Came home from work, made a routine check on iorr – and I couldn´t believe my eyes. Still can´t. The last HURRAY of the Geatest Band On Earth is named “Grrr“. A bad joke? Saw them 6 times since 1990 and in the end I was tired on their safety-first autopilot on stage. So I didn´t go to see them in Cologne 2006. Now I wish them back on autopilot – one last time!! Give us one more albu

June 20th, 1995, Cologne, Mungersdorfer Stadion: The lights went down; Charlie started drumming... From the right side Mick J. entered the stage, dancing and prancing. Right from that moment, 70.000 people were connected in a giant electric field. When he reached his mike and bowed down, the crowd went nuts. "I'm gonna tell you how it's gonna be You're gonna give

I LOVE the SMU video. The very first moment, when Keith comes into view is priceless. His face expression epitomizes his 1981/82 attitude perfectly. Priest

Right now, I´m listening to the extended version of SHE WAS HOT (6´50). It´s a marvellous piece of music, a fantastic combination of Stones magic and 80s style. But what about the origin of that long version. I don´t know anything. Is it played by the Stones themselves, live in studio? Or is it a "remix", done by Mick, any producer or studio engineer? Thanks! Priest

To me, this video this promo is one of the key moments in the band´s history. I like it much better than the coloured promo with make up. Maybe the music is pre-recorded, but I bet, it was recorded live in studio. Leaving behind their image as blues purists wannabe pop stars Beatles rivals psychedelic musicians they make their very first appearance as a true ROCK BAND !! Including

IMAGINATION is one of the highlights in the band´s history. The studio version is raw, soulful and mesmerizing. And I love EVERY live version from 1978/79 and 1981/82. Back then, the whole band could create a natural GROOVE! Priest

Last Friday I joined some friends to see “Achtung Baby“, here in Germany a relatively well known U2-cover band. The gig was in Bonn, former capital city. I have to admit, these four guys did a great job. Although the concert hall wasn´t packed, the show was entertaining. I had some room to dance while still feeling energetic vibe of the crowd. And I was really impressed by the cool U2-bass-s

Wolfgang Niedecken, 60, is seriously ill. Niedecken is founder and lead singer of the German rock group BAP, founded in 1976. He sings the lyrycs in Cologne dialect; musically BAP is influenced by the Stones, Dylan and Springsteen. On June, 28th, I saw him solo, he did a great encore: SFTD, only with acoustic guitar. BAP was opening act of the Stones in Cologne in 1982 and 1998. On We

Some Girls: a great album, great guitar interplay, great songwriting (Beast Of Burden!). Tattoo You: an album, that creats an aura, pure Stones magic. Side 2 will always send shivers down my spine. Tattoo You wins!

29 year old poster I´m a fan for allmost 30 years. It all began with that music cassette, a copy of “Rolled Gold“, my sister gave me on Christmas 1981. Soon I bought Tattou You and Some Girls; I loved the old and the “new “ stuff.. In October 1982 I was on a 2-week-class-trip in Scotland. We were 30 boy and girls, most of us 18 years old. I was the only Stones fan, but our “tour bus“ ha

HAVO, in 1965 I was two years old - so I couldn´t see them. Cologne 1990 was my FIRST show!!! Great experience. Continental drift... BANG!!! START ME UP!!! The Stones with full line-up including Bill. Keith hammering the chords. Mick prancing and dancing. What an experience! But when I heard the intro of Tumbin Dice I realized: The Stones live on stage!! HAVO, why do you love th

Thank you all, interesting posts! But I didn´t want to restart the discussion about Is-the-Vegas-Era-good-or-bad. Is saw six concerts since 1990, most of them were great. Esp. Düsseldorf 1998 was a hell of a concert!! My message in my original post was: the 1981-Stones are the most fascinating (to me), because they make a very timeless appearance. Don't need a whore I don'

Again, I watched the Waiting On Friend-Video. And again I realize, I love the 1981/82 Rolling Stones the most. The scene, when they gather at the bar, you can see the Rolling Stones at their purest and most authentic. They don´t carry the burden of any “image“. There is no 1963 blues purism 1966 pop attitude 1967 psychedelia 1969 flirtation with darkness 1972 outlaw image 1973/
