their 3rd visit in a year and theyre playing stadiums. If theyre charging most of the people in other markets $99 or even $160 a ticket, they might get away with it

Yes The L>A> Forum show in March was very slow selling too> The last time they played there it was 1975 so it was supposed to be this big deal i don't know if it sold out but i knew they were starting to overdue it then. I had a feeling these show's would not sell out here in the states. I'm back so i guess Amsterdam was a good one to miss. I think there going to have problems selling out these stadium. This is actually the third time around. Not 2 They started the tour in what august and took a break and basically came back to the same cities in the U.S. later. So this is # 3 in reality. People in L.A. were burnt after the forum GiG.

There were $450 seats left the week of the show at the LA Forum, but the ironic part is, the Forum was one of the best shows of the tour. If they played like that every night, then they wouldn't have to worry about slow sales.

Wait & try to get Beacon tickets, when they sell out in minutes, then you can get Giant Stadium tickets. If you can only afford one show or only want to see one,why not take a shot at Beacon tickets first? The trick of selling the larger venue shows first is catching up to them.Fans have been taken advantaged of so many times by this, they are starting to wise up, & not panic buy, before the arena or theater shows are put on sale.

estimated only 100 tickets per hour and dwindling. At some point they will get an awesome opening act to increase ticket sales as an opening act is not known at this time. Bring on ACDC or GNR!

Maybe it's high time MJ realise that Cohl has brought this band to a "Dead end street ". This guy might be a cash machine, but he is noway a pro in terms of Marketing.I guess MJ will be infuriated when in front of a 1/3 full Giants. Sad . They can cancel the show, now they are used to.

if this is indeed the case, why are they playing Dodger Stadium?! seems foolish . . .

Good one. They already felt in Europe that's why they go back to the States. Sad to see them going down! But it's their own fault!

Dodger Stadium is a weekend night, right? It will sell well if that's so. Otherwise, there could be problems.

"estimated only 100 tickets per hour and dwindling. "

Two monhts left: 60 days x 15 hours x 100 tickets = 90.000 tickets - that is 20.000 tickets to few for the demand...... yawning smiley))

nikkibong, I guess you did'nt get my point. They have exhausted there time on these tour. These will be the 3rd time back! They played Anaheim the hollyweird bowl twice, san diego petco stadium which is only 100 miles away Fresno only 200 miles away then the forum in march. The point i trying to make is there burning everyone out in L.A. and by the way Dodger Stadium has'nt even gone on sale yet so where are you coming from about sales there yet?

I really thought they would come back with a theater only tour. Maybe 15-20 shows. Why book stadiums in saturated markets when they have had trouble selling out arenas? Is this how it ends?

True EalingClub, I thought it would be theater gigs to for the encore that's what makes since> They did a hell of a stadium gig this year. Encore the theaters it just goes to show there getting greedy not a good way to Finish out a career if that's what Charlie said. It should be humble and go out on top still. It will be a diasterous thing if these stadium's don't sell out in the U.S. Which i don't think they will it's to soon from when they just played them. 20 Theater gigs would give plenty 20-30 theater gigs would give everybody a fair chance to a least see one of them and the sound would be unreal and a perfect way to end whatever happens in there future.

On this board, a grasp of the obvious is pretty hard to come by, which is why I spelled it out. A lot of people seem stuck in the fantasy land of "the Stones are as great as ever and anyone who says differently isn't a real fan."

It seems obvious to me, for example, that a person doesn't have to be at a show to listen to a recording and critique the playing or the song selection, but there are people on here who will argue just the opposite until their dying breath.
