Again, I watched the Waiting On Friend-Video. And again I realize, I love the 1981/82 Rolling Stones the most. The scene, when they gather at the bar, you can see the Rolling Stones at their purest and most authentic. They don´t carry the burden of any “image“. There is no 1963 blues purism 1966 pop attitude 1967 psychedelia 1969 flirtation with darkness 1972 outlaw image 1973/

June 20th, 1995, Cologne, Mungersdorfer Stadion: The lights went down; Charlie started drumming... From the right side Mick J. entered the stage, dancing and prancing. Right at that moment, 70.000 were connected in a giant electric field. When he reached his mike and bowed down, the crowd went nuts. "I'm gonna tell you how it's gonna be You're gonna give your lo

The studio version is non-plus-ultra Stones. Brussel´s version is the peak of their live career. But listen to the 1981 Seattle version: it ain´t bad either. Keith was the bandleader back then... Priest

I think, Paul and Keith are not really "friends", no sweet hearts together. But only one aspect: each one, Paul and Keith, spent the 60s in the eye of the hurricane. That´s a long chapter in their bio; an experience they share. A strong connection. Priest

First of all: best wishes from Bonn, Germany, and sorry for my poor English! In 1982 (18 years old) I bought Still Life and right from the first listening, I fell in love with Going to a GoGo. The Stones´version captures one thing: DSHUNGLE RHYTHM!! It creates a hypnotic groove; when I close my eyes I see an old Tarzan Movie on the screen: the elephants are gathering, black men (who know f

For me, everything began with ROLLED GOLD. Around 1980, I, 17 years old, was a hardcore Beatles fan. On Dez. 25th 1981 my sister gave me a copy of RG on music cassete, a Christmas gift for me. The song order was wrong, it begann with GOOMC. That was a turning point in my life... Priest from Germany

You all can complain about - the vocals - the lyrics - the choir - the strings Maybe you are right. But for me, it´s just the SONG. The best RS song in decades. For the first time since HIGHWIRE I play it again and again, it´s in my ears all over the day. The song is heartfelt and honest. Reminds me a bit of THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD. Paul wrote it, when the story came to an en

I spent last night at a party here in Bonn, former capital city of Germany. Had dinner with some friends, watched the fireworks. My girl friend isn´t a Stones fan; but today she told me, she loves SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL. Not a bad beginning of a new year. Priest

WDR2 is a very polular radio station in Cologne/Germany. They ran a online poll "best 200 bands of all time". The results are out: for more than 24 hours they played 200 songs/200 bands. TOP 10: 1. Depeche Mode 2. Queen 3. Beatles 4. Pink Floyd 5. U2 6. Rolling Stones 7. ABBA 8. ACDC 9. Ärzte (German band) 10. Genesis I was VERY surprised about #1... Your opini

I think every Stones album - unitil 1997 - had it´s own vibe, esp. Voodoo Lounge. The only album without any vibe is ABB. It´s just a MJ solo record, KR and CW helped him as session musicians, RW was the hired hand. The result is a collection of dull and half-baked songs. But, including Bridges, each album has it´s own vibe and MATTERS!

I was at the opening night of the 1792 tour! They played a song with the line "let´s bury the hatchet" in the first verse, can´t remember the title. So long ago. "Mick´s Emotions"?? Hard core fans criticized them for these words of peace and harmony. Back then the Stones were well known as big rebels! I bet, the Stones played the song to please all the Indians in the

I live in Bonn, Germany. These days there is a new fashion style: many young people, most of them 15-25, wear black Tongue-Shirts! Seems to be hip or cool to wear a Tongue-Shirt. But I BET, they aren´t fans and many of them don´t even know the Stones. It´s just the Shirt. Funny Thing! Priest

What do you think: which songs could have been classics – with some more effort in the studio and some more creative input? My vote goes for THINK I`M GOING MAD. Could have been another WOAF. Next: ONNYA. Sorry, to my ears it sounds half-baked. With an 1977-attitude and different guitar arrangement (“Respectable, Whip“) it could have been easily a classic. Best wishes from Germany!

More than 44 years ago, in January 1964, they recorded FORTUNE TELLER. Maybe a fortune teller predicted the future of the band in 1964... Brian, soon you will be the “neurotic“ band member. Mick and Keith won´t let you write songs for the band. You will play more and more different instruments; but you will waste your skills as a guitar player. In 1969, the Rolling Stones will play a memo

That´s my first post here. Please excuse my poor English! Last week I couldn´t believe my eyes!! On YOUTUBE I watched some old stuff, NME poll winners concert 1964. During the chorus of I`M ALWRIGHT you can see Charlie sing along while drumming!!! Something he´d never do today.
