Bill is a mystery to me. During that recording session he appears as a very aloof person. Almost no communication with his band mates. A rare smile. On the other hand he was over decades the band´s collector, chronicler and archivist. With passion and dedication. Feels like the Rolling Stones are the love of his life. What a contradiction. Priest

MESS IT UP – oh my, I love that track. The way, Keith connects Mick´s lines in the verses with his chords and licks: just great! The chorus makes me think of EMOTIONAL RESCUE, the song. It has a natural flow and directly hits my spine. It finishes my cerebralized perception of Stones music. And Charlie is the master of the engine room. He stokes the fire and makes the machine pump on a

I won´t write a complex analysis. At first listen, I thought: "A load of good songs!" Yes, HD is a bunch of brilliant half-singles. But... now I realize what happened: HD leaves me with my head full of earworms. Get Close, Angry, Depending On You, Whole Wide World, Mess It Up, Driving Me Too Hard... All those songs run continously through my mind. An experience, no other Stones

LIVE BY THE SWORD... this song is kind of a a paradox. Maybe it´s the poorest song. But at the same time it´s the best track on the album. The songwriting seems uninspired; the lyrics make an old shark cry. That´s for sure: BMHO, A, GC rock better, WWW and MIU are more entertaining. SSOH is epic ! BUT... the collaboration of Charlie and Bill makes LBTS swing and roll. It´s the only so

First of all: in the pre-internet era, it was much easier to listen (and enjoy) new Stones music on a unbiased base. Now, listening for a new song for the first time, I catch myself thinking “Mr. X wrote, the guitars are to low in the mix. I must give a close listen!“, or “Someone said, the bridge is poor. I´ll check it out!“ Maybe we left Covid behind, but sometimes I think, there´s anothe

I´m born in 1963 and I don´t know a world without the Rolling Stones. I must admit: The Times They Are a-Changin... "Pillar" is a great metaphor! The Stones knew that already in 1978: Well now you're a pillar of society You don't worry about the things that you used to be Charlie, I saw you seven times live on stage. You will always be the Greatest! Priest

Mick has changed his stage persona constantly for 60 years now. His dance moves, acting and prancing differ from tour to tour. I wonder: could Mick do a show now with his moves of 65? Would it work at all? How would the audience react? Priest

In 2014, June 19th, I saw the Stones for the last time. My seventh concert since 1990. I planned to take my friend Ludger to the concert. He was a huge fan, but had never seen them so far. And he had little time: a few days before his wife gave birth to their first child!! Luckily he made it to the concert! The Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf was fully packed. And our boys delivered a stunnin

I started this topic in praise of Keith. And then... such a meandering thread. Analyzing their level of performance. What a foolish discussion!! The Stones are almost 80. Still performing with amazing quality and energy. We should be glad, to have them still around. Period. Have a nice day and best wishes from Cologne! Priest

Whenever I watch videos of the current European tour, I´m extremely astonished about Keith´ stage appearance. Ok, his guitar playing may have his ups and downs. But... ...all that comes to my mind: sovereign upright strong charismatic determined joyful straight forward!! In 2019 we had a dark haired Keith, who seemed to be tired and sometimes disoriented. I wonder,
