Story goes that during mastering of JJF single, someone leaned against the moving tape reel - this took place during the bridge section where they repeat the intro - easy to spot when you're listening for it. Weird - but it became a key part of the experience

Great thread!! My shows were dallas and kc - overall, since 2012 the vibe and commaradery have gotten better than I've seen in years! And that's what made this tour for me. M&k were clearly enjoying one another more than for years ... Several song selections were key: moonlight mile and rocks off in Dallas were stunning - Sfm in kc was simply epic. KC in kc was a hoot as was 'a

Exile over-rated by me? Nope. - just one of the the most mysterious, raw, rocking distillations of Americana in the history of rock and roll. The nightmare journey from the adrenalized highs of Saturday night to the inevitable lows of the cold gray dawn - and all points in between. Many great albums out there - nothing like this one.

Quoteforsure Quotecrholmstrom Quote71Tele QuoteRollingFreak Regardless of what some may think about them, they are a successful and capable band. To deny that is just flat out ignorant. They aren't everyone's cup of tea, but you can't discount them as musicians and as an important band in history. I can discount one or two of them as musicians. I don't think anyone is denyin

OK - this was just over the top - saw Dallas - fantastic show - then KC (home town) - and they burned the place to the ground. What made this so compelling was the joy and good feelings displayed throughout the show - smiles all around and great interactions. Agree the SFM was an epic performance - but too many high points to list. Seeing them operate at this level is amazing - they were shit-hot

what?? no JJF ... best ever descending into chaos beautifully ... and SFM - again descends into chaos - sitar! zinging in the background behind drums and guitar churn - maybe Brian's last brilliant contribution - and finally: We Love You - Again Brian driving a wild fade

KC 6/6/72 - so loud you could feel the wind coming off the row of Ampeg amps - pure intensity - only drawback was echo from the hall. That was when Keith laid out massive slabs of rhythm - huge thick chords - no weaving going on - Keith on rhythm and taylor on leads (exceptions: Keith leads on Bitch and Bye Bye Johnie) Just straight and raw (difference between Brussels and 72, is that 72 seems

OK - I saw them in KC on 6/6/75 and then Memphis on 7/4/75 - both awesome at the time - then saw them in Dallas on 6/6/15 (yep, 40 yrs to the day after KC). I really prefer the current Stones: the guitars now have exactly the right combination of bite and twang - both guitars are playing with more concentration than in 75 and play like there's more on the line. -In the 70's it WAS just

My first of the tour - mid-floor 1/3 of the way back. They came out smokin'- great performance. Especially great to see Keith fully engaged and throwing out the big riffs throughout. Sound was extremely crisp on the floor - guitars right where they needed to be. Rocks Off was superb - the guitars nailed it. MM was a big stretch and he sang the hell out of it. Forty years to the day after

I was there - fun show- but not as focused or intense due to the weaving of three guitars - taylor did feedback - and did NOT have his signature sustaining tone - I think it was a very loud but mostly clean Boogie he was blowing thru. Taylor did play with Alvin Lee at the Uptown theatre in KC a couple of nights before

Great read - this ought to be his next book - song by song! Two things: - Saw him break a string on Oct 8 Steel Wheels, KC, first chord of CAGWYW. - Who decided he should pose with a Gretch? When was the last time he played one of those????

QuoteDoxa QuoteHis Majesty Please note I added this to my post on Dead Flowers. "It acts as a nice mood change inbetween Sister Morphone and Moonlight Mile. Fine in context of the album, not something I'd choose to listen to on it's own." Man, we are listening the same album... - Doxa Well, it should be noted that Dead Flowers is one of the most covered tracks

Quote2000 LYFH Quoterootsman QuoteDandelionPowderman Quoterootsman QuoteDandelionPowderman Only on Paint It Black. It´s there on Street Fighting Man, too! That is a Shehnai... Shehnai is an Indian wind instrument, on SFM played by Dave Mason on the end part. Brian plays sitar on the SFM basic track - confirmed by Keith. Can´t remember the source right now...but His Majesty has written

Saw it in Dallas with the producer in tow - really enjoyed it, great film for fans - probably a little long for bystanders. Andy Hummel's family and friends were there for that (among which I count myself).

Quote24FPS Wow. Worst cover band ever. Umm ... check out the Dead's 'Round and Round' from 6/16/74 - pretty mind blowing. Can find it on Archive.org. Obviously the Stones have a classic version - this Dead version might change your mind ...

For a relatively obscure album track, this has been covered by a huge assortment of acts, I think over 20 on utube

My favorite aspect of the recording is that, as it starts you can hear voices, laughter, maybe glasses clinking in the background as if a party is going on in the next room. In my mind the picture is a lonely man by himself sitting on the steps outside a bar where people inside are carrying on the party without him ... this heightens the effect of loneliness in the track to me

If you want a fair read on Micks likely response to Life, google the piece by Bill Wyman (no not that one), on Slate. Really captures how Mick would have shot back if he had chosen to.

QuoteWindyHorses Does Keith always stay in the back with Charlie and Darryl? I remember him being a lot more up in front. Are those days gone? I mean, I want to see him and it looks a lot of the time like he's buried back there. Actually he was more mobile than I expected - did the ramp a couple of times - and got up front for JJF, MR at some points and others. He was much more fluid and

QuoteCaptainchaos been said already but i goota add my two penneths worth - Midnight Rambler, THIS is how a live R&R band should sound - not played to click, no samples, raw, edgy, dynamic, exciting, big pair of hairy balls slapped in your face, a few scuffs that are quickly repaired, great playing, great great vibe I was there last night - and I was totally with you until the 'big hair
